"Shane seemed to be very busy and was slow to respond to my calls <br /> . <br /> When finally able to come to the house to prepare an estimate, there was no indication by his truck or attire that he was a professional, (no business license, business name displayed). <br /> When the estimate arrived it was for the cheapest job possible (which may have been my fault for mentioning that I wanted to sell the house). <br /> Even though he knew that there had been a major leak into the house and shop, the estimate was for applying a second layer of shingles over the top of the bad ones, with provision for other repairs as indicated.......... I obviously have damaged plywood. <br /> To further save money it was suggested that I obtain the permit. <br /> This all may be good for someone desperate to save money, but it is not what I had in mind. <br /> A little better communication on both our parts, may have produced a different result. <br />"

"On the job date, 5/16/13, he showed up on time and began to work immediately on the brick hearth/mantel that I needed for the wood stove. I had four different colors of brick that needed to be varied within the hearth and mantel and he mixed them throughout very nicely. He started with the mantel, vented for heat/air circulation, allowed for the electrical outlet, and grounded the wood stove with wire through the brick, and finished with the hearth in one day. I had asked for a specific color to be mixed in the grout and he mixed it to the exact brown I wanted it to be. He worked hard and steady all day to finish the job and every brick was lined up evenly and all was secured to the wall with heavy wire and brackets. He did bring a friend to help with carrying brick and mixing the grout to the correct color. Overall, the job was done perfectly the way I thought it should be and he cleaned up everything after the job was completed. I would definitely call Creative Masonry for work needed in the future and gladly refer them to friends and family. <br />"

"We are so pleased. After such a disappointing experience with the first contractor (sadly also someone we found on Angie's list) , it was difficult to find someone to even take the job. Kevin not only agreed to take the job but he listened to everything we wanted and kept us updated with every thing he was going to do. Any job that was subcontracted out, he checked and double checked and fixed any problems as they came along. We plan to remodel the entire house and hope Kevin will consent to do each job.Anyone who has any questions about KMS or the contractor we had before...can email me with questions . Email address is tjspics@gmail.com. Pics are available for both projects <br />"

FAQs for brick or stone siding: install or completely replace projects in Redding, CA

Brick siding offers numerous advantages, including high durability and resistance to harsh weather conditions, requiring minimal maintenance and lasting for generations. It provides natural insulation, enhancing energy efficiency by regulating indoor temperatures year-round. Brick is fire-resistant, improving home safety, and reduces external noise for a quieter indoor environment. Its timeless aesthetic appeal boosts curb appeal and can increase your home's resale value.

Yes, you can add brick to an existing house. One option is to remove the current siding and install full brick masonry, which involves laying traditional bricks with mortar for a solid brick exterior. Alternatively, you can opt for brick veneer siding, a thinner layer of real or manufactured brick applied over the existing structure. Brick veneer is typically more affordable and easier to install while still providing the aesthetic benefits of brick. Both methods can enhance your home's appearance and value.

Yes, installing brick siding often provides a significant return on investment. With an average ROI of around 77%, and some returns exceeding 80%, brick siding enhances curb appeal, energy efficiency, and longevity, making your home more attractive to potential buyers and potentially increasing resale value.

Brick siding is known for its exceptional longevity, often lasting over 100 years when properly maintained. Regular maintenance, like repointing mortar joints, ensures its durability over time. Brick veneer, while thinner than full brick masonry, is durable and can last up to 50 years or more with proper care. Both options offer long-lasting protection and value for your home.

When choosing brick siding, consider your budget, as costs can vary depending on brick type and installation method. Also, consider your desired aesthetic; different bricks offer various colors, textures, and styles to complement your home's architecture. Installation time and complexity are factors, with options like brick veneer being quicker and less labor-intensive than full brick masonry. Additionally, assess the maintenance requirements and durability to select the best option for your long-term needs.

Alternatives to brick siding include vinyl siding, which is cost-effective and low-maintenance and offers a variety of colors and styles. Wood siding provides a natural, classic look but requires more upkeep to prevent weather damage. Fiber cement siding is durable and can mimic the appearance of wood or masonry without the high maintenance. Each alternative has its own advantages, so consider factors like budget, aesthetics, and maintenance when making your choice.
