"I worked with Mike at Enzyme Life Sciences, who was very responsive throughout the entire bat extraction process.  From the start, Mike made it clear that his primary focus is on the clean up of the bat droppings using his enzyme formula.   <br /> I had done my research into the bat extraction process prior to working with Mike, and was surprised that he did not have a plan that coincided with what I had read.  Either way, I decided to trust Mike, and his expertise, and worked with him through this bat extraction process. <br /> The exterior of the structure was sealed up using caulk and spray foam.  The spray foam was sanded away and its remnants can still be found in various places throughout my lawn.  This isn't entirely terrible, though it does remind me of how unsightly some of the yellow spray foam is on the outside of my house.   <br /> Mike also used a wire mesh to fill in larger openings, as well as to construct one-way extraction traps to allow bats to freely leave the structure.  There was a piece of wood that needed to be replaced, which Mike did replace, though it wasn't painted and was left for me to remedy.  This isn't necessarily a deal breaker, though my expectation would be that the exterior of the house would look the same, if not slightly better, after working through this bat extraction process with Enzyme Life Sciences. <br /> Throughout the entire process it was clear that Mike's company focuses on the enzyme treatment.  Mike made working with him and his schedule easy, as he was super responsive from start to finish. <br />"

"I was very happy with David’s work. There are other mold inspectors who offer cheaper options, but you pay for high quality inspection with David. This is the sort of stuff that you don’t want to cut corners with. From the get-go, I felt assured of David’s understanding and expertise in the area of mold. I was pleased with his gameplan that was tailored to my home. It was thoughtful and deliberate; nothing seemed cookie cutter. After the actual inspection, he provided a huge amount of detail and rigor to the lab reports and analysis to help us understand the reality of the situation. He spent ample time walking us through the report and explaining to us best next steps. Additionally, he also provides a detailed gameplan and evaluation criteria for prospective remediators to ensure that they do a good job not only remediating, but also cleaning the toxins. He also brought empathy to his work given his own personal history with mold. I can tell he really cares about his work. He was personable and warm and was very considerate of us. The area of mold inspection and mold remediation seems like a bit of a Wild West, and finding somebody reliable can be challenging. But based on my own experience, I would recommend David to do the inspection well. Thanks David."

FAQs for asbestos testing projects in Saugerties, NY

Asbestos appears as long, thin, or curled mineral fibers that are not visible to the naked eye under normal conditions. Homes constructed before 1989 are more likely to contain this material, so a professional inspection is essential. Because asbestos identification requires specialized techniques, having a certified inspector assess your property is the safest way to confirm its presence and protect your family’s health.

Free asbestos testing services do not exist. You can purchase testing kits online for $30 per unit, and these kits include lab fees, return shipping, consultation, sampling media, and the final results. The results from a kit are less detailed and accurate than those provided by a certified asbestos testing professional. Since collecting a sample exposes you to harmful fibers, hiring a professional is essential to ensure safety and accurate testing.

Receiving asbestos test results takes one to seven days, but different labs offer varying turnaround times. When expedited processing is arranged, the laboratory completes analysis within 24 hours; standard processing requires up to two weeks. Hiring a certified professional ensures that all samples are collected correctly and results are provided without delay, safeguarding your home throughout the process.

Home insurance doesn't often cover asbestos testing and removal. Many policies have a clause called a "pollution exclusion," which means they do not cover indoor pollutants like asbestos. However, your insurance company might cover something like asbestos siding removal costs if it is released due to things beyond your control, such as storm damage.

If a DIY project or accident in your home releases harmful fibers, you must pay for the test and removal.

Yes, you can legally inspect and remove asbestos in your house as long as it's a single-family home and not a multi-family unit. However, the EPA strongly recommends hiring an asbestos abatement pro since testing can be dangerous.

Pros have all the right tools and safety equipment, and you risk breathing in the fibers by taking samples yourself. They also know how to collect samples and safely dispose of materials properly.

Asbestos encapsulation is a process that seals asbestos-containing materials with a protective barrier to prevent the release of harmful fibers. It serves as an alternative to complete removal when full abatement is not necessary. Encapsulation costs between $2 and $6 per square foot, offering a cost-effective option that contains asbestos safely when applied by a certified professional.
