Small jobs welcome

"John returned my original call promptly.  He came to give an estimate within one day of speaking with me. He repaired all of the brick steps around my home.  He noted areas where the bricks had become uneven and leveled those.   All of the work was completed within 2 weeks, despite our adding a few more items to his original list.  We also had him fix part of our pool where tiles had been falling off.  Each day, he left the site clean and very safe.  He made sure that the mortar matched what was already in place so that the finished work was unnoticeable.  It looked brand new when his team was done.  it's nice to see true craftsmanship these days!

After a few weeks it rained heavily and I notice that the water was pooling on top of the bricks. He told me that the bricks were slanted back towards our house instead of away from our house. He did not tell me that the pooling of water would occur. We had him come out again and he tore it all up. He charged us again to do it the right way which could of been avoided had he told us the ramifications in the first place.

"

MCP Chimney & Masonry installed two stainless steel liners in my chimney - one for my fireplace and one for my furnace.

They also repaired the chimney crown and parged the smoke chamber.

The price was fair and competitive.

Brandon Morris and his team assigned to do the work were amazing.

He reviewed the scope of the job with me before they started to ensure I didn?t have any questions.

Everything proceeded without a hitch.

It was necessary to cut a hole in the exterior brick in order to access one of the flues and when finished his masonry crew matched the brick perfectly. You cannot tell where the brick was cut.

Everything in the work area was protected so when they finished I didn?t even have any dust to clean up.

These guys are one of the best contractors I have ever had do work for me.

"I purchased a roof inspection and tune-up theough Angie’s list. I was contacted quickly to set up the appointment and provided a reminder prior thereto. The technician was Mike G. who called about 10 minutes before arrival. He explained what he would do, then proceeded to inspect the attic and roof, making some repairs to the roof as necessay. When completed, we sat down to review pictures and discuss options. Mike G. explained things clearly but did not pressure us to do anything at this time. When the time comes to repair or replace the roof, we will definitely contact American Home Contractors."

"Painters arrived exactly on time and accomplished all tasks the same day. The manually stripped the deck and applied two coats of stain. They carefully cleaned and then painted the foundation concrete as it had got dirty over the years. They also scraped, caulked and painted a large bump-out window off our living room.

"I had obtained several estimates for the rebuilding of our brick side porch and steps. Mid Atlantic seemed to know more about what was causing our issues with the brick porch and how to fix it correctly. Their customer representative, Alex, was very professional and maintained contact with me during the entire process. He also helped to solve another issue we had with the porch. The top section of the porch was pulling away from the house due to the lower brick walls. His team of contractors were able to reattach it to the house while already on premise, saving me the time and effort to find another contractor to do the work. I felt their charge was appropriate for the size and scope of this project. I would use them again for any major concrete/brick/stone project."

FAQs for brick or stone siding: install or completely replace projects in Rocky Ridge, MD

Brick siding offers numerous advantages, including high durability and resistance to harsh weather conditions, requiring minimal maintenance and lasting for generations. It provides natural insulation, enhancing energy efficiency by regulating indoor temperatures year-round. Brick is fire-resistant, improving home safety, and reduces external noise for a quieter indoor environment. Its timeless aesthetic appeal boosts curb appeal and can increase your home's resale value.

Yes, you can add brick to an existing house. One option is to remove the current siding and install full brick masonry, which involves laying traditional bricks with mortar for a solid brick exterior. Alternatively, you can opt for brick veneer siding, a thinner layer of real or manufactured brick applied over the existing structure. Brick veneer is typically more affordable and easier to install while still providing the aesthetic benefits of brick. Both methods can enhance your home's appearance and value.

Yes, installing brick siding often provides a significant return on investment. With an average ROI of around 77%, and some returns exceeding 80%, brick siding enhances curb appeal, energy efficiency, and longevity, making your home more attractive to potential buyers and potentially increasing resale value.

Brick siding is known for its exceptional longevity, often lasting over 100 years when properly maintained. Regular maintenance, like repointing mortar joints, ensures its durability over time. Brick veneer, while thinner than full brick masonry, is durable and can last up to 50 years or more with proper care. Both options offer long-lasting protection and value for your home.

When choosing brick siding, consider your budget, as costs can vary depending on brick type and installation method. Also, consider your desired aesthetic; different bricks offer various colors, textures, and styles to complement your home's architecture. Installation time and complexity are factors, with options like brick veneer being quicker and less labor-intensive than full brick masonry. Additionally, assess the maintenance requirements and durability to select the best option for your long-term needs.

Alternatives to brick siding include vinyl siding, which is cost-effective and low-maintenance and offers a variety of colors and styles. Wood siding provides a natural, classic look but requires more upkeep to prevent weather damage. Fiber cement siding is durable and can mimic the appearance of wood or masonry without the high maintenance. Each alternative has its own advantages, so consider factors like budget, aesthetics, and maintenance when making your choice.
