"This was one of the best experiences my wife and I had. Marvin was promp, professional and attentative to our needs. He made our home really standout with the lights he installed. And more importantly, he kept us advised every step of the way as to what he was doing. We will be requesting him for any future projects relating to landscaping or yard maintenance."

"Bryan Wallis, Jason, and the team completely transformed our backyard from less than average to what feels like a luxury property now. It was a very large project and we selected Wallis after Bryan came out and had a clear vision of what the backyard could look like. Although the finished product looks amazing, the prep work and foundation for all the changes is where so much of the focus and work went into. The grading, laying gravel/sand, and leveling is what I was really impressed with. The landscape changes and lighting around the hardscape look great and the team showed up everyday on time. Overall, I felt like Bryan's experience and recommendations made the project better than expected. We are very satsified with Wallis and feel strongly that the hardscape was a great investment for our home."

"Had a retaining wall extending away from our house with a defective brick cap with failing masonry and bricks falling away left and right. We also had several spots on our brick house where the brick either separated or noticeable masonry cracks were developing. Of the two contractors I considered, Pete came by and took his time to understand the issues, match mortar and to propose long-term fixes (the first contractor just looked over photos and planned to repair what was a poor design). During the job, he gave expert advice on what areas to keep an eye on moving forward (i.e. spots where the home brickwork design could be a problem later). He also noticed a neighbor's brick chimney was actually leaning by 5-10 degrees and advised her to think hard about a repair in the near future, noting an expensive repair was far better than a collapsed chimney. In my case, he removed the existing bricks from the top of the retaining wall, preserved the vast majority of them (removed the attached mortar), poured underneath a new concrete base and reinstalled the brickwork in a way that apart from the mortar (lighter white, but essentially identically to existing) was really hard to distinguish from the rest of the house. He also removed / repaired mortar around multiple cracks around the house. And in one tricky area, he removed the outer half of several bricks (which separated on their own) and cut bricks to replace and re-mortar in a way that was again hard to distinguish from the surrounding brickwork. This was a 2 day job for Pete to complete. While the job was a little expensive, it was well worth the investment to make sure that the repairs would fully reestablish the harmony and attractiveness of our exterior brickwork. I am honestly a DIY kind of homeowner who really dislikes bringing in contractors, but there is no way that I could have done this on my own, at least not without leaving behind a series of eyesores... So if you care about your brickwork's useful life and appearance, or you have a complicated repair job, I highly recommend Pete."

"The process was easy. I love that Phillip wasn't pushy even when I was undecided on whether or not I wanted to go with AA Marble. I'm SOOO happy I did go with them. It was a pleasant experience. Very good quality of Granite and the installers were on time and professional! Great Job! Thank you so much!"

"-We had a bad water pipe leak in the backyard irrigation. We just bought the house and were not able to find the shut off for the irrigation system. Arturo answered the call quickly and after telling him the problem. He was at the house in about an hour. Arturo found the shut off valve and inspected the system. He found several other problems and showed us the problems, explained the problem and estimated cost to fix it. They filled in all holes or trenches that had to dug out. Replaced all sod or other ground cover that had to be moved. Even the sod that had to be moved, after a couple of weeks the seams were gone. Arturo fixed the problems with good quality parts and did a great job. Arturo and his crew were prompt, knowledgeable and very professional. We would recommend Blue Drops Irrigation to anyone and will use them again. Rocky Seffens"

"[This review is for work done last year.] Overall, I was fairly pleased with the crew. They worked their butts off, no question, 10 hours for a crew of four. I asked them to trim some overgrown shrubs, dig up some landscape timbers, remove weeds and brush from an entire yard, dig up some plants I didn't like, spread pine straw in the backyard and shrub beds, and (biggest of all, in my estimate) remove all the tree-ivy, brush, saplings, and other unwelcome stuff on a steep wooded and ivy-filled hill. They did everything I asked, hauled away the debris, and left everything tidy. So that's the good part. I do have a couple minor complaints about their work. First, the shrub trimming was a whack job--just a slice across the top. No shaping, no interior pruning, etc. The shrubs were shorter, but still looked like crap. Second, the plants I wanted dug up weren't actually dug out, they were cut off at soil level. They grew back within weeks, and are more vigorous than ever. I wanted them *removed* and I was clear about it, so this definitely annoyed me. Third, they scalped the front yard with string trimmers. Since it was all weeds, that wasn't so bad, but I wasn't prepared to seed and manage a new lawn, so I ended up with another crop of weeds anyway. As others have said, their prices are high. I have mixed feelings whether I would hire them again."

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Snellville, GA

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
