"We spoke to several Angi installers and Prolift was the only one that didn’t recommend new parts (rollers and springs) to our garage doors before installing door opener. Jessie came on time, under budget, repaired parts, aligned railings and installed door opener. Our garage door never sounded better and we don’t know why we didn’t do it sooner. We highly recommend Prolift for your garage door project"

"Very fast service and installation. Lowest price among the four companies who quoted. Brandon, the installer, was very friiendly and courteous He worked promptly and efficiently on a day when the temperature was in the 90s. He fully explained the operation of the doors and openers. I am a very happy customer and highly recommend Performance Overhead Door to anyone who is looking for installation or service for garage doors."

"Technicians examined my garage door and diagnosed the problems with it. They completed repairs the same evening and I had a brand new motor assembly which is quiet and working perfectly since. They do nice work."

"Actually, I just wanted to have them to come and replace the bottom door panels of our garage door, however, I was convinced in replacing the whole thing because of the great deal they were offering. Well, I am glad that I have taken the offer. What a huge difference it was! They did an awesome installation, leaving no mess behind. Their service was worth every penny, plus the new door looks beautiful.

"Vinny was great! Very down to earth quick and knows what he's doing. He was honest about the timeline of service. He gave us options of garage door openers the would work with the doors we ordered. Vinny and his team are great! I would hire them again and I highly recommend them. Lastly, Terri is GREAT. Mic Drop! Oh we are VERY happy with everything, the service, the product and most importantly the Team! Thanks Hometown Garage Door Services."

"Very good.  Although they were unable to replace the insulation strip due to our garage door being cheap.  Felt like I got my money's worth out of the other things he did and the info he gave about getting a better garage door.

FAQs for garage door opener installation and replacement projects in Somersville, CT

A chain-drive opener costs less, but it’s louder and needs more upkeep. If your budget allows, a belt-drive model is often the smarter long-term buy, especially for an attached garage with a bedroom above where noise matters. The decision between a chain or belt opener comes down to your budget and needs, and your garage door opener installer can help you choose an option that best suits you.

Choosing the right horsepower for your garage door opener is crucial for safe and efficient performance. Your garage door’s design and material determine the required horsepower. A single-car garage demands a half horsepower rating, while a two-car garage requires a rating between three-fourths and 1.25 horsepower. Selecting the proper power level ensures optimum performance and durability over the life of the opener.

Plan on a quick garage door tune-up once or twice a year. Tighten the chain or belt, lubricate moving parts, test the safety sensors, and swap out weak batteries in the remotes or backup unit. A few dollars in lubricant and 30 minutes of work can fend off costly repairs, keep the door running smoothly, and help the opener hit its full life expectancy.
