"We contacted Hansen Brothers on the recommendation of our roofers to install the electrical outlet for a roof heat cable and to discuss our front steps project. Until this point, it was difficult to get anyone to accept the front steps project. Masonry contractors would not handle cement and cement contractors would not handle masonry. We needed a general contractor to help and Hansen Brothers came highly recommended. Bob Hansen sent his son over to check on the electrical outlet needs and Bob came to assess the front steps project. He listened to my requests and introduced us to a metal worker who would fabricate the new handrails. We made a railing selection and then we discussed the timing to complete the project. In the interim, Bob's son Eric installed the roof power outlet and back door sconce satisfactorily. We started the big project of the steps replacement mid-September and it took several weeks to complete, there was much to coordinate to get this project done properly. Bob was in constant communication about the progress. We had a bit of a slow down waiting for the cement contractor to deliver the concrete, but once that happened, everything else came together. The final electrical pieces and masonry work were completed shortly after the steps were done.  Everything turned out beautifully!  Bob's experience and familiarity with Chicago homes was evident. He gave sound advice and provided some excellent suggestions with our projects. Our neighbors have also commented on how well things turned out. I would indeed contract with Hansen Brothers again for my home projects and will recommend Bob Hansen to my family and friends. I feel we have finally found a trusted general contractor who is responsive who takes pride in his work.

"Thunder cold called me based on an an inquiry I did for window replacement services at one of the big box stores. They were not affiliated with that store but rather some mutual sharing of marketing information occurred.  This was fine as they were a high quality company, although I did not realize that my contact information had been circulated so widely.  I did also get calls from other firms.

The gentleman at Thunder really spent the time to listen to me and also gave me some good information. This was for replacement windows for my Mom's house (built in early '50s).  He really listened and brought over two products that definitely fit our needs.  The key details were that we wanted vinyl frames infused with a light wood texture (many vinyl frame products are just a uniform color) and one of these product also was using a new high density flexible foam as a separator between the panes of glass. I checked into this technology further and found it to be quite smart and a very good idea.

Thunder is an installer who can represent several different products.  His bid was priced very reasonably and from what I could see on AL and BBB the company had a good reputation.

Ultimately we did decide to go with another product from a different company but this choice was purely because of technical details of the window vendor's design (we had no issue with Thunder and felt that they really gave us superior service.  We would recommend Thunder to other customers and may consider them in the future for other jobs.

FYI - the design difference that cause us to go with another product was that even though the vinyl met our needs and window technology was great, we found that the vinyl extrusion process used was basically for a single style of piece.  In other words, the top and bottom of the window frame were made from the same extrusion as the sides.  Since the top and bottom are different, additional small vinyl pieces are inserted to make the complete window.  This ultimately takes space away from the glass area of the window.  My Mom's house has very short windows and the amount of glass space lost would have been a problem.  We found another vendor who had both the high density foam and a three extrusion process (top, bottom and sides are all different)  for wood colored vinyl. Had Thunder carried that product, we would have carefully considered them."

"I live in a condo building with 20 units and my neighbor below me had a leak in their kitchen coming from either my or my neighbor's apartment. It was slow leak and took a while to find so there was extensive mold and water damage in between the walls. 
I tried a number of other contractors who couldn't come out for weeks, but Greg agreed to come out the same day I called him. He reviewed the damage and got me an estimate and started working the same week. Greg and his crew were prompt and very friendly. They got to work immediately and explained the process thoroughly. They set up three blowers in my unit and one in the unit below me to dry everything out. During this process, they sealed my kitchen (but kindly gave me access to the fridge) and killed any mold present. 
The drying took the weekend and his crew came back promptly on Monday morning to remove everything, patch the walls and prime them for painting. They had to remove the dishwashers and Greg came back himself to install them when the plumbers wouldn't do it. Also they missed one drywall hole (I had seven of them) and he promptly sent out his guys to fix it. 
I'm very pleased with their work and would use them again in a heartbeat. It's rare to find a contractor who is so prompt and I really appreciated it. 
If you do use General Moisture Solutions, I suggest calling the number directly. His crew is busy but Greg always got back to me in a reasonable amount of time.
