"Julie was easy to work with, however there were issues with quality/craftsmanship. Specifically, a tear in the fabric on one of the wings, loose fabric on both wings, the tips of the seat cushion did not have any foam/batting in it and the cushion cording was sewn in such a way that the seam hit right under the knee. Julie did come out and pick up the chair a replace/fix these issues and did so overnight, but we wished she had done the job with attention to those details the first time. <br />"

"Alpha Upholstery repaired the seat back of my 3-year-old sectional. The fabric was microfiber and was no longer available in catalogs. Alpha managed to locate enough of the fabric to make the repair <strong>and it is flawless</strong>. The crew from Alpha arrived at my home when they said they would. They were very careful not to damage or mar any of the surrounding furnishings, walls or floor. The repair was done very quickly, and the repaired piece was returned promptly. Oh yeah, the reason the couch needed repairs in the first place was that the owner (yeah, me) foolishly left a craft light with magnifying glass in front of the window next to the couch. It melted a 3and quot; long hole in the fabric! Expensive lesson. <br />"

"I took my new car to Simply Cool to have the windows tinted and a clear bra applied. They have almost 16 years of experience and really know their stuff. They have tint films available in many shades and at many price points. They know the law, and only install legal films, so I know they're not a shady contractor. I wouldn't trust a new car with just anyone, but both employees were clean cut, professional, courteous and very easy to work with. They explained the process and told me the price before the work started. They also took into account what I wanted as far as the bra (they did the front bumper, hood, headlights, fog lights, mirrors and also a strip on the trunk to protect when loading stuff. Installation was perfect, and my car looks incredible!! <br /> <br /> The shop is within walking distance of shopping and TRAX, so instead of waiting around it's easy to go find something to do. <br /> <br /> These guys are great to work with. I'm also having them come tint my house before the weather gets too hot. <br />"

"Clint, the owner, completed our work for us.  He was very knowledgable about his profession and extremely competent.  He always communicated with us about his arrival time and arrived when he said he would.  He matched the paint perfectly and did a fantastic job blending it.  He did the same with the staining work.  We liked him so much we hired him to refinish our wood french doors that were peeling.  Again, he did a great job!  He was very courteous and always cleaned up before he left for the day.  We highly recommend this painting contractor!  In addition, he also refinishes wood cabinets.  We did not use him for this service but he showed us some pictures and after seeing what a great job he did with our wood posts and door, I'm sure he does a great job making kitchens and bathrooms look great too! <br />"

FAQs for furniture refinish projects in Ogden, UT

A complete table refinishing project requires between four and eight days from start to finish. The actual hands-on work takes between two and 10 hours, with the remaining time dedicated to drying periods between applications. The stripping and sanding phases demand the most active labor, while applying finishes requires patience as each layer dries completely before proceeding.

Several elements influence dining table refinishing costs, with size being the primary factor. Larger tables or those with extensions require more materials and labor time. The wood type matters significantly—hardwoods may need specialized treatment compared to softer woods. The table's current condition also impacts pricing, as damaged surfaces need repairs before refinishing can begin.

Refinishing often proves more economical than purchasing a comparable quality replacement. Professional table refinishing costs between $150 and $400 on average, while preserving the original craftsmanship and character of your piece.

This approach makes particular sense for well-constructed wood furniture that would be expensive to replace with similar quality. For sentimental pieces or antiques, refinishing also maintains their history and personal value.

Professional furniture refinishers charge between $40 and $100 per hour for their services. This rate varies based on geographic location, the refinisher's experience level, and the complexity of the project. Some professionals offer project-based pricing rather than hourly rates, especially for standard-sized pieces like coffee tables or end tables. When requesting quotes, ask whether the estimate includes materials or represents labor costs only.

For tables with minor wear, you can sometimes refresh the appearance without complete stripping and sanding. Using gel stains and wipe-on finishes can address surface issues while preserving the existing finish underneath. This approach works best for tables with light cosmetic damage rather than those with deep scratches or damaged finishes. However, proper stripping and sanding remain necessary for comprehensive restoration or significant color changes for professional-quality results.
