Clear without being condescending. <br /> My favorite Simon's story - I had some holes in my heat shield on my muffler. They came out and said the replacement was pricey and offered to do a much less expensive repair instead. Another shop had wanted to replace it a year before. Because they saved me money, they have made more from me because I won't take my car anywhere else. <br /> I didn't want to dock them for this, but because they are a smaller, local, independent shop, repairs can take a little longer than a huge chain.
