We are a small residential general contractor licensed in Oregon offering a variety of carpentry services indoor+outdoor. \n\nOur professional background was largely in finish carpentry services working for well established companies in the industry: all door types, closet systems, railings, hardware and a variety of millwork ranging from baseboards, door casings, window casings, handrails, crown molding, etc. If it was made from wood and is inside your home, we did it.\n\nWe do outdoor work as well ranging from fences, decks, exterior doors/trim, etc.\n\nOur time in the trades taught us there is a right way and a quick way to do things and the RIGHT WAY is what we are most passionate about. "Fine Finish impressed us from the first meeting. Mark provided excellent ideas and drew out some plans while we sat down with him on his computer program, so we could see what things would look like. They were about 2 weeks out on estimates, but Mark referred us to his cabinet builder to work with in the mean time, and he (Cliff) was great. 
Once the cabinet budget was set, the estimate came through within about a week, a few days after the initial timeline, but Mark was communicative throughout and let us know work on the estimate and plans was progressing. The budget came in over budget, so Mark let us know what things we could help with, and provided some other ideas to get within a design we loved, with the cabinet line we wanted, and a budget we could live with. 
I work from home, and from what I could see, the project ran smoothly. There was some dust and noise during the demo, but the team screened off the area so it didn't come into the rest of the house. Mark arrived on site daily, did quality checks, progress reports with his team and provided us with weekly updates. 
The cabinets, countertop and backsplash all work so well together the visual effect is stunning. Friends love hanging around the island (which is a new addition), and we love the extra space. 
Our kitchen looks fabulous and we are thrilled with it.

During the demo part, they ran into some unplanned issues with the flooring, and then later with the tile itself but they always made it work or suggested the best options to move forward. I exchanged emails and pictures in advance of my appointment, and got some details about what to expect including the names of both workers. The workers arrived a bit early (so much better than late:-), I showed them what I needed, and one person started the work while I went to the hardware store with the other fellow to purchase the materials needed.

There was one drywall project that I thought would require an expensive repair. Instead, they fixed it easily and I was thrilled. 

They fixed a crooked cabinet in my kitchen that had been driving me crazy.

 They replaced door trim and added baseboard trim to several rooms, including the kitchen. After they left I discovered that they'd actually moved the refrigerator and put trim on that portion of floor too! I didn't even think to request this and was so happy to see it. Clearly, they take their work seriously and wanted to do the best job possible, but this was above and beyond and I'm so happy!

I'd purchased a block of hours at a discount from Angie's list, and they finished my tasks a few minutes early. So they offered to do a few other minor things instead of packing up immediately. Wonderful!

I am so very pleased with this company. I would absolutely use them again and would recommend them to anyone. The work they did for me was simple, but given the level of quality and attention to detail, I'd trust them with something larger without hesitation.

"I cannot speak highly enough of Tom and Brad Green of Colonial Restorations. We have lived in our antique house for 16 years now, and like most old homes, some of its previous repairs were good, some not so good. Tom Green worked on this house for its previous owners, and his work was, by far, the best in the house. So, we continued to use Colonial - Tom, then Tom and Brad - as we learned the ropes about caring for an old house - our first house, old or new. Over the years, they have replaced sills and posts and beams, and rebuilt parts of our loose stone foundation. Most recently, they replaced the last original posts in our basement, (one of which was a tree trunk still with bark on it), including pouring new custom footings, in advance of our finally cementing the dirt floor. The work here is never easy - nothing is level, nothing is square - but the Greens' end result has always been beautiful - strong and made to last. Their prices are fair and without hidden costs....maybe not the lowest bid you might get, but you know it's a real bid that they will stand behind. They triage projects for us, giving us an idea of what other items will likely need attention in the next few years. We're not done with this house yet....we've never won the lottery, and there's always another repair..... and plan to use them again soon. I feel confident knowing that the next owners of this house, whoever they might be, will see the quality of the work and know that we cared enough to have the right people help us with the ongoing repair and maintenance of a 275+ year old house. I am a real person, a real customer, with no ties to the company, and was more than happy to write this review."

"We hired Western Builders Inc. for our bathroom remodel and they transformed it into a beautiful warm space filled with finish trim details and lighting, The remodel was quite heavy, needed lots of structural repairs from water leaks in the past the floor was collapsing in some areas, needed new plumbing, electrical, all the fixtures bigger window, added dividing wall with pocket door and lots more, they exceeded our expectation, We are absolutely thrilled with the result and grateful for the excellent work and commitment, Sam the owner and Bill the onsite foreman are just a pleasure to work with, and their crew were very respectful and careful of our home during remodel, They adhered to the schedule and budget everything went like clockwork. We definitely recommend them to anybody for any type of remodel, kitchen or bathroom."

"I bought their contractor for a day at $300.00 which seemed like a deal. The thought was an online video indicated that the project could be done in one day by an inexperienced person. I met with the owner and we agreed that maybe it would take two of his experienced experts An entire day (so $600). We had challenges right in the beginning. There was an electricity outage in the neighborhood that slowed work as they could not use their saws or drills, then the two guys spent a long time arguing about how to do it, then the first four hours were up and one guy left and the other guy diligently stuck around to make up for the time wasted arguing and manually sawing which I appreciated(just to back up a second I had called the owner in the morning to discuss the outage and rescheduling and we had agreed that it would be okay as the equipment had batteries). The manager and I worked out a deal to bring out the one guy for an extra day at the same rate to finish it up and I want to say that I ended up adding one more day but this was two years ago. Nice hard working guy, just slower and less efficient than others I had worked with (in his defense he cost half as much). In the end my under deck roof is okay...it has a lot of spots that leak so my level of satisfaction is not high. In the end I got the work done at $600 (or was it $900?) This was a while back. It took two days I think, maybe three. At the end of the day I paid a C price for C quality work. In retrospect I could have recruited my brother to help me do it but it would have taken us four times as long and I can’t say the quality would have been better. Honestly if I had bid the whole job itself another crew might have charged me $3,000+. So with labor and materials I paid $1,200 maybe $1,500 and it’s adequate. I did appreciate the managers flexibility in extending the special price over additional days and letting the one guy stick around to make up for the bickering and electrical outage."

"The cover and the leaf covers were a perfect fit and of excellent quality. We paid $99 for the complete set--usually a cover like this costs about $400. they are made to match the wood of the table and look great. They came promptly."
