"Our garage door opener quit working. We asked HomeAdvisor for some referrals to replace it. We are grateful for Home Advisor ! Precision Garage Overhead Garage Door Service office customer service was great. Responding quickly, they gave us a time frame within which the installer would arrive. We bought our replacement garage door opener ahead of time. The installer called to let us know when he would be here. He was prompt. He certainly did a very good job installing the whole new Genie garage door opener system. The work was done well. the employee was expert at his work. We are grateful ! However, if you need garage door rollers, you may wish to purchase them ahead of time - from another source."

"The tech was quick to diagnose the problems. When we talked about general costs to repair/replace a garage door opener or certain parts, he took certain glee in the huge markup charged for services and parts. Fortunately I didnt need any new parts so I paid only $60 and both doors work well."

"It went extremely well. The technician from Illinois Garage Repair was very professional and did an excellent job in replacing the garage door opener. He even went "beyond the call of duty" by programming all of my remote controls."

"Roof repair and handyman work was great. They showed up on time and were experienced with the work they were hired to do. I live in an older mobile home andI have several other things I'd like done but after several weeks of trying to get quotes and work scheduled I am giving up. I liked the staff members I met, they were friendly and serious about doing a good job. However, I have to assume they lack experience in some areas of interior construction at least on mobile homes."

FAQs for garage door opener repair or adjustment projects in Rockford, WA

Garage door costs range somewhat broadly, depending on the type you choose. However, you’ll also need to factor in labor costs, which vary from state to state and between pros.

A chain driven operator costs between $150 - $250. For a belt driven operator it is usually $160 - $450. A screw-driven operator is between $250-$500.

To keep garage door opener repair costs down, you should check that the whole apparatus is working normally on a regular basis. This means making sure that the tracks of your door are greased and fully operational, and that the door itself is in good condition.

Installing a new garage door opener runs from $250 to $500 at least. If your repair costs are close in cost to that range or if your garage door is 10 to 15 years old, you should probably replace it instead of repair.

However, it’s a better idea to fix your garage door opener if it’s less than eight years old or if repair costs are less than replacing.

Garage door openers usually last between 10 and 15 years. However, several factors contribute to how long your garage door opener can last. If you schedule regular inspections and practice proper care, you can maximize your garage door opener’s lifespan, saving money in the long run. As a general rule, practice the same care for your garage door opener as you would the door itself.

These tell-tale signs indicate your garage door is going bad, including:

  • Not closing or opening at all

  • The door reversing when you try to open and/or close it

  • Inconsistent opening and closing; more noise than usual (grinding, scraping, or banging)

  • Sticking or stalling when you try to open or close it

If you experience one or more of these signs, it’s time to call a professional garage door repair service.
