"Our home is about 9 years old and we were quite shocked to have a leak in our main water supply line coming from the street to our home. We contacted several plumbers and listened to their approach as to how they were going to determine where the leak was coming from and whether they were going to repair a section or replace the entire water supply line. After meeting with the different plumbing contractors, we learned different methods of running a new water main line since it appeared that we would need it. We received new pieces of information from each proposal. We did not like living without water, however; since it was a big financial commitment, we did not want to be pressured or feel rushed into making a quick decision. On Saturday evening we sent an email requesting a quote from Mahon Plumbing and much to our surprise, we received a call just minutes after the email was sent. An appointment was made for the next day (Sunday). Immediately after meeting Greg, the owner of Mahon Plumbing, we knew his approach was the right course of action. With 100% confidence, he knew we just needed a repair, NOT a replacement of the entire main water line. He quickly identified where the leak was originating and guaranteed that ONLY a repair was necessary thus avoiding any sidewalk, walkway, underground sprinkler system or landscaping damage. We knew he was the right person for the job. Greg was well EXPERIENCED, HONEST, UPFRONT, had INCREDIBLE INTEGRITY, AND RESPECT for protecting our home by NOT automatically approaching our project by using heavy equipment, tearing up our sidewalk, walkway, underground sprinkler system, and landscaping to make it an easier job. We hired him on the spot. We had lower estimates for the repair. Most people would have used his confidence of a repair and gone with the cheaper proposal; however, we knew that we would incur additional expenses to repair/replace our landscaping, lawn, underground sprinkler system, and walkway. In the end, if we chose the cheaper proposal, it perhaps would have cost us the same, if not more. It may have felt better to spend less upfront, but, in the long run, it was far better to hire the RIGHT person would do the RIGHT job from start to finish. It was wonderful to see our property taken care of with such pride, as if it were theirs. Our grass was restored perfectly and they even did a repair on our sprinkler line. They left our walkway, landscaping, lawn, and underground sprinkler system intact. Not only did they do a perfect job for us, they had respect for the BAY and cleaning up the debris so it wouldn’t wash into the sewer system. Sometimes you pay a little more up front, but it saves aggravation and additional unexpected expenses in the end. Separately every plumber submitted a proposal for a continuous running sump pump. Every proposal recommended that we needed to replace the sump pump. However, Mahon Plumbing suggested that it might only need to be repaired. Only the backflow valve needed to be replaced. Again, Mahon Plumbing’s approach was correct! A special thanks to everyone at Mahon Plumbing for performing perfect workmanship. If you are looking for a true professional, then Mahon Plumbing should be your first and only call. T"

Customers say: Quick response

"Ward plumbing came at the time he said he would, did the job and gave me a reasonable price. There was a slight issue with the repair and he had to be called out back out again. I wasn't provided with a time for the recall and, consequently, waited around for Ward Plumbing to call me which was a waste of my day. Nevertheless, the problem with my hot water heater has been fixed and is working again."

"I called the company directly to explain my problem and mentioned I had a $99 coupon offer that would pay for them to come out and give me 30 mins of time. Tech arrived on time, suggested the suspect wall receptacle / plug be replaced and I agreed. I did not see the old receptacle parts so am suspect a replacement was actually done. He then plugged in a replacement fan (that I had purchased) and took down the old one from a bathroom fan-good. What I did not expect was to get hit with a "van parts and gas fee" to the tune of $64 in addition to the coupon fee. Most vendors charge a flat fee to come out to you and that "gas fee" is bundled into that. To their credit, they did state that fee would be added AFTER I had scheduled the appointment (it was stated in their email to me confirming the appointment, I just had not read far enough into the email). Also, when presented with the bill from the tech, it had NOT taken into account their $99 Angies list coupon rate. They wanted to charge me a full $100 more. The original total WAS something on the order of $199 (initial 30 minutes of time)+ $64 (gas and parts fee) + $35 (wall outlet) for two very simple bits of work. Effectively $300 for 30 mins work. That's ~ $600/hour. Even divorce lawyers (partners) don't charge that much. Fortunately they honored the coupon, dropped the new outlet fee and waived the gas and parts fee and I survived with just a $129 cost. I dinged them on price because: Company did not communicate to tech the $99 coupon rate (bad), and, more importantly, the owner, who I spoke to on the phone, COULD HAVE MENTIONED the "gas and parts" fee, upfront, but chose to slip it into a confirming email. Both owner and tech were nice enough, but it was the process that felt a bit underhanded. Did the tech REALLY not get told about the coupon or did they hope I would not pay attention? Best bet is to buy a package deal from them for a flat rate and GET IN WRITING all costs--up front. And finally, I've spent 20 minutes of precious time writing this review when all I should have to do is click "A" across the categories had everything been up-front and above-board. sigh..."

"When installing the hot water bib the plumber drilled thru the wall and hit 2 wires. This was something I asked him to do while he was there. A check for wires prior to drilling in a hole would have saved me hundreds of dollars"

"Albout 14 units replaced but there were some issues with cabinets that had to be repaired since the employee damaged the doors. The damaged was repaired. There was a clall back on several of the heaters but that was a function of the heater manufacturer. These items were addressed and put in working order. There was some concern that the heaters were seconds but we were assured that this was not the case. I think the job was too large and smaller jobs will be handled apropriately

"I called 3 handymen from Angie's List and Howard was the only one who called back. He came over the next evening to see what was needed, and gave me a quote on the spot. We scheduled the work right then. We may have to get him to re-trim the window b/c the trim we bought is too wide (totally our fault, not his b/c we're the ones who bought the trim). But when we get back to finishing the basement, we will be calling Howard! These were all a bunch of little things that I was worried would add up to a lot, but when I found out the price, it was more than fair. When he was finished, we asked him for a price to come back and replace the trim on the front of the house. He said we didn't need to replace it, he just needed to clean, seal, and re-paint. We told him that he could schedule that at his leisure b/c we just want it completed within the next couple months. He's supposed to call and schedule that work. I guess the fact that we're getting him to come back speaks to how happy we are with him. I am definitely recommending him to family and friends!"
