"Stacy cleaned our dryer vent as asked, and then installed 2 dimmers on an electrical switch as an added service. He communicated efficiently, was on time, flexible, honest, and friendly. We would hire him again. "

"We needed our attic ladder dropdown replaced, as existing ladder didn't meet code AND was damaged. Andrew offered to do the entire job at one price, or a discount with "homeowner help" which I was very interested to do, as this was a two-man job. He helped me identify the right hardware to order ahead-of-time, arrived on-time with all the tools needed (and more), and was very proficient at working through a complicated project with creativity & great communication. The price was great, job was done in a couple hours, and I got to learn a ton. Would definitely hire again."

"The original installation work was of very poor quality which led to the failure of bottom pin and separation of the veneer. Chuck had a look and clearly explained his plan for the repair and the estimated cost. He replaced hardware and the supporting block of wood between the veneer panels. The project was out of scope for our DIY skills/tools. We are very pleased to have this door reinstalled and functioning again. Bill was per the estimate. Highy recommend Chuck for your next handyman project, we will be calling him again."

"My 20-year-old split AC system died in June 2020, right before a month of intense heat and humidity. I called several AC companies but they said they would not work in an attic in such heat. Another highly-rated AC firm recommended I call Stafford, one of the few companies that will do this work in summer. Stafford came out and looked at the situation and sent me an estimate the same day. It was considerably less than the estimate another firm had given me over the phone, and with the detail I wanted. I accepted the bid and they gave me a July date for replacement, making clear that if it was extremely hot the work might be delayed. Crews came on the agreed date and worked hard inside and out for almost three days to replace the old system. In this age of COVID 19 they wore masks in the house and clean-up at the end of the day was excellent. My new system works like a dream. If I need work again on my AC or boiler, I know who I will call. These guys were outstanding."

"I ordered the part off the internet with the intention of performing the work myself.  After watching a few YouTube videos, I wasn't super confident in my abilities and decided to call a plumber. I called  A Aarts & Tim's Quality plumbing for a quote and they said between $150-$175.  It seemed a bit high for a job that wouldn't take long and for which I supplied the part, but to be honest I just wanted it done and they could come out the next day. (plus I had asked for the cost on the Angie's list forum and a plumber told me about that much so it wasn't unexpected). <br /> Steve arrived within the scheduled time frame, though he seemed apologetic about arriving at the later end, he wasn't actually late.  He was a very personable and sweet guy, I showed him the shower and he confirmed that my diagnoses of the problem was probably correct.  He proceeded to install the part then showed me how the valve worked and showed me that the problem wasn't 100% fixed, most likely because my faucet set is a Moen, which apparently often leaks out of the diverter, and a pretty cheap set to boot (which I could tell).  We discussed the cost of replacing ($500-$600) and I said I would put it on my list of to-dos. <br /> Overall I am pleased, Steve was upfront, helpful and knew what he was doing.  Even though I still think $150 was kind of expensive for a job where I supplied the part and which took *maybe* a half hour, I did agree to it and there were no hidden costs, so I am happy. <br />   <br /> Thanks Steve! <br /> Oh!  I also like that they have the price of some of their routine jobs listed right on their website -  I wish more people would do that! <br /> <br />"

"Went very well. Replaced timing belt and other belts, did not charge extra labor for each replacement (like bobbi and steves quote, which was over a thousand more since they charged me labor for everything!). Since they were already replacing the timing belt also replaced the water pump and other belts. They gave me a couple options for replacements with different prices, one being a standard kit vs just the belt itself. They seemed up front the whole time and did not charge me any extra. Also did a nice job getting me a used Toyota cd player/radio, they charged me labor to see why my radio was not working and then installed it. <br /> Overall they provide a good service and and are good to work with. Seem honest, everything they fixed is working great. NO complaints. <br /> <br />"

"Pat Martin is the owner/operator of this business. We have used him for several years now, replacing a much more expensive firm that used employees to do the work. No surprise that minimum wage laborers do not have the same degreeof commitment to quality as an owner/operator. So, wwhen you hire Martin Bros., you get Pat on the job. We have been delighted each and every time that we have used him. He cleaned our windows a couple of weeks ago, and, after that, he did my son's house and this week my daughter's.  <br /> My daughter's windows were installed last year and still had sticky residue from the manufacturing process. So, Pat had to take more time with his blade and Goo-Gone to remove the gunk before doing the actual cleaning. Now the windows are crystal clear and a joy to look out of. <br /> Another point worth noting: Pat is a very fine and honest person and family man. We do not hesitate for a moment in giving him the run of our house, even if we are away. That makes it much easier to use Pat than, say, a contractor with hourly wage workers whom we do not and really cannot know. <br /> To top it all off, Pat is a real bargain. I often have to tell him that he has not charged us enough!! <br />"

FAQs for thermostat installation and replacement projects in Savage, MN

Smart thermostats may be worth it for many homeowners. They come with various features, including voice control and smartphone apps. Vacation mode can help lower energy usage when you’re out of town for an extended period. Alert warnings let you know about major spikes or drops in temperature. Smartphone apps can track energy usage, and smart thermostats can learn your routine over time to adjust your temperature and reduce wasted energy consumption automatically.

You typically do not need more than one smart thermostat. While it’s common to see multiple mechanical thermostats throughout a large home, multiple smart thermostats may try to override each other. This can lead to problems with the HVAC system. Ensure the unit you buy has the option for dual- or multi-zoned systems to avoid compatibility issues.

Installing a programmable or smart thermostat may save you $180 per year in utility costs. A big part of this comes from a smart thermostat’s ability to learn and adapt to your regular routines. With smartphone apps or web-based interfaces, you also have the option to control your thermostat when you’re not home.
