"Remodeling work cause leakages in the gas lines. I made an appointment with the scheduler BUT Michael Bonsby called me to understand the problem and to explain/assure me that they would ensure a thorough check on the gas line/safety. Mark the specialist spent a good couple hours going through every corner of the gas/water lines and sent me a written report. And he spent time explaining the technical aspects so now I know how to maintain the system. Strongly recommend them for service. Good value to price. Peace of mind!"

"Perfect! Prime Plumbing answered on my first call and scheduled plumber to come out and inspect job and offer quote. I accepted immediately and the scheduled the job for exactly when I asked. The plumber, Donald, who came out to inspect and quote the job also did the job. He installed a new natural gas line and manifold, set up the pressure test for the county inspector, hooked the line up to BGE's meter after they ran the outside line, and then connected our new gas dryer and vent to the outside. He also supplied and installed a new sanitary sink and water supply and waste lines in our basement. His work was perfect! The price was very fair and competitive. Their office staff is friendly, helpful and answers the phone immediately. We will use Prime Plumbing for all of our future needs and they have our highest recommendation."

"They were very professional and knowledgeable. The company's rep knew exactly what size water heater we needed for the size of our house and explained all the details of their installation process. The day before the installation, they had Washington Gas come and change the regulators on our gas meter to accommodate the larger gas draw for the tankless water heater. The installation went exactly as planned. We had a problem getting our county to pass the installation inspection because the inspector didn't think our gas pipes were large enough for the high end gas draw when the unit was at max capacity. Tankless Concepts took care of contacting the head of the plumbing inspectors and arranging for him to do the 2nd inspection. One of the company's owners was here when the inspector arrived, explained how the unit worked and demonstrated that our current gas lines were adequate to power the new water heater. We passed with flying colors on the 2nd inspection. We highly recommend this company if you're looking to purchase a tankless water. heater."

FAQs for gas piping projects in Olney, MD

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
