"We are extremely happy with Precision Garage Doors’ work to repair our double-wide garage door. The door was installed 10 years ago by Precision. It had gotten off its tracks and was stuck open the evening before we were leaving on vacation. My call was answered by a polite human (!) who managed to schedule us early the following morning. The technicians arrived on schedule, explained what was needed clearly, replaced worn parts, and had the door sorted out quickly and professionally. Also fantastic was that the door was under their lifetime warrantee, so the cost for the repair was minimal. We highly recommend Precision Garage Doors Tigard."

"We had Andrew from Portland Locksmith & Garage Doors come rekey and replace some locks on a new property we purchased in February. They were extremely communicative and so easy to work with. About a month later we were having issues with one of the locks replaced on a slider and they came out and fixed it the same day - no cost. Amazing and reliable company and we will absolutely use them again in the future for other needs!"

"My 30-year-old LiftMaster garage door opener stopped working. Marcos gave me 3 different options. I chose the Chamberlain garage door. Marcos removed the old garage door opener, installed the newone and cleaned up in less than two hours."

"I Purchased a new opener on a whim when I came across it on a Black Friday sale at local box store. My current 20+ year old Stanley still worked fine but... After a few weeks with it sitting in garage I went on to Angie's list just to see if I could find out how much it was going to cost to have a pro install it. I knew my door spring was completely out of adjustment and dangerous, and my rollers were trash and the coiled cables were fraying above by spring. I submitted inquiry before bed and received a text immediately from Ken asking to be of help and offering to have a tech here at 8 am the next morning if I liked to size it up and give a quote for the work. I agreed and the next morning at 7:45 am by Teal from Ponderosa who was on way and on time. He was extremely likable and professional. listened to my wants, concerns and needs and gave me an estimate for it all on the spot. I thought it fair and he was actually able to do the job then! Literally just hours from asking for estimates I had the work completed! Another outfit called to see if I needed an estimate and when I told them Ponderosa Garage Doors was already here and doing they job they told me I was in good hands, that Ponderosa were top notch pros! Teal completed the job excellently, programmed all my remotes and keypad and explained everything I needed to know. He even took the time to program the built in opener in our Cadillac that I had been unable to figure out how to pair with old opener. I would not hesitate to recommend these guys nor do I think you should have any concerns about their work."

"Perfectly. He even took the time to go over the features and functionality. And to program the door opener to work with one of our car's "hidden features", so we didn't have to use the additional remote in that car. If I had another garage that needed another garage door opener -- I hire him again without hesitation."

"I called Davids Garage door and spoke with David himself. I ask him about replacing a garage door opener. He asked if I had the opener or if he needed to bring one. He explained the differences to me and then gave me a quote that was very reasonable. He came out and I told him that I wanted to replace two doors but was going to wait till spring. I had already got a quote from a big box store. He gave me a quote which was better than the big box and another company. Never did he try to sell me but instead just educated me. I ended up getting two doors installed and 3 garage door openers. David was fun to work with, having a great sense of humor and communicated as to everything he was doing. I would highly recommend Davids Garage Doors Service as he has great old fashioned customer service that is so hard to find. My doors look great and work fantastic."

"John came at the scheduled appointment time, did a coupe door test runs, and then slightly adjusted driving unit force. That was it! Now it works almost like a brand new unit! He didn't even ask me to pay anything saying that no real work had been done. He took some time going with me over options I have to install a new door opener when the old one will start failing. He sounded very professional not trying to talk me into expensive deals and suggested only units that would suit my needs. When the time comes to replace my old unit, I'm definitely calling the Ever-Green Garage Doors and highly recommending others to do so as well!"

FAQs for garage door opener installation and replacement projects in Sandy, OR

A chain-drive opener costs less, but it’s louder and needs more upkeep. If your budget allows, a belt-drive model is often the smarter long-term buy, especially for an attached garage with a bedroom above where noise matters. The decision between a chain or belt opener comes down to your budget and needs, and your garage door opener installer can help you choose an option that best suits you.

Choosing the right horsepower for your garage door opener is crucial for safe and efficient performance. Your garage door’s design and material determine the required horsepower. A single-car garage demands a half horsepower rating, while a two-car garage requires a rating between three-fourths and 1.25 horsepower. Selecting the proper power level ensures optimum performance and durability over the life of the opener.

Plan on a quick garage door tune-up once or twice a year. Tighten the chain or belt, lubricate moving parts, test the safety sensors, and swap out weak batteries in the remotes or backup unit. A few dollars in lubricant and 30 minutes of work can fend off costly repairs, keep the door running smoothly, and help the opener hit its full life expectancy.
