"I called another company that charged $200 for an estimate. They gave me a written estimate with pictures, and told me that smoke was leaking from one flu to the next because of cracked flu tiles. They recommended two stainless steel flu liners, replacing the crown, replacing the four bad bricks, and sealing the outside of the chimney at a cost of $13000. That wasn't going to happen. I sent the pictures to another chimney repair company and they would do the same work for $6000. What an eye opener! How could there be such a disparity? That's when I called Metropolitan Chimney. Adolfo looked at the chimney and saw that the cracked flu tiles were near the top of the chimney and could be replaced without needing to reline the flues. Aldofo was the only person to diagnose the leaking problem. He said, " the two flues were so close together at the top of the chimney. Smoke from one fireplace rose out of the chimney and was sucked down into the adjacent flu, The smoke came into the house through the other fireplace." The problem was solved with the installation of chimney cap dampers on each flu. I have had a fire in both fireplaces, and smoke has not leaked back into the house. Aldofo and his coworker were honest, did the work that week, left the house clean, and saved me a lot of money. It is important to note that the flu liners recommended by the other companies would not have solved the problem of smoke leaking back into the house. Only Adolfo understood the physical phenomenon of negative pressure as it applied to my fireplaces.

"We bought the Angies List special deal and scheduled the appointment. The man arrived on time, cleaned the chimney and left within about an hour. No deficiencies were noted which was good because we weren't sure how long it had been since the last time anyone has cleaned the chimney.

"The service was fine. The only thing is that they were really late coming. So, it was like dark when they got out of here. They left the area good when they were finished. It took them an hour-and-a-half to complete the job. They sent me a picture of the chimney. The price was great. They did show up."

"I purchased a special deal through Angieslist, $99 for chimney sweep and $200 dollar worth of masonry/Chimney repair. The crew arrived on time and were very polite. When I showed them the woodburning stove insert they both seemed confused by it, they said they weren't familiar with inserts and weren't really sure how it worked. They cleaned it out but were not able to look in the chimney because of the way it was set up. One of the gentleman told me its fine to use as long as smoke doesn't start to come in the house. Obviously. I was under the impression that people that bill themselves as chimney sweeps would be able to figure out how to check out the actual chimney.
Our house has another chimney in the rear that is not in use. There are gaps in the brick where the mortar has fallen out. I figured I'd use the $200 credit towards having them pointed. The gentleman went up on the roof and inspected the chimney. He said the chimney needed to be capped, rain was getting in and that was causing the erosion. Makes sense, during my home inspection the previous year we were told to have it done somewhere down the line. He said he would cap the chimney and seal the concrete around the chimney on the roof for an additional $200. He said there was no need to point the brickwork once the chimney is capped. The guys went on the roof for maybe 15 minutes and installed the cap and I guess seal something or other. I don't have a 40' ladder to get on the roof and actually see what they did but it couldn't have been much as they were only up there a few minutes and I didn't see them carry up any concrete. I suspect they probably used mortar sealant caulk which is fine but doesn't really equate to the price charged. My main gripe is that I paid $500 (99, 200 credit, 200 at time of service) for them to vacuum my fireplace insert and install a cap (found on home depot.com for $80) on the chimney. I get the feeling that when you buy this $99 deal they not really honoring the $200 credit. I'm no expert on this sort of thing but I don't think the work that was performed was anywhere near $500 worth. I also got the feeling they were in a bit of a hurry and that's part of the reason they didn't want to do the pointing work.

"I am completely satisfied with the service and the turnaround was incredible (1 day), no waiting to get my fireplace up and running. Now I can burn some wood and they gave me a quick lesson on how to burn wood, thanks I needed that lesson."

"I called Chelsea’s Chimney in a panic on Saturday as my metal chimney cap came crashing down during a terrible storm. Greg Wiskirchen responded immediately, and quickly came out to fix the cap so that no rain would get in. He was on time, easy to communicate with, and completed the job with care. I’m a new home owner, and he was able to walk me through what happened and also took care of things so quickly. While he was out I had him look at a few other things, and he provided me honest feedback, followed by a super reasonable quote for some projects I would like done. I would highly recommend Greg and Chelsea’s Chimney and I will definitely be using their services again."

"These guys are A+++. I called on Friday to schedule an appointment for a quote. I was told that the first available appointment was about a week out. However, the scheduler promised to contact me if they had a cancellation. A few hours later, I got a call and was scheduled for Monday morning.
The owner called me about 30 minutes before they arrived at my home to give an updated ETA. The two men who arrived were both professional and promptly put on shoe covers before entering my home. As it turned out, the expensive installation procedure was not really necessary. The owner took time to explain exactly what was required and even drew a diagram I could use for future reference. He gave me excellent advice and even helped with the physical labor as a favor. They could have tried to sell me unneeded services, but instead, they have a customer for the future.
I will absolutely contact this company for future work on my chimneys/fireplaces. They are honest, professional and polite.
