"Lifetime Windows & Doors were great. We started thinking about replacing our aging aluminum frame windows a few years ago. We got visited by a door-to-door replacement window company and got a good quote. However, the windows were very “chunky” compared to our sleek aluminum windows. So we got a quote from the big replacement window company and got sticker shock. We then found that Milgard had replacement vinyl windows that we could get in black capstone (both internal and external color), but the replacement company never got back to us with a quote – even after many back and forth communications. We then found Lifetime Windows and Doors. Morgan and Lindsay were head and shoulders above all other vendors we worked with regarding communication. When we found out that Milgard was delayed with the black windows we wanted, they found that Simonton had a similar window and got us in their queue. Yes, it took a while to get windows, but Tony and Hugo did a great job, installing all 17 windows. We’re super happy with Lifetime Windows and Doors."

"Excellent. Could not be happier with both the quality of the windows and the installation process. There was an immediate noticeable difference in climate control and sound dampening. Their attention to detail during the estimate, window removal, installation and finish work made for a overall excellent experience, and I would gladly recommend them. The new windows greatly improve the look and comfort of my home."

"Clear Choice replaced 28 windows in our 21 year old home with Milgard Tuscany windows, including one kitchen garden window. They were not the cheapest bid. However, they were very professional and performed quality work. I believe it took appx four days to complete the job. The crew was always respectful and left the work areas clean. I would not hesitate to hire them again."

"We live in a 1923 bungalow with all of its original windows. When we bought the house three years ago, none of the windows functioned. We had to use dowels to hold the windows up, or we couldn't open them because they had been painted shut. It was distressing to think that we would have to replace them. Then we were told about Mitch and Gail from Sash Man. After three years, all of our windows are fully functional and we get to enjoy their original beauty. <br /> I'll never forget when they came the first time being told that when they were finished, both the top and bottom windows (all of our windows are double-hung) would fully function. They just smiled when I said that our windows weren't that type. Now, we can easily raise or lower each section with one finger. We lower the upper window in our kitchen when it gets too hot, and all that warm air flows right out. Both Mitch and Gail are delightful people, and are willing to take the time to explain what they are doing and why they are doing it. A special thanks to Mitch for his tips on how to do other jobs I need to do around the house."

"Lu was very professional and answered all of my questions.  For the issues on my window, she recommend that I would be less expensive to just replace the insulated gas unit instead of replacing the entire window.  She put my interests above her own need to make money.   <br /> Very professional.  I would use them in a heart beat if I needed to buy new windows. <br /> <br />"

"Many of the windows in our house were painted shut when we bought <br>the house years ago. We lived with it. But high temperatures over the <br>past couple of years made these rooms increasingly uncomfortable. <br>So, we were delighted to learn of Fresh Air Sash Cord Repair, Inc. in Portland <br>that restores stuck windows to their original working condition. This entails a lot <br>of careful detailed work to free-up the windows by removing the lead paint, <br>re-balancing the original weights and installing new cords. Patty Spencer,  <br>the owner, and her assistant worked like surgeons. They set up an air-tight <br>enclosure in each room to contain the lead paint. Vacuums were on <br>almost all the time for further safety. Different electric tools were used <br>for different tasks to minimize damage to the windows. The outcome <br>is fantastic! All seven windows she repaired now work perfectly.  <br>There is nothing like a window that opens for cross ventilation <br>on a hot day. The cool early morning breeze through an open window <br>makes it easier to sleep. <br> <br> <br>"

FAQs for new windows service projects in Portland, OR

Yes, bay windows add value to a home. They enhance the property by expanding the interior space and flooding rooms with natural light. Their unique three-panel design creates a stunning focal point that elevates curb appeal and modernizes living areas. This architectural detail increases both functional space and visual appeal, directly contributing to higher home resale value.

Yes, all window types have the potential to become part of a bay window configuration when modified correctly. The transformation involves reconfiguring standard windows into a multi-panel design that features a larger central window flanked by smaller ones. This process requires precise professional planning and custom framing to ensure durability, visual balance, and structural integrity.

Bay windows typically consist of three glass panels extending beyond the home's exterior walls, with a larger center panel flanked by two smaller ones. In contrast, bow windows are composed of four to six equally sized glass panels that create a gentle curve and do not extend as far from the exterior walls.

Bay windows cost more than standard windows because their expansive, multi-panel design requires additional materials and skilled labor. Their construction involves extra glass, specialized frame components that extend outward, and complex operating mechanisms. These technical demands necessitate precise engineering and multiple expert installations, thereby significantly increasing both material and labor expenses.

Bay windows cost three times more than standard double-hung windows because their design requires extra panels, expanded framing, and a more complex installation process. The advanced construction method increases material consumption and demands comprehensive expertise, while specialized window treatments further elevate expenses. This all results in a significant difference in overall project cost.
