"It’s really beautiful. Carlos came out and assessed and we talked ; he measured and gave me a price from the start. He arranged to have me come to his current job site, so I could see the ideas that were being implemented and quality of work. Before starting, we altered and changed the design a little here and there and he always let me know if it would raise or lower costs. Carlos started when he said he would, finished when he said he would, works long consecutive days and is very well organized. He does all the work but smartly has a person or two in some days helping him mix cement, help with material movements and cleanup daily which was appreciated. The end result is a beautiful product with excellent ideas that he brought into the process. The scope of the work was 3 granite steps olus landing Of 41 inches and stone risers. Also a 28 foot approx walkway of brick pavers and a series of granite steps. Along the side cobblestone pavers For most of it. There was real attentions to construction detail in laying the stone and granite and hiding cement. That was important to me and it’s important Carlos. He RVN went and bought an extra piece of granite we hadn’t thought about needing but it was just sharper to do that. Carlos takes great pride in his work and even in the hard labor days he is happy to be creating. He had to cyst each piece of stone for the stair box and risers from huge chunky pieces and his price was fair, I had offers below but I didn’t have confidence in the masons work and I had offers that were above But to me seemed excessive. Carlos keeps his costs down by doing work himself and avoiding big equipment rentals when he can. I had faith in Carlos, and I think you can as well. Look at his portfolio and if u like something like it, or you have a picture you want him to use as guide- material, lay out etc, show him and hire him!"

"Juan did a very thorough job. He showed up, was very efficient getting my multiple painting projects done in a timely manner, great quality work and his rate was reasonable. I highly recommend Ethan Stone for your surface projects. Thank you Juan!"

"Steve came right out and built dams on each side of the tree belt piping, using pebbles and earth. Again, a very creative and skilled solution. By the time the health inspector came out, our storm water was flowing right into the street storm sewer, as required. The inspector's only comment was "whoever did this knew what they were doing". So this firm has demonstrated over several years just how effective they are. They stand by their clients years after a job is completed, and possess knowledge and expertise to solve thorny problems. An exceptional firm and team. I highly highly recommend them."

"Wonderful. They worked with the Town for all permitting and were prompt and professional every step of the way. They were incredibly responsive to my questions and left my yard looking better than before (after the grass seed they put down came in!)"

"They are fine.  It was a good experience. I just found a different source.  They are primarily a new product, but I ended up finding old Boston cobblestones.  IT is hard to find cobblestones since people had thrown a lot of them away.  I had gone to the location."

"We had an issue with them when they were digging the slates caved in our front steps. They haven't done anything to warrant that and now we have to spend the money to put in new steps. I thought they'd take some money off the bill but we haven't even heard back from them about it. Other than that they did a good job. Their price was high."

"Joe was great to work with. JD lets you pick any material you want from the price he quotes you. Originally I met JD at the Big E with a big display. I really thought it was going to be the most expensive. To my surprise they came in the middle some where. They also provide a 5 year guarantee. Before hiring I looked at the reviews on here and on BBB. They all sounded ridiculous to me. I usually only hire A+ rating, but with this project I made an exception given they had hundreds of example projects to show and show past work years later and people call them back for more. I will be calling them back for more too if I want any walk way or anything else done. What my favorite part about JD is how efficient they are. My project would of taken a week + if any other contractor now days. Mean while JD did it in 2 days.  <br> <br>The project it self come out amazing! and exceeded my expectations. The retaining wall looks great, patio looks great. I even changed materials like 4 times with 1 week to go before start time and JD was cool with it, other contractors would be a bit mad. You also can pick any style with these guys, something very very unusual I found without a mark up on the price. Was JD the cheapest? No, but other contractors were not even giving me an all inclusive price. The other contractors broke it down so much I had to add for them. JD just gave me a price for the whole thing.  <br> <br>To me timing of work being done was an issue since I work from home I did not want people for 2 weeks here. Instead all it took was 2 days and up to code! And with a 5 year guarantee. Guarantee with a contractor yeah, right, but JD is at home shows and I will find him if anything goes wrong, this to me is worth a bit a premium. Other contractors said things like "I guarantee you won't have a problem here" without giving an actual guarantee like JD. Do you have to maintain your patio every 2 years yes of course you do. The other review of the guy that never hired JD is dumb, reviews should not be allowed unless you hire the person. The contractor must feel confident with the customer as well. And I have a hard time believing the JD missed a lead too, he is quite the business man, and in fact I is so impressive he might turn into a mini Warren Buffet like figure since he is so young with such great companies.  <br> <br>These guys are so efficient I would totally hire them again. People might be ****** off thinking they only spend 2 days on a $20k+ project, however, they don't even take breaks and work from 7am until 6pm if needed if not longer I am sure, no doubt. Every worker of them is like having 3 guys really in another crew. Bottom line is that if you want your outdoor space to have style hire these guys! I know I am loving my space.  <br> <br> <br> <br>"

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in North Brookfield, MA

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
