For some reason my husband gets respiratory symptoms every time he showers, regardless of which bathroom. Sneezing, stuffy nose, allergic type reaction. If he takes allergy meds before showering it’s slightly better. We have new shower heads, when I installed the one upstairs I even cleaned it out for any mold in the pipe. The first time he used it, it was better, but then right back to it. This only happens in our house- when traveling & using a shower anywhere else, this doesn’t happen. I’ve also noticed we get orange colored residue in the upstairs bathroom easily (I believe a type of mold), & drain flies in the downstairs bathroom sink easily. We also do have an indoor gas tankless water heater we upgraded to a couple of years ago. We drink bottled water, as he can’t stand the taste, except if it’s boiled in the kettle. My house is brick from the 1930’s, though the upstairs is a new construction addition.
