Customers say: Quality work

"Bottom line up front: I would hire Maksim Max Chirva again if I needed more exterior/building work completed on my house in the future. Job: Repair/replace trim/siding on my two-story house prior to painting. Pros: current business license, bond, and insurance on file with WA state; communicative and responsive; fair cost estimates; no unnecessary padding in his estimate of scope of work; open to negotiation and discussion throughout the job; used high-quality materials; high-quality workmanship; efficient and thorough when on-site; corrected any of his own mistakes at no cost to customer; 85% cleanup job/hauling away old/used house trim materials. Cons: took a few days longer than necessary/than originally projected/proposed due to interspersed 4-day vacations (one or two days either side of a weekend - punctuality concern); lack of diligence keeping worksite cleaned of old/used caulk, nails, and wood chips from old trim (required a little bit of cleanup from customer)"

"Jerrod the owner of Archstone was emphatic to point out that he is one of the best if not the best and a very conscientious and honest man. He said the mortar on exterior house wall is very hard and can't be ground out. Per his expert advise the best things is pressure wash and scrape out loose and damaged mortar and use sponging technique to fill in cavities with type S mortar. I understood and agreed asking for care with pressure washer. Quote was $2922 before tax. He said the wall wouldn't look much better than it does now but he would get all the places having egregious deterioration and then seal. Two days work. Moving forward his team (him and a 18 year old nephew) came and went in less than 4 hours. Sealant remained to be done and I could see that cost was itemized at $400. I personally could do it in 1/2 hour so I asked him to scratch it from the price. He was very amenable to that. The issue arose when I was sealing I found and sent him photos of spots with severe erosion that were missed and should take about 1 hour to fix. Some on wall, one in bottom corner of house, one big seam in windowsill. I sent email and photos asking for him to return. He didn't reply. 1 week later I reached him by phone and he said he didn't get the email/or hadn't read it yet but he wasn't going to come back for 'pinholes' which I could do myself. First of all I could do everything myself but that's time that I paid him for. He is too busy to come. Photos are from the south wall as discussed."

"Great from Start to Finish We hired Signature Tile to do the tile work for two bathrooms in our home. Chad was great to work with from start to finish. We scheduled our project more than a month out because he is busy, and he started and finished on time. Clear communication throughout the project. This included making sure that we had the right tile and quantities, and that the bathrooms were ready for the work to begin. This made the job go so smoothly. There were no surprises. Chad kept the work areas clean as he progressed through the project. We wanted a change order mid-way through the project (add a shower niche that we had forgotten to include) and Chad was easy to work with, offered suggestions, and was clear on the additional price. The project areas were cleaner after Chad finished than when he started. The tile work looks great and we are very happy. We recommend Chad and Signature Tile without hesitation and will be using him for future tile needs. Thank you Chad."

"We purchased a house built in 1957 around 2.5 years ago and needless to say have had some major upgrade projects. Last on our list for the time being was upgrading electrical (panel needed to be updated, new circuits added, and lots of new switches and outlets). We've dealt with several contractors from insulation to plumbing, and have had pretty major issues with all of them. Working with Raincap has been great and I am happy to say say we had zero issues - from responsiveness, being upfront about all anticipated costs and providing different scenarios in case they ran into issues (which they inevitably did given our wonky wiring), and showing up when they said they would, to making certain we were satisfied with the work completed before sending the final bill. While we had an idea of what we wanted done, they were able to provide their professional opinion on the feasibility of what we thought we wanted and were also able to to provide alternative options (which ended up being much better than what we originally wanted). We would most certainly recommend their services to anyone else and will be referring them out as often as we can!"

"They came out and cleaned the chimney, but didn't bring the chimney cap part. Unfortunately, they took my old cap (so we have been without!!) and then left all the ashes from the cleaning in my yard for me to clean up. But they did spend a bunch of time writing up $5K estimate for "recommended repairs"."

"They did a great job with most of the work. It was very easy to set up the work. They had a great price, they're licensed and insured. The workers were very friendly, and they worked really hard to get things done well. There are a few spots on the trim that aren't quite right, and it looks like a few small places weren't caulked well. However, I'm really happy with the work."

"<p>Ron and his team were excellent from start to finish! The guys showed up first thing on Saturday morning, installed some scaffolding and started the work. Ron had a team of at least three guys on the job at all times - 2 on the roof and one on the ground. As you might imagine, demolishing 100+ square feet of mortar and stone and removing the wood frame from the chimney structure could create quite a mess! From start to finish the team from Cantrell Restoration ensured that the mess was kept to a minimum and that the surrounding roof structure, roofing, plants, etc. weren't damaged during the process. The debris from the demolition, which was substantial, was neatly contained on two tarps set up in the yard so as not to damage the underlying grass. The site was meticulously cleaned during each day and at the end of each day to ensure minimal disruption to our routine. On several occasions I noticed the guy on the ground picking up debris the size of a pebble! When all was said and done, the roof and the surrounding area looked great!</p> <br /> The reconstruction of the chimney was top-notch. The wood structure was re-built and covered with plywood - not OSB as it originally had been. The entire structure was waterproofed and fully - and correctly - prepared to receive the new stone veneer. The metal top cap was removed and replaced with a newly fabricated piece - the original cap was a major cause of the overall problem as the top cap used on the original construction was not properly sized or installed. Overall, the construction throughout and the end product was of very high quality. <br /> One thing, among many, that impressed me was that the guys did everything they could - including working on both New Year's Eve AND New Year's Day! - to ensure the job was completed on time which it was. During construction at the end of each day the chimney was fully covered to ensure no leakage would occur while the new structure was being built and waterproofed. When the roofer arrived to finish buttoning everything up after the work on the chimney had been completed he even commented that the job was top notch and he felt comfortable that the new Chimney wouldn't leak. If it does, Cantrell has provided a written 5 year warranty so no worries on my part. <br /> Overall, this job from bid to finish was done professionally, on-time and even slightly under budget. While I would rather have not had to spend $6500 to fix a 6 year old chimney, I'm confident that the work done by Cantrell Restoration Company not only addressed the immediate issue with the leak but will continue to hold up and last for many years to come. I would have no issue recommending Ron and Cantrell Restoration Company for any construction related job. <br />"

"After interviewing three contractors, I chose Ryan (owner of J&R) because we had a good rapport, he offered the best suggestions on project specifics, and he was willing to negotiate price (some) and payment schedule. He and his team (Reese, Jake, Andrew) were quite knowledgeable and professional, and open to my questions and requests. Ryan let me purchase additional yards of soil beyond what was needed for the project, at his cost, and had his guys spread it for me - very nice. Once the project was done, I discovered a few loose ends, and they were quick to come back and take care of them. The finished retaining wall and leveled yard look great, although I'm not thrilled with the steps (see below). Overall, a good experience, and I would probably hire J&R again or recommend them to others. That said, there were a few bumps along the way, some of which are normal for a construction project but others seemed avoidable. - The project estimate was 8-10 days but ran into a third week. One problem was they didn't reserve the equipment they needed to get started, which caused a 3-day delay. But even when all the equipment and materials were there, they worked short days. The first week, very little got done, nobody was there more than a couple hours a day. The second week, they only worked 3-5 hours a day - until the end of the week, when the project should be complete, but was only half done, so they started working more. But not once was there an 8-hour day. The project would have been completed sooner with more productive days. As a project manager myself, I found this annoying, esp. when the extra days impacted my personal life and business. - They didn't talk to me about how the stairs would be laid down the hillside, and I'm not pleased with the result. Not what I expected, and I hope I don't scrape my legs or trip down them. My older, existing stairs at the other end of the wall may not look as nice but are more functional than the new, $1000 steps. - The finish and cleanup was incomplete. They didn't properly finish the end of the wall (capstones), they dumped green waste and leftover gravel in inappropriate locations, and they left part of my lawn (their staging area) a mess - gravel and debris, damaged areas. This necessitated a return visit the following week to address these issues, which were then completed to my satisfaction."

"They were absolutely fabulous and the most knowledgeable stone contractor I dealt with and there were 5 all together! They were completely professional and even when things took longer than they anticipated they did not charge me any more. I LOVE this company and will never use anyone else again! We had problems with 4 other stone contractors before they came in. They fixed all of my problems and were absolutely charming to deal with. They turned me on to some amazing cleaning products as well. I thought I had to replace our master shower enclosure and they gave me a stone cleaner that took ALL the hard water stains off of the shower door in a matter of minutes - I sprayed it on rubbed it in with no pressure at all waited 15 minutes and rinsed it off and it looked like a brand new shower. I had a cleaning business for 15 years and I never saw a product like it; it also cleans the stone in the shower of course. The owner Todd is incredibly knowledgeable and he can help you with any stone problem you have I am sure of it. They also gave me a 6 year warranty on all of the surfaces they sealed!"

FAQs for brick or stone siding: install or completely replace projects in Oak Harbor, WA

Brick siding offers numerous advantages, including high durability and resistance to harsh weather conditions, requiring minimal maintenance and lasting for generations. It provides natural insulation, enhancing energy efficiency by regulating indoor temperatures year-round. Brick is fire-resistant, improving home safety, and reduces external noise for a quieter indoor environment. Its timeless aesthetic appeal boosts curb appeal and can increase your home's resale value.

Yes, you can add brick to an existing house. One option is to remove the current siding and install full brick masonry, which involves laying traditional bricks with mortar for a solid brick exterior. Alternatively, you can opt for brick veneer siding, a thinner layer of real or manufactured brick applied over the existing structure. Brick veneer is typically more affordable and easier to install while still providing the aesthetic benefits of brick. Both methods can enhance your home's appearance and value.

Yes, installing brick siding often provides a significant return on investment. With an average ROI of around 77%, and some returns exceeding 80%, brick siding enhances curb appeal, energy efficiency, and longevity, making your home more attractive to potential buyers and potentially increasing resale value.

Brick siding is known for its exceptional longevity, often lasting over 100 years when properly maintained. Regular maintenance, like repointing mortar joints, ensures its durability over time. Brick veneer, while thinner than full brick masonry, is durable and can last up to 50 years or more with proper care. Both options offer long-lasting protection and value for your home.

When choosing brick siding, consider your budget, as costs can vary depending on brick type and installation method. Also, consider your desired aesthetic; different bricks offer various colors, textures, and styles to complement your home's architecture. Installation time and complexity are factors, with options like brick veneer being quicker and less labor-intensive than full brick masonry. Additionally, assess the maintenance requirements and durability to select the best option for your long-term needs.

Alternatives to brick siding include vinyl siding, which is cost-effective and low-maintenance and offers a variety of colors and styles. Wood siding provides a natural, classic look but requires more upkeep to prevent weather damage. Fiber cement siding is durable and can mimic the appearance of wood or masonry without the high maintenance. Each alternative has its own advantages, so consider factors like budget, aesthetics, and maintenance when making your choice.
