"In our move to Foley, the leg was broken off of my pembroke table. He repaired the leg and also some other dings on the table and then refinished it. It looks absolutely beautiful. He did such a good job. When he brought the table back, he also did some other touch up work on other pieces of furniture. He will be repairing my antique corner cabinet in January. <br /> He is very professional as well as being quite personable. The repair and refinishing took longer than I had hoped it would but he kept finding other little places that needed repair before he could do the refinishing work. The charge was exactly as estimated. It looks like a brand new antique table. <br /> I would highly recommend him to anyone. He knows what he is doing and does fantastic work. <br />"

"Outstanding, informative Husband Wife team performed a very professional, quality kitchen cabinet painting job on budget and in reasonable time while willing to commute quite a distance to our project. They showed utmost respect for our time, home, and property; we barely noticed they were there working & their clean up was impeccable. Their estimate and price was appropriate, aligned, & they gladly went above & beyond to creatively add special minor carpentry touches & repair needs that left our cabinetry woodwork way better than they found it. They have warm personalities with exceptional pride in their trade with an honesty, integrity, & great attention to detail. Very highly recommend."

"The last project was a family desk from the early 1900's. It had been in storage for several years. My husband came from a very large family and the desk had been passed around, given all that the desk was in terrible shape. The wood inlay on the top of the desk was missing and cracked, the very middle of the desk was cracked, it had scrapes and even had a child's name carved into it. I had my doubts it could be saved. Tommy worked on it approximately 1 week and it came back in beautiful shape. I am now enjoying my desk and couldn't be happier. <br />"

FAQs for furniture refinish projects in Robertsdale, AL

A complete table refinishing project requires between four and eight days from start to finish. The actual hands-on work takes between two and 10 hours, with the remaining time dedicated to drying periods between applications. The stripping and sanding phases demand the most active labor, while applying finishes requires patience as each layer dries completely before proceeding.

Several elements influence dining table refinishing costs, with size being the primary factor. Larger tables or those with extensions require more materials and labor time. The wood type matters significantly—hardwoods may need specialized treatment compared to softer woods. The table's current condition also impacts pricing, as damaged surfaces need repairs before refinishing can begin.

Refinishing often proves more economical than purchasing a comparable quality replacement. Professional table refinishing costs between $150 and $400 on average, while preserving the original craftsmanship and character of your piece.

This approach makes particular sense for well-constructed wood furniture that would be expensive to replace with similar quality. For sentimental pieces or antiques, refinishing also maintains their history and personal value.

Professional furniture refinishers charge between $40 and $100 per hour for their services. This rate varies based on geographic location, the refinisher's experience level, and the complexity of the project. Some professionals offer project-based pricing rather than hourly rates, especially for standard-sized pieces like coffee tables or end tables. When requesting quotes, ask whether the estimate includes materials or represents labor costs only.

For tables with minor wear, you can sometimes refresh the appearance without complete stripping and sanding. Using gel stains and wipe-on finishes can address surface issues while preserving the existing finish underneath. This approach works best for tables with light cosmetic damage rather than those with deep scratches or damaged finishes. However, proper stripping and sanding remain necessary for comprehensive restoration or significant color changes for professional-quality results.
