"Extremely professional group of people. The communication was excellent and the follow up written report after the inspection was timely. They evaluated the foundation and found that although the slab was tilted, that it was not necessary to correct as there was no indication of structural damage of any kind. Indeed, they noted that the repair recommended by a foundation repair company was not only not necessary, but could have caused damage to the slab. I would recommend using them prior to any foundation repair."

"We are really happy with how thorough our inspection was. Our inspector was a pleasure to work with and very informative. We would definitely use Greenworks again. Definitely recommend selecting one of the packages available on the website. We were able to include the pool, structural engineering report and reinspection in the price. We are also very happy that they offered an Angie's List discount, and it was not a hassle to have it honored."

"We requested a diamond stone paver retaining wall. They were very punctual and professional. They diligently worked, and quickly finished the whole wall (30' long and 3' high). This wall is gorgeous. I would highly recommend this company to anyone that needs stonework done."

"This was just the inspection; leading up to the actual repair after other contractors had been vetted.
Being a contractor myself I was impressed with the professionalism of the engineer that performed the service.  He was thorough in his work, presented the options without bias, and provided a cost to do the job that was within reason.
Today I paid a deposit to have the work done later this month.  Hopefully the same professionalism will be apparent at that time.
More to follow.........

"We were not confident that the extensive backyard pool remodeling project was being executed properly. It was traumatic to hear jackhammers breaking up the decking and piles of soil all over. I was searching on Angie's list for a structural engineer in our zip code area in hopes that s/he would be able to come out to the site as soon as possible. I read through Dr. Movassaghi's expertise and contacted him right away. We had no time to waste as the work was going to continue the next day. Dr. Movassaghi dropped everything and came out to our home two hours later - off hours. His extensive experience was apparent immediately during his assessment of the project. We took his recommendations and changed the scope of the project to include adding reinforced concrete into the plan. He visited the site several times to make sure that the work was being executed appropriately.
When the job was completed, we were confident that the backyard was designed to last. On a side-note, Dr. Movassaghi walked into this difficult situation but was able to not only assure us, step by step, that the project was going well but also was able to work seamlessly with the contractors already on the job site. He is an expert and professional and we are very grateful for his help on this project.

"We own 2 properties in Wylie which both sustained a massive amount of damage in the April hail storm. I originally worked with a roofing contractor who said he could support us with all repairs only to learn later that he wanted us to fight our insurance company to add O&P so they could increase their profits. I understand why the request but I was in a huge battle already with just trying to get enough money to pay for the damage. After several weeks of stress and tears, I realized that I needed to hire a contractor who could honestly handle a large loss project. I reached out to a few contacts and somehow magically found Robert Jordan. Upon our first conversation, I was instantly impressed with Robert's professionalism. He suggested I not agree to work with him until I researched his company thoroughly and invited me to read all reviews online possible. He also directed me to view photos online of his work and then agreed to meet with me in a couple of days. I continued to be impressed during our meeting and decided quickly to partner with Robert. As a reminder, we own 2 properties, 1 in which my mother lives. Because her home was almost completely destroyed, she was relocated to a THIRD floor apartment. Robert knew this and began work promptly to get her back home and comfortable. He walked me through the processes of insurance claims, he maintained close communication with me, and he explained how and when repairs would take place. Honestly, before Robert was in the picture, I was an hysterical mess... he changed everything!!!! Now, to the actual work performed. Robert assigned us a project manager who we really enjoyed working with. He was professional and experienced, and we were thrilled at how quickly he was getting things started. Unfortunately, the project manager had to leave the job for personal reasons; however, Robert quickly had a new project manager assigned and never skipped a beat. We were concerned because we really liked the original project manager.. but WOW... James the new PM was incredible. Professional, friendly, punctual and had an eye for details. When I would want something changed, James NEVER made me feel like a burden and always wanted to ensure we were happy. Which we were!!!!! I just can't say enough about Robert and James. I honestly pray that someone who is in a horrible situation that feels hopeless sees this review and knows that they have options. Robert CAN and WILL help you!"

FAQs for engineer structural projects in Rosston, TX

To determine if a wall is load-bearing, start by checking your home’s original plans or asking a structural engineer. Exterior walls always carry weight, but interior ones only do if they sit over a beam or run perpendicular to floor joists. If a wall lines up with posts in the basement or falls directly under the roof ridge, assume it’s load-bearing and call a professional before attempting to remove it with a sledgehammer.

Calculating the wall load and sizing the beam must be performed by experts to ensure structural safety. You need a structural engineer to evaluate all load aspects and determine the proper beam dimensions. A professional engineer performs precise calculations and advises on any necessary enhancements, such as larger footings for support. An inspector then verifies that the revised structure meets all safety and code regulations before the finishing work begins.

Hiring a structural engineer is essential for ensuring your home remains structurally sound during any major renovation. Their responsibility is to deliver expert assessments and design recommendations for load-bearing modifications. The average cost to hire a structural engineer is $500, with rates ranging from $350 to $800. Consulting a licensed, experienced engineer guarantees that every structural project, whether constructing a new home or remodeling an existing one, is completed safely and efficiently.

Almost all load-bearing wall removals require a permit as they support everything above it, and building departments want proof that the new beam can handle the weight. Pulling a permit triggers plan review and inspections that confirm the work meets local code and safety standards. Skipping this step can lead to fines or being forced to rebuild later, so have your contractor pull the permit before work starts.

Removing a load-bearing wall to create an entrance for a carport or covered patio is a task that comes with defined cost implications. This modification requires extra structural adjustments to ensure safety and proper integration with the adjoining space. When you convert a wall into an entryway, you can expect to pay between $3,200 and $9,500, with an average cost of $6,400. The additional work required for this conversion reinforces the home’s integrity and ensures compliance with applicable building codes.
