"Cory Guerra came and inspected my home. Unfortunately due to my financial situation I am unable to move forward currently. I recommend giving foundation recovery systems a call. Cory did excellent at explaining what is going on with my basement."

"I phoned J & J on 3/24/15 and we discussed my situation. He asked if I'd like the same day afternoon appointment or a morning appointment the following day. I chose the following day. On 3/25/15 he arrived promptly at 8 am and assessed the sink by diagnosing where the leak was, removing the parts associated with said leak and realized there was a seal missing when it was originally installed. The whole apparatus was corroded as well from years of water running through it. He was able to clean off all corrosion to see that I did not need to purchase a whole new attachment, all I needed was a seal. He left to the store to grab a seal, came back and it was all installed and fixed by 9 am. My sink looks better than new and works great. He was friendly, courteous, prompt, knowledgable and worked quickly. I have saved J & J Plumbing as my favorites on Angies List as we will use them again! <br />"

"The Rogers Water Department had been checking street valves and water usage in our neighborhood out at the lake. The water department tech notified me that I had a potential water leak. With the Tech present I shut off the main valve in the basement and the tech could still detected an audible leak with his acoustic equipment. An internet search lead me to "Cox Plumbing and Leak Detection". I didn't want someone to just find the leak, I needed someone who could troubleshoot the system from the street meter to determine if I really did have a leak and then if there was a leak to find and fix it. When I first called Cox Plumbing, Mindy answered the phone. I thought she was just an answering service(sorry for the profiling Mindy), but she knows her plumbing! As I described what had transpired with the water department tech she immediately told me that my basement shut-off valve type is a notorious leaker and just because I closed the house valve and the Tech could still hear water running in the system did not necessarily mean there was a leak between the meter and the house. She told me to fix all of my internal leaks and then recheck the meter. Three of four toilets were leaking and after putting in new toilet kits, the street meter showed "Zero" flow. Bingo !!!! Mindy saved me from digging up a concrete retaining wall and driveway to replace the flowline from the meter to the house. Once I fixed the leaks in the house however, my pipes began to rattle randomly whenever the water was NOT flowing. Checking the pressure in the house revealed that it was the same as the delivery pressure at the street(approx 110psi). A check of the pressure relief valve showed that no matter what setting I chose, the pressure would bleed back up to 110psi and the pipes would start rattling randomly again. The relief valve was bad and the cause of the transient vibrations. Another call to Mindy and an exchange of text messages with photos of the basement valve and piping arrangement lead to a quick estimate and appointment to change out the pressure reducer and add a new shutoff valve. The replacement was quick and clean. Mindy and Malcolm were very professional and explained everything(acoustics and leak detection) to my satisfaction. I could not recommend them more highly. The diagnostics and elimination of the possibility of an underground leak between the meter and the house which would have caused me to excavate into a concrete retaining wall and elevated driveway was priceless !!!!!"

"We bought an older home and had toilet backup issues just a few weeks after moving in. I called 3 "A" rated plumbers on Angie's List. Jack was very reasonably priced when compared to the other two I contacted (one of those companies wanted $370/hr on the weekend). Jack spent a 1/2 day trying to clear obstructions from the downstairs toilet -- he pulled out cotton shop towels, masking tape and other items likely left by remodelers hired by the previous owner. He also pulled tree roots out which was a bad sign. Unable to clear the blockage, he brought a crew back on Monday to trace the line using an electronic device. Since the line didn't have cleanouts, it's wasn't apparent how the line went from the house to the street. Jack brought an excavator and proceeded to take out the old line (which was packed full) and clear blockages both to the house and from the curb to the street. He installed new PVC pipe with 3 cleanouts. I'm thankful that we were able to connect to existing pipe and didn't have to tear up the new patio. Jack and his crew are a hard workers - spending 11+ hours on this job. He had given me a quote prior to doing the work and actually gave a significant discount since he didn't have to dig as deep as originally thought (4 ft. vs. 7 ft). I would trust him to do any work I have in the future and he will be the first one I call."

"I had several leaks in the water line between the meter and the house - built in 1986. After several estimates, we contracted 1st Plumbing Services to perform the line replacement. They came on time, performed the work quickly, cleaned up, and got paid. The track-hoe operator was a real artist - very skilled. In spite of rocks and roots, they worked quickly and left the yard in presentable condition. Cost was considerably below other estimates."

"Ed from Northstar called and asked about the issue and determined that a replacement drain might be needed and made sure he had the right one before he arrived.  Good thing, the drain was broken and had to be replaced and Ed had the right one in the right color (the ring around the inside of the sink is visible and needed to be bronze).  The fix took less than an hour and has been perfect.  Ed also checked the second sink in the same bathroom to make sure everything looked good there."

FAQs for basement drainage channels installation projects in Saint-paul, AR

Expect a well-built French drain to last 30 to 40 years. By channeling both surface- and ground-water away from your foundation, the system relieves hydrostatic pressure and helps prevent costly structural damage. Choose a pipe with a quality cloth filter to keep sediment out and extend the drain’s life. A quick annual inspection and routine cleanouts will keep water flowing freely, ensuring the system continues to protect your home for years to come.

Most French drains sit two feet below grade, but depth ultimately depends on the problem you’re solving. For puddling rainwater or snowmelt, a shallow curtain drain at lawn level often does the trick. To handle rising groundwater, pros dig deeper, down to the footing, and run the pipe beneath the basement slab. A drainage contractor will determine the optimal depth for your specific soil conditions and water issues.

A properly installed interior French drain captures water at the slab, channels it to a sump pit, and directs it safely outside, preventing basement floods before they occur. Because the pipe sits just under the floor edge, a plumber can reach it easily for cleaning or repairs. Pairing the drain with a reliable sump pump gives you the best long-term protection.

Hire a contractor who installs drainage systems every day—typically a foundation specialist, drainage contractor, experienced landscaper, or plumber with waterproofing experience. These pros understand slope, soil, and local codes, and they have the equipment to trench safely around utilities. Ask for references and photos of recent jobs to be sure they can design a system that keeps water off your foundation for decades.

Once the drain is in, patch the yard by reseeding bare spots or replacing plants the crew removed. Inside, look for ways to add value—finishing the basement or upgrading interior waterproofing while the space is open often costs less now than later. Schedule a quick annual checkup to flush sediment and confirm the pipe and sump pump are clear. Consistent maintenance ensures the drain functions properly and protects your investment.

Most policies don’t cover the cost of repairing a French drain itself, but they may provide coverage for water damage if the system fails. Coverage varies by insurer, so be sure to read the fine print or contact your agent before any issues arise. If you live in a high-risk flood zone, consider a separate flood policy to close the gap. Knowing your coverage in advance helps you budget for repairs and avoid unexpected costs.
