I called Manwill Plumbing and was lucky enough to get a technician to come around to look at it on a Sunday for a $50, plus the diagnostic fee. He found the problem quickly - I needed a replacement blower motor and wheel. He explained the issue thoroughly along with what the fix would entail. Then he broke the bad news - they didn't have parts on hand and would have to order them. He apologized and promised Manwill would get them in as quickly as possible and he'd come back to install asap. "I called Ryan because my 15 year old furnace was not functioning. The heat exchangers had pinholes and the secondary exchanger was completely rusted out and clogged. Ryan did his absolute best to come up with the best solution for the least amount of cost to me. In the end the resolution ended up being a new furnace unit. This gentleman is transparent and honest. He took the time to explain to me why I needed a new furnace. He had the opportunity to cobble my old one together and charge me for labor, but his integrity shined through and he let me know it's not safe, and he's not comfortable doing that. I also took the opportunity to have him install a 4" filter box to prevent future system issues due to the awful 1" filter location. I will 100% call Ryan again in the future. "When he arrived, I told him I had changed the filter, sprayed off the outside unit, and checked the vents. All things I found online to check before calling for service. He proceeded to tell me to try those things again and was getting ready to go. I asked if there wasn't anyway he could check anything else. He reluctantly put a camera inside the furnace and showed me that the coils needed to be cleaned. Finally, the real reason for the coils freezing. If I had let him leave, I would have been without air conditioning for another couple of days. Why didn't he want to check that to begin with?
