"Mike worked with us on the design of the reconstruction of our front porch and had great recommendations for us. He quoted us a fair price and completed the work On time as promised. We will use his family run company again and I will recommend them to anyone. We have had many compliments on the finished product and we are very happy with it. Thank you Mike and Tami."

"Let me start by saying that the quote that I got from the Woodshop was the most expensive for the project of remodeling my kitchen, but because the Woodshop had a good reputation based on reviews on Angie’ List, Houzz.com, and word of mouth I made the decision to contract with them for the job. I can’t begin to explain how disappointed I am with the whole experience. In an effort to keep this from becoming too long I will highlight the main areas of concern below: - There were things that I was told prior to signing the contract which ended up being untrue or not honored by the Woodshop, The items were not important to the completion of the job but I feel it is worth mentioning. - There was a definite lack of communication from the Woodshop on important issues such as scheduling, project delays, and problem resolution. - There was also a lack of communication within the Woodshop. There were instances in which staff was not aware of important project details, which in some cases affected materials ordering. In addition, there were scheduling issues that resulted from the lack of communication within the company. - The design for the kitchen contained a flaw in the spacing of the cabinets that would not allow for the dishwasher door to open fully. It would open about two-thirds of the way and then come to rest on the side of the pantry cabinet. I was told it was because the unusual size of the dishwasher door (it’s a GE Profile). This was corrected by cutting back the pantry so now the door opens, but that caused other issues because the counter top installation was meant to be flush with the Pantry… - The cut outs for the built in dishwasher and refrigerator are extremely tight. So tight that dishwasher hose was causing the dishwasher to be installed at an angle and the appliance installer had to replace the rubber insulation with a much thinner version so that the door would close properly. At one point the pressure from the refrigerator actually caused the side panel of the built in to detach leaving a gap in the cabinetry above the fridge and the side panel. I want to note hear that all appliance measurements were given to them months in advance. When I questioned the sizing of the built in I was told that the built-ins are designed to standard sizes, not to the fit of my appliances specifically. This makes me wonder why they needed the specs to the appliances that I purchased? - The finishes were rushed and sloppy. It took several return visits from the woodshop and I still had to hire another contractor to cleanup some of the sloppy work that was done. - To this point there has been a lack of follow up and concern from The Woodshop. There are still issues that I am working to resolve and I am beginning to believe that I am going to have to pay another contractor to complete. This really is just a summary of the bigger pain points experienced with this kitchen remodel. To be fair, my kitchen looks good, some things were done really well. It took some time, but my kitchen functions properly with only minor flaws, but it was a definite struggle to get to this point. One last note; The owner of The Woodshop can be very convincing when he is standing in your partially functioning kitchen asking for final payment. I would recommend that you hold off until you are completely satisfied with the work. My husband and I didn’t."

"From the first call until the punch list, Jack Havlin and his work crew were timely and professional in rebuilding our home. The home was a custom design on a difficult lot. They kept us informed of issues and solutions that were not anticipated in the original plans. The workers were courteous and professional. The workmanship was outstanding. I highly recommend them for home construction."

FAQs for outdoor kitchen building service projects in Schererville, IN

Building your own pizza oven can be a cost-effective option if you already possess the necessary firebricks or materials and have the skills to complete the project. When you have the required supplies on hand, you save on material costs and labor fees. However, if you need to source every component, a pre-made kit may not deliver the same savings.

Fire bricks are engineered to withstand the high temperatures generated inside a pizza oven, protecting the structure from cracking or spalling. Standard bricks can fail under intense heat, potentially damaging the oven and creating safety risks. By using true fire-rated bricks, homeowners maintain consistent cooking temperatures, preserve the oven’s structural integrity, and reduce the likelihood of costly repairs. The modest increase in material cost is offset by longer service life and safer operation.

An optimal pizza oven installation positions the opening exactly between 36 and 48 inches above the ground to guarantee clear visibility and safe, comfortable access. This height optimizes heat distribution and ergonomic use. In addition, dome height can vary: shorter domes produce the signature soft, charred crust of Neapolitan pies, whereas taller domes are ideal for generating the robust baking environment required for New York–style pizzas.
