"I was having some issues with water coming into the basement through the foundation and walls during rainy weather. Not flooding, or even shop vac-able volumes, just enough to be annoying and require mopping. Dominic and his crew were here today to install an under-floor drainage system and a new sump pump. I was dreading the demo (I have a concrete floor) and the mess involved, but these guys came prepared for everything! They used dust abatement measures to protect all my basement-stored items, and they removed and hauled all the debris away when finished with the excavation. "My husband and I came across 7th State Builders online. Eddie came out to our home for our initial consultation. He was punctual and professional. He listened to our vision and took the time to draw out a plan and explain the process. He was very knowledgeable and made some great suggestions. We decided to do a big project at our home. For the back: a rebuild and waterproofing of our previous deck and a large patio to go underneath it with a fire pit and sitting wall. "After almost a year of moving into our new home, we experienced our worst nightmare. Our not one but two basement levels had visible signs of water penetration from the previous homeowner's negligence. A record year of rainfall along with improper grading of the home helped unmask many issues to the surface we never thought about when we first bought the home. It was a very hopeless feeling to experience and go through. My husband and I did our due diligence on waterproofing and foundation repair and interviewed about 20 contractors who specialize in this field. Upon meeting Mr. Steven Starkey from S&S Waterproofing and Foundation Repair, we knew we found the right guy to correctly fix the water problems at our home. Mr. Starkey was always very prompt with the many questions we had for him and always had the right answer back for us, which made us feel very comfortable hiring him and clearly separated himself from the rest of his competition. In the end, Mr. Starkey and his crew performed a complex hand digging excavation around 3/4 of the outside of our home. This included jackhammering and repairing in the carport area of our home as well. They did this during the hottest time of the year, the end of June - mid August. Mr. Starkey's crew was very professional and hardworking; they always came on time, never took shortcuts in the six weeks from start to finish on the project. His foreman running the project, Sturado was very knowledgable and closely monitored the job. It made us feel very comfortable having him there overseeing the job along with Mr. Starkey who usually came by everyday as well to check on things. Mr. Starkey's crew of six hand dug everything on the outside, which was quite complex because of the two different level basements. They properly sealed the outside cracks and removed most of the marine clay which was creating pressure on our home. His team relocated the sump pump inside our home to a better strategic area and also made another outside sump pump to collect the water around our home and carry it away. It has been about a half year past the project completion and we had not had any signs of water penetration inside our home, even with quite a bit of rainfall afterwards. "The work they did was OK, if we had a small basement issue.  Unfortunately, we had a large issue.
However, there was really only one person doing 90% of the work.  The work he completed was satisfactory.  As for the other guys on the crew, they were either doing "go for" work or no work at all.  The one guy doing no work was supposedly doing "mold remediation."  He was just taking a sponge and wiping a wall.
The owner was knowledgeable, but not really hands on.  He would check on the work that the one guy did.
As I mentioned before, they didn't complete the job upon my request.

Our front steps were unevenly spaced with an almost 10" drop to the first step.  Mr. Langhorne explained how they would bring the steps into code and keep them from separating from the porch again.  His sons arrived on time and completed the job in one day as promised.  Something that was not planned for, but turned out to be unavoidable was the fact that the railing needed to be removed, as the angle was now wrong.  Not to worry a call was made to a guy who could assist with the iron work to replace the hand rail.

Caution tape was posted around the steps so no one would walk in wet concrete.  They not only cleaned up our yard but also replaced the grass divots removed before the steps were poured.  We are very satisfied with the work and will definitely use Langhorne Concrete services in the future.

"Marks-Woods Construction just finished a multi-part project on our home including a full kitchen remodel, adding a full bath and storage area to our basement, a mudroom addition and a portico. The design process at the beginning helped to expand on our initial ideas and Danielle was great at offering suggestions that we never would have thought of. This step saved us time and helped us avoid regrets we would have had without having Danielle's expertise. Greg did a nice job working though the architectural details and permitting. Our project manager was Drew and he was great to work with throughout the entire process. We had an issue with our backslash and he worked with the supplier to replace it with something more in line with our expectations. Despite a variety of projects, we had a consistent crew with dependable, courteous workers who always created a great end product and kept work areas clean. We wouldn't hesitate to use them again for future renovations."

"The price was great, but the workmanship was not all that good. This company seems to specialize in chimney work, and they are probably OK for that because you can't really see most chimneys up close so sloppy mortar joints aren't really visible.  Patching a large hole in existing brick is a bit of an art, though, and their mason did not really have the skills to do this properly.
The man who did the estimate was thorough and helpful, and although he was late, he called to let me know.  He promised to email me a written quote in a couple of days.  When the quote did not arrive, I tried emailing him and got no answer. After several days of this, I called the company and was told that their computer was down, but that Oscar (the owner) would come by my houses the next day and bring the written quote.
Oscar arrived as promised, and said he was able to do the work that same day, so I let him. He and one other mason completed the tasks.
He reset some loose stones in a flagstone sidewalk and filled in missing mortar. That work looked OK, though not great, as the mortar didn't really match the existing. The flagstones were irregular in shape, so the mortar joints didn't have to be perfect. I also had him brick in a hole that was left when we removed a heat/air conditioning unit that was built into the wall when a room was added onto the house.  While the color of the brick was a good match, the bricks were not laid exactly straight, and the mortar joints were not tooled to match the surrounding joints, so the patch looks sloppy. There was also a lot of excess mortar on the bricks, which left a white haze.
I complained to Oscar that I was not happy with the brick work. He agreed to come out and clean the bricks, which he did, but he would not do anything about the crooked bricks.

1.  He knew exactly what I needed and wanted done when I first spoke to him.  This entailed the replacement, repair, and installation of the items listed above with attention to quality in materials, prevention of future problems, a fair price, and a commitment to starting and showing up once the job was initiated.  Danny exceeded every expectation in these regards!
2.  I silently knew in advance manufacturers, quality and cost of exterior doors (including the french door), storm doors, door locks and deadbolts, leak-proof door sills for 6 inch exterior walls and a leak-proof barrier on the bottom of the door frames.  Without knowing of my preferences, Danny suggested the identical manufacturers and materials I had in mind.  At this juncture, we met and I hired Danny to perform the work.
3.  I am beyond pleased with the outcome of Danny's effort on this project.  As an example of his integrity, he asked me to trust him in the design and installation of an exterior octagonal window in a bathroom.  My wife and I were literally blown away with a handcrafted symmetrical waterproof tunnel and inside wall frame he created - more akin to an artistic piece than a window.
4. Inside work was always minimally invasive using tarps and soft shoes rather than work boots.  Outside and inside cleanup at the end of each work day was respectfully performed leaving no mess.
I would recommend Danny to anyone requiring any kind of interior or exterior installation, modification, or repair as I have seen firsthand examples of his experience, skills, and personal and business ethics.  In fact, Danny is presently working on costs to replace our roof."
