"I had Pedro and his team to do concrete for my backyard, side walkways, front courtyard which are added up about 3500 sf. Backyard is dirt yard, side walkway and courtyard had existing cracked concrete which require demolition. The side yard next to the garage is wide enough so we constructed it to be an extra car park! After negotiation for my limited budget Pedro gave me some discount and we came up with agreement on the contract. Pedro scheduled a time and estimated of 8 to10 working days to finish the project. The Xtreme concrete crews are fantastic - they were at my house everyday at 8:0am and worked tirelessly until 5:00pm or 6:00pm. Actually the project was extended with extra work as demolition was completed we discovered that our courtyard walls were baseless and not well secure which expose a safety concern. Pedro and his project manager Oscar raised the concern and discussed with me of the problem and they came up with the fix using add on 4zx4 press- treated posts. When the project was going on I also realized that there was good opportunity for me to add in the drainage system, they agreed and charged me with a reasonable price for both add on in the last minutes. I was amazed how fast they completed my project in just 8 days, 2 days ahead of schedule including two last minutes add on! Pedro was very clear communication with me from the beginning till the end. The Xtreme concrete management is thoughtful, respectful, organized and well scheduled. I always have the feeling that they are trustful, friendly and listen to customer's need. They actually ran extra miles for me, I would absolutely use them again. While I did get "cheaper" quotes from other parties, I had a great feeling speaking with Pedro and trusted my gut that this is the premier company. "Most construction is straightforward. Contractors go by the building code, which they all know very well — better than the city, in fact. Tiger/Shelby did a great job. We have no complaints with their work. <br /> But the city of Santa Clara is another story. We applied for permits in January, and they were finally issued <em>this month — October!</em> But the city building department is still making us jump through flaming hoops. They are <em>never</em> satisfied, and they routinely change their arbitrary rules. <br /> We got stuck with a new employee/bureaucrat: Suzanne Park. She is absent more often than she is at work, but no one takes her place. She has already learned that she is completely unaccountable. <br /> Suzanne will not ever make a commitment, but rather, she seems to want to reserve the right to cause us further delays at her whim. It depends on her mood, and she contradicts herself at times. <br /> She has often been wrong in the past, and that has cost us time and money as a result. But Suzanne is totally unaccountable, and she knows it. <br /> Apparently these bureaucrats have no superior, at least that we have been able to determine. No one takes her place when she is absent. She seems to take pleasure in causing us repeated, unnecessary delays. <br /> We are simply adding a bedroom, but due to the city’s bureaucracy our costs and completion time are far more than we originally planned. <br /> So to wrap up: Shelby and Tiger Construction is fine. They are very conscientious and they do very good work. But my advice is to move to another city before building an addition — unless you7're with the 49ers. Then it's all smooth sailing. <br /> <br />"

"From start to finish the experience was great. I was so happy with them that I did not do a price comparison. I feel I got my money's worth! I had an area that was just dirt where the patio should have been. When I bought my home, there was a rotty old deck covering this bare patch. I tried using flag stones and vegetation but it never really worked...so I finally called the cement guys to patch it up. <br /> First they gave me a rough estimate over the phone, which helped tremendously, to get a feel for what I would be looking at. Then Ignacio came out and inspected the area and gave me a formal proposal. I liked him immediately and felt confident to move forward. In my previous home I'd had extensive concrete done and knew enough to recognize a quality team. <br /> Sure enough, they came promptly the next day, worked all day and finished and cleaned up with no sign of their having been there. I really liked that they dug down deep, included rebar, and hand tinted the concrete for the final finish. It was exactly what I asked for, a smooth tinted finish. <br />  I still need to arrange the plants a bit, but Ignacio even volunteered to have a guy come back and help me! I am so impressed by their employees, who were courteous and very professional. The work is great. They did a really fine job trying to match a motley colored tile that covers the rest of the patio. I couldn't be happier and have already recommended them to a friend. <br />"

"I didn't know where to start to get this thing removed - have not used it for years and will never ever burn another fire in our fireplace! Searched under "chimney" and e/mailed several contractors on Sept 4 got a response from Linda  @ Mr. Chimney  later that day saying that fireplace insert removal  is something they do frequently. (Some contractors won't deal with insert removals - they're extremely heavy, bolted into the firebox, etc). On Sept 8 the owner was here to give us an estimate and detailed explanation of what they needed to do. Then on Sept 12 the crew of two was here to remove the insert and  the long chimney duct (part of the insert), clean the chimney and measure for new damper. By Sept 15 (that was fast!)  the damper was ready, so I set up appt for Sept 19;  Adrian came out again on Sept 19, mortared the new damper and bricks into place, and thoroughly cleaned the inside of the firebox to remove all of the old soot (that's a really messy, nasty job - lots of particulate matter in soot). I wanted the box clean so we could PAINT the interior of the firebox and use this new space to display art books, dried arrangements, (I haven't decided on a decorative feature just yet).  Adrian did a very thorough, careful, and mess-free job for us. The other 2 guys were very careful with getting the incredibly heavy insert removed and out of the room safely also. Everyone we dealt with at Mr. Chimney was great! What I thought was going to be a big bad job went much more quickly than I expected, and was I glad to pay $1400 to get ride of the insert - it was very much worth it!  Thank you MR.
