"Horatio and his team took my "sump pump turns on every minute, don't know where all this water is coming from" issue to their heart which is heartwarming to experience. They diagnosed the problem by spending like 4 hours at my place and when we could not figure out the exact cause, they did help narrow it down to being either a broken intake pipe or high water table. They also put a temporary reroute for ground water to rule out any issues with the sewer line which is the case sometimes. They replaced one of my broken sump pump too for a reasonable price."
Pipe was completely packed! Drain cleaning was not going to do the job here!
Master Bath - Chicago
Geberit wall mounted toilet carrier installed. Wall mounted faucet installed. Hall Bath.
You can see the crud inside the pipe accumulated over 60+ years!
Old Broken Clay pipe just outside the foundation wall.

"I thought it went well but took longer than I expected. Mechanic Leo bought the new tank and pipes in when he arrived. I believed Leo arrived around 7:30 pm. He completed the installation around 11:30.pm Leo went out to his truck, stayed outside for a long time, in fact, my son Vann went out to ask him what was taking so long. When he came back in, Leo told me there would be an extra $100.00 We explained that we had been quoted a price of $1,300.00.. so he said to call the i office and they would straighten everything out, That’s why I called the next day. Everything seemed okay. When I notice the water was much slower, I called to let J&S know. The person asked me a few questions and advised me to check the faucets. Well, that didn’t work and the water was not as hot as before the installation. I called again to explain to J & S what was happening. The person there told me that they didn’t have to come out, and I still owed them $100.. so that's why I called Angi So I decided to check all of the faucets and I realized that the water flow was not coming out properly from any of the faucets So this is what happened. I am just appalled that they haven’t come out or called as of this date. I need them to come out and check this out, something went wrong. We could do a FaceTime inspection that would show the flow of the water."

"The name Aqua Doctor is very fitting for Chris and his team, because it sounds like a super hero and that is definitely what they are! After a brutal week of cold a few weeks ago I went to turn on a faucet to have water shooting out from the pipe. Thankfully I knew where the shut off valve was, and searched Angies List to find a reputable contractor for what I hoped would be a simple repair. The repair wasn’t simple, which made having a true professional like Chris even more important. Not only had one of the pipes under the sink blown out, but Chris and his thorough inspection showed me a pipe behind the wall in the shower was also leaking. Had I tried to fix the pipe myself or hired some novice I doubt that would have been found, which have resulted in leaking in my walls and under the floor for who knows how long before it was found. There unfortunately a good amount of damage, and Chris and his team helped in so many ways but I will just name a few. First, they did work beyond what a typical plumber would do. His crew came in and pulled out tile and opened the walls to get to the leaking pipes. More about that in a bit, but another critical piece was he helped me navigate the confusing and tricky area of dealing with your insurance company. He did what my insurance company didnt seem able to do, which is example to me in simple terms how the process works, and he spoke directly with the company probably 6 or 7 times as the project was moving forward on what needed to be done and why to help get every possible dollar of his bill covered. As the project was moving along and the team had to walls to do the repairs, we learned this part of the home was not built to code. We had plumbing on an outside wall without an insulated wall in between. This meant the proper way to repair it was to move the water lines for the shower, toilet and sink by jackhammering into the concrete foundation. It’s a miracle I didnt pass out when I learned that, but once again Chris took the time to explain to me in simple terms what had to be done, to show me, explain why, and then get not he phone with the insurance agency to get it covered. He even facilitated working with the village inspector to make use all the documentation needed to prove this was required by the village was in place. This along would have been $4,400 out of my pocket if Chris hadn’t been thorough and diligent to working with the insurance. Other contacts would hand me a bill and let me figure it out, but Chris helped me the entire way. His team worked hard and fast to get everything in sorted out quickly, and Chris even connected me with another familiar member who offered to do the additional repairs like drywalling, paint, etc. Chris and his team turned what could have been an absolute nightmare into a relatively painless process and really worked hard to minimize my out of pocket spend. And when the project was over and I tried to tip him for going way above and beyond me didn’t even want to accept the cash so I gave it to his workers. I just cant say enough for Chris and his hard work and work ethic. And if this wasn’t enough to convince you to use Aqua Doctor I will leave you with one more meaningful example. When the village came out to look at what had to be done to comply with code, I could see the relief on the face of the village inspector that I was using Aqua Plumbing because they knew the job would be done right."

"I had a sewer backup in the basement, and I had 2 plumbers came to snake out the sewer drain. The first plumber spent an hour and cut out some roots in the sewer lateral and finally gave up, saying that he had 3 other jobs to do and he had no time to continue snaking out the sewer line. He left me with no choice but to search for another plumber after office hours. I had to pay emergency service rates for the 2nd plumber, he managed to cut out some more roots after spending 2.5 hrs and eventually his snake got kinked. The sewer was draining at this time. He returned 2 days later and spent another 3.5 hrs cutting the roots. Eventually he could not get any further towards the end of the sewer lateral. I could sense that he had given up. He tried to snake his camera through but could not get pass the house trap for whatever reason. He was afraid that his camera would get caught up in the sewer house trap - he mentioned that he once did get his camera caught in the sewer in another job. After spending about $1200, the sewer was still clogged but draining better than it used to be. He even recommended digging out the house trap in the basement and then excavating the exterior sewer lateral! I found these 2 plumbers on Angie's List with great reviews.
I had no choice but tried other Angie's List service providers. For some plumbers that I called, I had to leave voice messages. Some returned calls later, much later, while others never return my calls at all. There were 2 other plumbers who picked up my call immediately, did not want to take the job when they heard about the house trap - they were afraid that their equipment
would get caught in the house trap! Yes, these plumbers were Angie's List members with great reviews!
When I called "Enoco Sewer & Drain", Charlie, the owner, picked up the phone shortly and he was willing to help out even when I mentioned about the house trap and bad roots intrusion. I did not know he was out in Kenosha while I was in Wauwatosa. It was a good 45 mins travel time for them and he was willing to reduce the travel cost from the initial $100 to $75. He gave me a worst case situation total cost ($750) of using the hydro-jet with televised inspection plus travel time. I was skeptical about using hydro-jet, wasn't sure how effective it would be. Other companies using hydro-jet would charge more than this amount.
When Charlie and Pete arrived, they put down a tarp and then their equipment. Pete managed to snake the camera through the house trap. There were lots of roots in the sewer lateral. The first two plumber had already cut out lots of roots earlier. Pete went ahead to use hydro-jet to cut the roots. Pete was really skillful in maneuvering the camera and hydro-jet and painstakingly removed the stubborn roots. He worked relentlessly on cutting the roots. There were 3 spots that he could not remove and in
the end he had to use the power rodding equipment with a 6 inch cutter and finally managed to cut the 3 stubborn spots. In the entire process, he used the camera to help guide and cut the roots. Some companies would charge extra like $250 for using the camera. The power rodding equipment was heavy duty with a 6 inch cutter, the other plumbers used a smaller scale 3" cutter. It really did make a difference. They even cleaned the sewer under the basement up to the bottom of the main stack. Now I could see from the camera that the sewer pipes were completely free and clear of roots. They also cleaned up the areas. I thought this would take 3-4 hrs but eventually it took about 6 hours. They came at 2.30 pm and left at 8.30 pm. They never gave up when they found the roots to be tough to clear; they changed their plan of attack whenever they encountered obstacles like changing the nozzle heads, going back to power rodding to clear the last bit of roots. They never quit in the middle of the job unlike the first plumber. They stayed on and finished what they came out to do!!! They are the professionals!
They even made a DVD recording for me to keep. From the DVD playback, I could estimate how long the sewer lateral was, and how much RootX I would need to treat the pipes, where the pipe joints/cracks were etc. I thought this was useful. I was initially skeptical about hydro-jet, but having seen from the televised camera, I am now sold on this newer technology, it did work well.
They were also high tech - using tablet to prepare/send invoice, mobile phone payment, and a hard-case notebook. I would have called them earlier instead of wasting the $1200 on the first two plumbers. You never know what you will get even when you used Angie's List. Total spent = $750 (hyrdo-jet with camera)+ $100 (for power rodding) = $850. I used Angie's List a lot to search for Service Providers, it's always a hit and miss even for Service Providers with great reviews. I would never hesitate to use Econo Serwer and Drain again and again when I have sewer problems. This is my second Angie's List reviews that I had ever written and I was so appreciative of the work that Charlie and Pete did.

"We used Joel from Illinois Sewer and Drain. Joel called me immediately after I filled out the online form and was out to my house in 2 hours. In 2 days I had his estimate, which was fair and of great value. When I told him we were going to hire him he scheduled us for the next day. Six guys were here all day and the job was done in a day and a quarter. Joel was professional, classy, friendly, fair and kind. So were the men who work for him. We were very impressed. My husband asked Joel to look at our sump pumps and a silcock that was dripping. The next day he was out and replaced 2 of our 3 sump pumps, (which were not working at all) and some piping and fixed the silcock. So, two days after he replaced our entire septic tank we had him out to replace two of our three sump pumps! So yes ! We would use him again! We are thrilled with his work and his knowledge and professionalism and will use him again for sure. We are so grateful that we found him. We called for estimates from three companies and one came out and was charging a hefty price to do and exploratory evaluation. One never called me back and he was the one we chose, He so prompt and so professional and so fair. So thankful that we found him."

"Whenever there was a heavy rain, flood water would come through the cracks in the "cove" where the basement wall meets the floor near the basement door leading to the exterior stair walkout. Lincoln correctly diagnosed the problem as a broken p-trap. Douglas came with one other person on time, efficiently broke through the cement landing and put in a new clay piece with a 2 foot extension. He showed me the old clay rain drain that they had removed, and it was collapsed and completely plugged up rocky clay, so it was no longer draining out to the catch basin. The house is 100 years old, and the pipe was no doubt original. They smoothly re-laid the cement at a pitch so that the water flowed toward the drain, and cleaned up afterward. No muss, no fuss; they were done in no time. They even rodded out to the street at no extra charge. The problem was fixed, and there has been no more basement flooding near the basement door! Yeah!
Lincoln had been recommended to me by a neighbor. I got quotes from three sewer contractors, and Lincoln's was actually the lowest. One of the companies I spoke to was not even interested in investigating the rain drain, but only wanted to sell me an interior drain system with a sump pump for $6,000. Problem was that the interior drains are no longer allowed in Oak Park. Well, we are happy that we got the problem fixed by honest, competent people. It was a pleasure doing business with them and I would recommend their sewer service in a heartbeat.

FAQs for water main install, replace or repair projects in Russell, IL

If you notice puddles or standing water in your yard, a sudden drop in water pressure, cracks forming in your foundation, frequent clogs in your plumbing fixtures, or water that looks or smells unusual, you might have a leak in your main water line. These signs mean it's time to call a professional to evaluate the issue and prevent further damage.

A professional water main inspection is a comprehensive evaluation performed by a licensed plumber who checks every section of your plumbing system. The inspection costs $165 and uses advanced diagnostic techniques to identify hidden leaks or wear. This service clarifies the exact condition of your water main, enabling precise repairs that prevent future damage and ensure the overall health of your plumbing system.

Protect your water main by scheduling a cleaning and inspection every two to five years. The average cost of a sewer line cleaning is $400. It’s also important to never dig in your yard without first calling the dig line (811) to ensure you don't accidentally hit the water or sewer lines. Watch for soil erosion, low water pressure, or wet spots in your yard, and take immediate action if you suspect a leak. Remember, the longer you leave it, the worse the problem gets and the more costly it is to fix.

When properly maintained, your water main is engineered to remain functional for 50 years or longer. A durable water service in excellent condition should consistently perform without major issues for half a century. In contrast, metal pipes exposed to acidic soil corrode faster, whereas modern plastic pipes resist corrosion and function for decades beyond metal alternatives. Regular maintenance and inspections are essential for confirming your system’s longevity.

No, homeowners insurance does not cover the cost to repair a water main. Insurers fund only sudden, unforeseen events like a burst pipe and exclude gradual issues or normal wear and tear. Damage resulting from leaks, such as mold remediation or property claims, is not covered. It is essential to contact your insurance provider immediately to confirm your policy’s details and any potential adjustments needed.
