"The project went really well and we love the new kitchen!   The house is over 100 years old and the existing kitchen was long and narrow with an inefficient design.  It was dark and musty with old metal cabinets and a sloping floor.  We found Burke Construction on Angie's list and made arrangements to meet with Jeremy, the owner of the company late in 2013.
  When he came to the house we told him our thoughts and he made some suggestions as to how we could rearrange the kitchen layout to make it more functional.   He brought an interior designer along for the second meeting who offered some additional ideas for brightening and modernizing the space, while keeping it in harmony with the rustic feel of the house. 
 
  Once we decided on a basic plan, Jeremy got back to us in a few days with a reasonably priced proposal that included several optional items; some of which we kept and others we did not.   He helped us keep our costs down by steering us to suppliers having sales (cabinets) or offering lower prices than competitors.  For the granite counters, once we decided what we wanted, he arranged to get the same stone for $2,250 less than what was quoted us by a popular local business.
  With the age of the house, the workers ran into some challenges that required extra work, especially relating to leveling the floor and ceiling.  They performed the necessary remediations at a nominal cost; and in some cases charged us nothing at all.   The various sub-contractors all seemed to take pride in their work and went the extra mile to do a quality job.   One of them told me they'd never seen a job as complex as this.
  While we met most of the sub-contractors, Jeremy was the primary person we dealt with.   He was always accessible and returned our calls promptly.  He is professional, reliable, well-educated and just a real nice guy who is easy to talk to and nice to have around.  He definitely knows his business and showed a genuine curiosity about the construction of the house.  On several occasions he took the time to investigate things outside the scope of the project (electric, roofing, attic access, air conditioning) in order to answer questions for us.  
 
  The project took a couple weeks longer to complete than was originally estimated, but this was largely due to the fact that this is a vacation house and we live two hours away, so we weren't able to readily meet with him as questions arose that required us to be on-premise.   In any case, Jeremy knew we needed the house to be ready for summer rentals and the kitchen was finished just in time.   
   We're very happy to have found Burke Construction and they will definitely be our go-to guys for future home-improvement projects."

"We had Mr. Iglesias come out on 2 occasions for quotes (2 different scopes of work).  Both times, he arrived on time and was very informative and helpful.  Part of the work involved ripping up grass next to where the concrete was laid and ruined the grass.  He came back a few days later and seeded the grass and made sure to tell us how to care for it so that we would have lush grass again, and it worked great.  Within a month, there was no way to tell what had been ripped up and what was original grass.  The concrete itself was laid perfectly.  We had an issue with water run off due to the slope of the existing slab, but that was fixed and we've had no issues since.  He also made sure to round the edges on the steps so that our 2 year old would not hit sharp edges if he happened to fall, this was very important to me and he did exactly what I asked.  The rain and snow have not damaged the concrete at all and we're confident that it will look good for years to come.  We were very happy with the service we received and the job was done very well.

"The water issue was in a small unfinished corner of the basement after a very heavy rain and only once since we moved in without mold issues- but I decided to get French drains and mold treatment done anyways for the entire basement. Bob gave me a good estimate and then tried matching the lowest estimate I had gotten (his was the second lowest but I decided to go with him). The installation work went smoothly (planning to get the basement refinished soon from one of his contractors who was there for the job so he knows where everything goes back) . Bob Steck was very responsive, funny and thorough. Their team was very professional. Did the work just as promised - no issues with dust and dirt during and after the job).
