"Heather Pfeifer in the last week Our HVAC system went out after 13 years and I had five different companies come out to give me a bid. Tim put together a proposal that couldn't be beat. Not only was his bid 20%-30% lower than all of the other companies, but he spent a lot of time answering my questions (I had an entire page!), carefully going every option but NEVER pushing me to purchase anything we didn't need. Moreover, told us of a great financing deal that would start the following week through TRANE (0% for 60 months). Since we fully expected our downstairs unit to conk out in the next year or two (same age), we decided to bite the bullet and replace both units, including our furnace. Tim helped us put together a hybrid unit that will significantly reduce our reliance on propane , which is so costly. Ultimately, our new systems are expected to reduce our energy bills by 20-30%. To top everything off, Tim had his crew come in the day before installation to clean all our ducts for free, and included 2 years of free service of both systems. He was beyond generous, and he went above and beyond to make the entire experience pleasant. The installation team (Bill, Jay, Mark, Richard) arrived on time and were nothing but professional and courteous. They spent the entire day installing the units, and were extremely careful to keep things clean and orderly. At the end of the installation, they went over both systems with me, reviewed all of the paperwork/contracts, and walked me through our new hi-tech thermostat. "I used Sila Heating Cooling and Plumbing service a few weeks ago because my HVAC system was giving me trouble. This was during the start of the heat wave and for some reason outside unit/condenser unit stopped working. The Inside unit was still working/blowing, but the condenser did not work. I called up Sila and they were able to send someone out right away. There was a program deal, so the charge to send someone out to inspect the problem was reduced to $79.00. Tyler Brawner was the technician they send out to inspect my unit. He not only found the issue, which was a worn out capacitor that needed to be replace. He clean the unit, and checked on my inside unit to make sure it was cooling properly. Tyler was a great tech who was transparent enough too discussed and guided me through everything he was doing, and provide me with some at home maintenance tips for my system. It’s about one month now and the unit is running as normal. Everything all together cost $313.37, I will definitely use their company again, check back with them close to winter to inspect the heating portion of the system."

"My air conditioning (electric heat pump) failed on Sunday and I spent the day thinking I could somehow fix it myself before giving up and checking Angie's List for HVAC service providers. I prefer to use a local/family business when possible, and I selected H & F Service based on Angie's List reviews. I was not disappointed in the least. I called early in the morning on Monday (before 7 am) and was able to get a same-day service appointment within my requested time frame (after 2 pm). I was given a 3:00 - 5:00 window for the appointment to start. Mike called at 3:30 and told me he would be there in half an hour. He arrived promptly at 4 pm, listened to my account of what happened, and by 4:20 had diagnosed the problem as a failed control board on the air handler unit. He made a few phone calls and by 4:30 had found the part in stock, but that supplier closed at 5:00. He quoted me a complete price for the part and the repair, and once I gave him the go-ahead, he literally ran out of my house to make sure he could get the part in time to fix it the same day. By 6 pm I had air conditioning again and Mike had written up a full inspection of my unit (we just bought the house this past winter and had not had the unit serviced on our own yet). Mike even went out of his way to answer a few questions I had about my ductwork and the condition of my unit unrelated to this service call. Look, professional HVAC service is not cheap. If I had gotten Mike's quote, and then called/paid a few other companies to come out to do their own diagnosis and quote, I probably could have found somebody out there to do it cheaper. But I would have been without AC in July during that time, and I honestly liked/trusted Mike to do the job honestly and well the same day, which was more important to me than making sure I got the cheapest price possible. He was professional, and even sweet to my curious 3 year-old daughter who followed him around wearing her toy tool belt the whole time, he used a quality replacement part, and he performed quick, quality work without trying to scam or sell me on anything he didn't need. He let his work and professionalism speak for itself, and now he's got a return customer for HVAC service/maintenance. I highly recommend H & F service."
