"I hired Beyer Builders earlier this year for total remodeling of my master bathroom and partial remodeling of another bathroom. I wanted a doorless walk-in shower that would be easy to clean. John Beyer suggested the Onyx product for the entire shower, which has turned out to be perfect. In the other bathroom, he installed an Onyx surround over a new cast iron tub. The plumbers told me that most builders don't install cast iron tubs any more because of the weight, but John knew that I wanted quality materials. Both bathrooms are now as beautiful as I hoped they would be. In addition, I asked Beyer Builders to replace two wooden decks at my house. Looking for a low maintenance option, I decided on Azek decking material. The original framing was still in good shape, so Beyer Builders replaced only the decking to save me some money. I also asked Beyer Builders to do some smaller jobs, including completing a baseboard replacement project in the house and repairing some siding. I asked John Beyer if he could suggest a company to asphalt my gravel driveway. I make an appointment for the asphalt company representative to come look at the driveway and John surprised me by showing up to see what the person was going to say. When the asphalt person asked if I had any place to dump fill that would result from some excavation that would be necessary, John even knew of someone up the road who was willing to take the fill, which saved me the cost of having it hauled it away. The driveway turned out beautifully. My husband hired Beyer Builders in 2016 to replace the front door and retile the entryway. That turned out so well that when I was looking for someone to hire for this year's projects, I thought first of Beyer Builders. I trust John and Sharon Beyer completely to help me out with any home improvement or repair projects. They understood my desire to make changes to cut back on maintenance. They, their workers, and their subcontractors, such as plumbers, tilers, and painters, do quality work."

"I called maybe 15 window companies to replace  a custom window that was 38x62 (that was within a wall of 9 windows. The wall of windows is ~10 feet wide and 15 feet tall). I heard 10 different explantations -- some companies said I would need scaffolding, some said I would need to replace the entire wall which would cost $20,000. Its ridiculous how lazy some contractors are. They aren't willing to do anything outside of the box. Don't give up calling people. Don't listen to everyone bad mouth homes / condos that were built in Wicker Park.  <br /> Joel's company was the only one that said it was possible to fix my situation. The prior window was leaking water and became deformed / slightly bent. We ordered a new custom Marvin window with a wood interior and a aluminum evergreen exterior. Took about 6 weeks lead time. The new window fits perfect and we no longer have water intrusion. The new Marivn window also turns 180 degrees, so we are able to clean the exterior glass. <br />"

"Martin wrote up our quotes on the spot and explained each line item. Really appreciated that he doesn’t just quote the jobs, he works them with his crew as well. He designed the job to best serve our needs, which included eliminating our old vents and installing a more efficient ridge vent system. He kept me informed as to timeline and, once on the job, the guys were efficient, took care to protect our property, and did a phenomenal job on the roofs. There was one small issue on a drip guard, and they came back and re-did it to make sure that we were 100% happy with the job - and we are. The roofs look fabulous and I would recommend DT to anyone (and already have)!"

"My home is 20 years old and in need of updates and repairs, Jim has done numerous repairs, etc., in the past 4 years and I could not be more pleased.  He makes decision making easy and with his keen eye, and has brought potential problems to my attention. <br /> After many years of procrastinating, I finally called Jim for an estimate, and his thoughts, on the best material for my kitchen counters.  He immediately made a home visit to see what might work best . . once I made a decision, Jim made an appointment with a distributor who did measurements (with Jim present), the counter tops were ordered.  Once the counter tops were ready for installation, Jim called, we set up a start date and were on our way.   <br /> Jim was always on time, courteous and finished the job as promised. <br /> Am I pleased with Jim's work(?), absolutely . . I now have a gorgeous counter top and the kitchen sink I have wanted for years. <br /> I hope that Jim will be available for my next project which I hope to have done this summer . . a three season room.  We have discussed this, but have not set a date as yet.  I have no doubt that this next project will be exactly what I want and with Jim's usual high standards and eye for detail."

"I found UCS on Angie's List and called Ray. He arrived on time and took the blinds with him. He delivered them the next day as promised. They were clean and looked new. I took them down and re installed them but Ray would have done that for a small fee. He was very professional. We will call him in a few weeks to clean our carpet. He does accept credit cards. <br />"

"The crew had tarps over all of my plants and shrubs to protect them. They had the roof torn off within 3 hours, which was all very clean and organized. The shingles, drip edge, gutter aprons and chimney flashing were all installed within 6 hours or so. Then the crew went around the house with magnets making sure no nails were left to step on. Everything looks great and was completed in 1 day. I'm very impressed. Thanks for the great work. <br />"

FAQs for door or window screens install or repair projects in South Beloit, IL

Most off-the-shelf screens come in fixed sizes, ranging from 18 inches by 20 inches to 36 inches by 74 inches, which fit the vast majority of residential windows. If your opening falls outside that range or has a unique shape, you’ll need a custom screen built to the exact measurements. Going custom ensures a secure fit, a solid barrier against bugs, and a clean, finished look.

The decision to repair or replace your screen depends on the extent of the damage. Small holes or tears in otherwise solid mesh can be patched, and a sturdy frame usually doesn’t need to go anywhere. However, once the frame is bent or the mesh is brittle and fraying in several spots, replacement becomes a more sensible option—and often proves to be less costly in the long run. Take a close look at both parts before making a decision.

To rescreen a window, start by prying out the old spline, then lift the torn mesh from the frame. Lay the new screen over the frame, allowing about an inch of excess on all sides, and hold it in place while pressing fresh spline into the groove with a roller. Check that the mesh is taut—many pros rest a small brick on it while they work—then trim the overhang with a utility knife.

Most window screens last for 10 to 12 years. Time, sun, and weather gradually make the mesh brittle, so you’ll start to see sagging, rips, or thinning spots that let bugs get through. Check the screens each season; if the mesh crumbles or the frame warps, it’s time to replace them to keep air flowing and pests outside.

Most pros can swap out a screen in 10 minutes to an hour. A quick pop‑in replacement goes fastest, while fitting new mesh into an existing frame or working on a hard‑to‑reach upper window adds time. Either way, plan for at least a few extra minutes per screen so the installer can verify the fit and ensure the spline is seated correctly.
