My new unit was installed this morning by two technicians who worked efficiently and who kept me in the loop about the new equipment, thermostat, warranty, and FAQs. They were polite, neat & tidy. Well recommended."

"I scheduled an AC repair appointment for 8-10-17 at 8:00 am and the technicians arrived 8:45 am the same day. Connie, the customer service rep., called to let me know of their arrival. She was so sweet and seemed genuinely concerned about my AC issues. These Gentlemen were nice, kind, and respectful too. They diagnosed my dual capacitor was bad, explained the procedure, and cost. I agreed to work and cost. The technicians finished the work quickly. Before they left, they checked to make sure the AC was cooling my home. After the technicians left my AC stopped working. No one was available until the next morning, Upon arrival, the technician was very courteous. He checked the AC unit inside and out, then found my fan motor was bad. The technician knew my unit was older and the part would be hard to find. He called all the local stores and they had none available, so he had to order it online and the part arrived 8-15-17. Connie was on the phone calling to tell me the technicians were on their way. The technicians installed the motor quickly and made sure it worked properly. We had to suffer hot temps but this company made up for it. They reduced my payment amount and even called to make sure my unit was cooling my home off. This company has my business now and in the future."

"Sooo....first, Jim is a very nice guy.  However, Jim now works in Nashville during the week and is only home to the Huntsville area on the weekends.
My first impression of him was that he was awesome.  My computer system had crashed because I pulled the plug during a thunder storm before the computer fully shut down which resulted in the computer hanging up.  Jim took my call while in Tennessee and suggested how to fix the system.  For this I am very grateful.

What happened next was I had him come and check my computer to make sure everything was working properly.  He came to my house and spent an hour tweaking it (basically running various checks on the system), for which I paid him $50.  He suggested that my laptop would work much better if I had Windows 7 and increased my RAM up to 4 GB.  He said he could install it for me for (including the RAM) for about $160.  We met the following weekend for the handoff and he loaded Window 7.  When I received the call it was ready, the bill was $227.50.  I was surprised that is was $70 more than quoted, but paid it anyways.  When I asked about the RAM, he mentioned he did not upgrade the RAM and this would be another $60.  I was a little discouraged at that point since I felt like I was being taken advantage of, but the guy is relatively nice, so I said to go ahead and order the RAM.  He did so and the following weekend was supposed to install it.  Due to some personal things in his life, he wasn't able to install it, so I picked it up since I had to go out of town and could use the IT guy at my new location to install it for me.  When we went to install the RAM, the system wouldn't let us do it since my particular type of laptop can only take 2GB of RAM max.  If Jim had gone to the crucial.com website (where he bought my RAM) and entered my computer system on it, it would have told him the max amount of RAM that could be installed on that unit.  He did not do that.  He is supposed to refund my $60 this next weekend.

I think if Jim wasn't burning the candle at both ends by having a job in Tennessee during the week and trying to run this business on the weekends, it would've been a better experience.  Perhaps taking a few extra minutes to SLOW DOWN and write out an estimate of everything he would need for the job including the prices would ensure people know up front how much the repair would/should cost so they can budget accordingly.  I think if he had taken that approach, it might've been a better experience.  So now I am stuck with a laptop that runs slower because Windows 7 uses more memory and a laptop that can't be upgraded to more RAM.  Basically, the last step which cost me almost $300 was not necessary.  If you need something simple done like coming back from a system crash, he would be okay to use.  Otherwise, for the bigger jobs, I recommend he provide a written estimate with the items he plans to do.

UPDATE:  After posting this review, I received a number of text messages from Jim commenting on the bad review.  I understand he is upset, but harassing someone about a review is not a good way to go.  My review was honest and not meant to be mean, but to let those that use Angie's list get what they pay for...an honest review of someone's experience."

"The entire experience was great.  There is no such thing as perfect, but when there was a problem AAA handled everything very well.  The first thing they did was came out and removed all the insulation and junk left in the crawl space by they previous owners of the house.  Then they spent several days trenching around the base of the foundation so they could install the drainage pipe.  After the pipe was installed they covered it with gravel that they had to move from the edge of our property because a dump truck couldn't get closer and then get it under the house.  All of the water runs to a sump pump at the corner of the house.  After that was completed they installed a new vapor barrier, sealed off the crawl space completely and installed a dehumidifier in the crawl space instead of putting in new insulation.
I purchased the dehumidifier separately from dehumidifierexperts.com whom I would also recommend.
All in all I am very pleased with the folks at AAA and would recommend them to anyone.

He provided me the potential problem for my heat pump issues on the phone that eventually was confirmed during his initial visit and then during disassembly of the old duct system. He was very helpful in providing me additional savings and existing tax credits for the Attic Breeze vent system installed including for the heat pump providing me with the forms. "We had originally scheduled this service for the weekend in which Northern Virginia experienced the severe windstorm  known as "dorecho". Due to serious wind damage and blocked roadway, the appointment had to be canceled and re-booked. This was no problem for us and we planned to reschedule a few weeks later. As it turned out, we couldn't agree on a date until over a month later. Still not a problem for us. We scheduled a late afternoon appointment because only workdays were available and both my wife and I work away from home. Upon returning home to meet the service person, we found a business card in the door stating that we had missed the appointment (he came early) and to call to reschedule. My wife called immediately and reached the dispatcher who was able to contact the service person and have him return that day to perform the service. Upon arrival the technician performed a thorough cleaning and inspection of our chimney, fireplace and a woodstove  located in the basement. He delivered good news - all equipment was in good shape and unknown to us, our chimney had been upgraded by the previous owner with stainless steel liners. This would save us thousands of dollars because we want to install modern wood burning appliances requiring this upgrade! We were handed a thorough inspection report which can be used by the installers to prove that no further work is needed when the appliances are installed. All told, it was a very good service and the technician went the extra mile to answer all of our questions.

"AHS is ok. They cover repairs of most everything under the roof of your house. The companies that contract with them are not always the best. You call AHS with the issue, they send a fax to the repair company and give you the contact info. If they don't contact you within 24 hours, you call them. Sometimes they answer, sometimes they don't. When they arrive (usually three days or so later), they service the item. if it has issues within the 90 days, you call AHS again, they are sent out with no charge. If the serviceman decides the unit is unrepairable, AHS will allow you to choose a replacement from their listing (usually not as good as what you have) they will install and remove your old item, or give you wholesale amount to buy and install your own. Prices vary on what you want covered and what you want the copay to be, plus where you live. For me it is 49.99 per month with a 75.00 time of service order. You can have more than one item serviced at the same time under the same fee. If you have a SEAR product the repair guys are great. Not that wild about the other ones they send out. But it is a big savings compared to calling someone on your own. The cost of service is only the 75.00 copay."
