"I LOVE my kitchen cabinets.  Everything went very smoothly.  I did obtain estimates from 3 different contractors and Mark's Spray Painting was in the middle.  However, I believe the cost was worth it.  There were a couple of things that helped me make my decision to choose Mark's; the process that they do and also a personal recommendation from someone that used them.  I am so happy with the final result.   <br /> Paul & Co. picked up all the doors and drawers on January 2nd to take to their shop for processing/painting...they returned on January 16th to work on the cabinet base/frames.  They completely sealed off the kitchen from the rest of the house and taped off walls, windows, counters, etc.  They filled holes, sanded, primed and painted.  They completed the work on January 17th...finished painting, replacing all hardware (pulls & hinges), and hanging doors.  I purchased my own pulls, but Paul provided the hinges, which I will say are an excellent quality. <br /> My kitchen looks 'new'...I would definitely recommend Mark's. <br /> <br /> <br />"

FAQs for furniture refinish projects in O Fallon, MO

A complete table refinishing project requires between four and eight days from start to finish. The actual hands-on work takes between two and 10 hours, with the remaining time dedicated to drying periods between applications. The stripping and sanding phases demand the most active labor, while applying finishes requires patience as each layer dries completely before proceeding.

Several elements influence dining table refinishing costs, with size being the primary factor. Larger tables or those with extensions require more materials and labor time. The wood type matters significantly—hardwoods may need specialized treatment compared to softer woods. The table's current condition also impacts pricing, as damaged surfaces need repairs before refinishing can begin.

Refinishing often proves more economical than purchasing a comparable quality replacement. Professional table refinishing costs between $150 and $400 on average, while preserving the original craftsmanship and character of your piece.

This approach makes particular sense for well-constructed wood furniture that would be expensive to replace with similar quality. For sentimental pieces or antiques, refinishing also maintains their history and personal value.

Professional furniture refinishers charge between $40 and $100 per hour for their services. This rate varies based on geographic location, the refinisher's experience level, and the complexity of the project. Some professionals offer project-based pricing rather than hourly rates, especially for standard-sized pieces like coffee tables or end tables. When requesting quotes, ask whether the estimate includes materials or represents labor costs only.

For tables with minor wear, you can sometimes refresh the appearance without complete stripping and sanding. Using gel stains and wipe-on finishes can address surface issues while preserving the existing finish underneath. This approach works best for tables with light cosmetic damage rather than those with deep scratches or damaged finishes. However, proper stripping and sanding remain necessary for comprehensive restoration or significant color changes for professional-quality results.
