Each time it has been with different items: I have had my kitchen remodeled,  a deck torn down and rebuilt, a new roof put on, old fencing disc arded, and a yard cleanup. The only difference in pricing was for the roofing and even though ti was more money it was STILL CHEAPER than a dumpster!!! "Mark is the best finish carpenter I have ever hired. He built a beautiful wood balance for my living room window. Trimmed out in gorgeous moldings and painted to perfection. It was better than I had ever imagined and we always get compliments on that piece of original, handcrafted work. He also did some other work in the house as well- took down a wall and reconfigured two rooms to build a closet. It was perfect. "It went well.  The weatherproofing work lasted longer than I expected as it was really just a stop-gap effort until we could fully do a rebuild.  The finish carpentry work on the soffet was very detailed and turned out great.  Kirby and team were busy and we needed to get a couple guys over to hold and install, but after a short amount of back and forth on scheduling we got it done.  Looks great.

"This is the second project we have used Ray for and while the first project was excellent, this one did not go nearly as well.   Mudroom is very cold in winter because the heating system that Ray proposed is inadequate for the space.  In addition, the plaster on the walls was rushed, causing bubbles in the plaster.  I had to have a painter come in to fix the job.  Ray has been completely unresponsive to emails and phone calls.

"1. Removing the old deck: They worked very hard to demolish a very large and seriously rotten deck. They carried the old timbers and decking uphill to the front yard and the dumpster. A tough job and they did it very well. They even removed the old concrete footings.

2. Constructing the new deck: They quickly set up the frame, but the work was disrupted by a blizzard that dumped 2 feet of snow on the construction site. They shoveled the snow and resumed construction. Winter conditions required extra time for the curing of the new concrete footings. The railings on the deck were of particular concern to me because the view is of a lake. The design allows a very good view of the lake and meets code for railings.

3. New gutter: The water from the roof creates a serious problem by dripping large amounts of rain and melting snow on the deck, creating icy conditions and water coming into the porch. Scott Harris put up a new, large gutter that is handling the water and diverting it away from the deck and house.
