"Caleb did an outstanding job refinishing our cabinets. From the start, he was punctual, professional, and very detail-oriented. He took the time to explain the process and helped us choose the best finish for our kitchen. The quality of the work was excellent — the cabinets look brand new, and the results exceeded our expectations. He also made sure everything was clean and tidy once the job was done. His attention to detail and friendly attitude made the whole experience very smooth. We highly recommend Caleb and would definitely hire him again for future projects."

"Gary Bennett came to the house to provide an estimate to finish a large bedroom suite that included a large headboard, 2 end tables, a dresser, a vanity, and  a very large mirror. There were several mix-ups (like the company losing our contact information) that caused some delay. We were not in any hurray, so the delay was not problematic. This was a very expensive furniture set with lots of detail, so we understood it would be expensive to refinish. It also had sentimental value. I only gave a B on price because I have no sense of the cost/value of this work. The company would have moved the furniture out of the bedroom and back after completion. I found it easier to have it ready for pick-up in the garage. The work was done beautifully and exceeded our expectations. <br>"

"The salesman at the store was very helpful in finding the right product and worked with us on the price. The store used 2 different installers, one for the floors and one for the carpets and they all did a good job. The quality of their work was good and I was satisfied with their service."

"Great! He was very professional and I felt safe having him in my new home. He picked up the items I'd ordered from IKEA at the Pittsburgh location and delivered them to me. He also assembled them for me, as well as 3 additional items that I had purchased elsewhere (a small kitchen island, a storage cabinet, and a small chrome baker's rack). I live on the top floor of a triplex with steep, narrow, crazy stairways and randomly slanted ceilings. He even remarked on the narrowness of one section of the hallway up to my apartment, saying that he'd never seen anything like that. And yet somehow he got all of the boxes for the IKEA items (wardrobe, dresser, and bookcase) up there. He was very careful with my belongings and did a lot better job assembling everything than I ever could have done! He is very experienced, professional, and it is clear that he loves the work that he does and takes pride in it. We also had some very interesting conversations during the hours he spent at my place! In terms of the cost breakdown, the $828.39 total cost includes the cost of the IKEA furniture ($377.00), which means I was charged $451.39 for everything else. To me that seems like a bargain for the great service I received. I am so grateful for what he did for me, especially because I was having problems with my hands, wrists, and arms and could not do the work for myself even if I wanted to."

FAQs for furniture refinish projects in Mount Washington, KY

A complete table refinishing project requires between four and eight days from start to finish. The actual hands-on work takes between two and 10 hours, with the remaining time dedicated to drying periods between applications. The stripping and sanding phases demand the most active labor, while applying finishes requires patience as each layer dries completely before proceeding.

Several elements influence dining table refinishing costs, with size being the primary factor. Larger tables or those with extensions require more materials and labor time. The wood type matters significantly—hardwoods may need specialized treatment compared to softer woods. The table's current condition also impacts pricing, as damaged surfaces need repairs before refinishing can begin.

Refinishing often proves more economical than purchasing a comparable quality replacement. Professional table refinishing costs between $150 and $400 on average, while preserving the original craftsmanship and character of your piece.

This approach makes particular sense for well-constructed wood furniture that would be expensive to replace with similar quality. For sentimental pieces or antiques, refinishing also maintains their history and personal value.

Professional furniture refinishers charge between $40 and $100 per hour for their services. This rate varies based on geographic location, the refinisher's experience level, and the complexity of the project. Some professionals offer project-based pricing rather than hourly rates, especially for standard-sized pieces like coffee tables or end tables. When requesting quotes, ask whether the estimate includes materials or represents labor costs only.

For tables with minor wear, you can sometimes refresh the appearance without complete stripping and sanding. Using gel stains and wipe-on finishes can address surface issues while preserving the existing finish underneath. This approach works best for tables with light cosmetic damage rather than those with deep scratches or damaged finishes. However, proper stripping and sanding remain necessary for comprehensive restoration or significant color changes for professional-quality results.
