"<p>We had a fresh water pipe break at a toilet we were fixing at a rental house.  We at first called one company and had them just extract the water.  With no high powered fans to dry afterwards, it was a waste of our time and money as the carpet was still very wet 24 hours later and starting to wet the surrounding walls and floor boards.  That is when we called disaster care.  Al and his team came out and immediately after giving me an estimate, re-extracted all of the carpets along with putting in high-powered fans to dry it the rest of the way.  I wish I had called them in the first place.  They did an excellent job and we experienced no damage from the accident, thank goodness.  The estimate that they gave me turned out was too low, but Al still honored the price.  I really appreciated their care with our carpets and honoring their estimated price.   Thanks so much Al for a job well done.   </p> <br />"

"Very good to work with from initial contact to final delivery. The price was somewhat higher than expected, but they did more than I expected, including door to door pick up and delivery, and replacement of hardware on an old piece of furniture. <br />"

"The owner, Chris was fantastic!!! After a horrible experience with another cabinet maker, Chris was the total opposite! He showed up on time for our first appointment. He got back to me right away with a price and sketches and all the details. I had priced out what I wanted with other people and he had the best price using the same material. He kept in touch with me during the entire project. He actually finished it early!! Unheard of in Charleston. He did an entire built in of bookshelves and cabinets under my window sills on one side of my wall in the living room. It looks fabulous. I want him now to price up doing something for my kitchen pantry. I highly recommend him. Professional and so nice and well priced!"

"<p>  I really liked working with Bill and will use him again when we remodel our other bathroom.  He protected the flooring from the front door through to the bathroom and walk in closet that he was working in.  Each night he hauled away all trash created from  demolition.  He was communicative throughout the remodel.  His work is EXCELLENT!  I am thrilled with my bathroom and closet.  I show it off to anyone who comes over!</p> <br />"

"Ed Heavy, the owner of the company is in principle a good contractor. His crew I consider pleasant and knowledgable. Overall his work is excellent. Unfortunately, he did some things very wrong. First, he picked some sub-contractors of questionable qualities. The electrician performed only a portion of his duties, the rest was done by him. The painters were a desiaster needing to be recalled three times, the work is still incomplete, and the plumbing was taken over at the end by Ed as well. Upon my complains to him his response was that "this here isn't Kiawah". My trust in this company reached a very low point when I detected that the square footage of the deck was considerable less than he had charged us. Upon his insistence that his calculation was right, I let the engineer who had provided the plans recalculate the area from the original drawing. The deficit amounted to about 70 square feet. Since drawings and actual square foot numbers could deviate I let another contractor measure the deck area independently. The numbers were a little less but still amounted to a relatively large square foot deviation from his numbers. In addition, the work took much longer than planned. Meanwhile Mr. Heavy had taken up another job at Kiawah and the job at our house became secondary. I felt like I acted as the general contractor trying to overlook the work by others. Before we signed the contract, he stated that he would be on site every day. In the beginning this was true but later he was less committed. In the powder room he installed a wainscot with cheap material. The connection from on sheet to the other left a noticeable eyesore . The work should have been completed within three months. It took five months. Based on these facts, I would not consider him for future work."

FAQs for furniture refinish projects in Ridgeville, SC

A complete table refinishing project requires between four and eight days from start to finish. The actual hands-on work takes between two and 10 hours, with the remaining time dedicated to drying periods between applications. The stripping and sanding phases demand the most active labor, while applying finishes requires patience as each layer dries completely before proceeding.

Several elements influence dining table refinishing costs, with size being the primary factor. Larger tables or those with extensions require more materials and labor time. The wood type matters significantly—hardwoods may need specialized treatment compared to softer woods. The table's current condition also impacts pricing, as damaged surfaces need repairs before refinishing can begin.

Refinishing often proves more economical than purchasing a comparable quality replacement. Professional table refinishing costs between $150 and $400 on average, while preserving the original craftsmanship and character of your piece.

This approach makes particular sense for well-constructed wood furniture that would be expensive to replace with similar quality. For sentimental pieces or antiques, refinishing also maintains their history and personal value.

Professional furniture refinishers charge between $40 and $100 per hour for their services. This rate varies based on geographic location, the refinisher's experience level, and the complexity of the project. Some professionals offer project-based pricing rather than hourly rates, especially for standard-sized pieces like coffee tables or end tables. When requesting quotes, ask whether the estimate includes materials or represents labor costs only.

For tables with minor wear, you can sometimes refresh the appearance without complete stripping and sanding. Using gel stains and wipe-on finishes can address surface issues while preserving the existing finish underneath. This approach works best for tables with light cosmetic damage rather than those with deep scratches or damaged finishes. However, proper stripping and sanding remain necessary for comprehensive restoration or significant color changes for professional-quality results.
