"Steve is amazing. He is extremely professional and a real artisan and craftsman. The front doors look brand new and really make the house look great. He is a meticulous worker and very honest. He takes real pride in his work. The cabinet top had major water damage. He made it look like new. The first stain he put on it turned out not to be a good match. He removed that and redid the work until he had a perfect match for the rest of the cabinet. We thought his price very fair considering the amount and intricacy of the work involved and the quality of the results he provided. He finished both projects in little over three days. We recommend him highly and would use him again any time we have a wood refinishing project. <br />"

"It pays to advertise. Earlier this summer we received a postcard advertising the furniture repair and restoration services offered by Soule in Byhalia, a small local business previously unknown to us. For some time we had wondered how we were going to be able to repair a shutter door on our six-piece Ethan Allen entertainment cabinet, which admittedly we ourselves damaged quite badly when, prior to the installation of some new carpeting, we lost our footing as we attempted to manhandle the cabinet from the room in which it was displayed, and wound up dropping the piece to the floor. The door was literally ripped from its hinges and (we thought) splintered beyond repair. <br /> Nonetheless, after receiving their ad, we took the door to Soule Furniture Restoration, and the results (when we received the fully restored door) three weeks later were nothing short of stunning. The work that Jose, one of Soule's expert woodworkers, performed defied belief. It was as if the door had never been damaged; even if we peer closely at the once-damaged area we cannot tell where Jose replaced the splintered wood with new stock, and the finish he applied to the door matches exactly that which was originally applied with rest of the cabinet. We're confident that Norm Abram, the master carpenter who hosts the PBS television show and quot; The New Yankee Workshopand quot; and is a regular cast member on and quot; This Old Houseand quot;, could stroll through Soule Restoration's workshop and walk out beaming. Their work is that good. <br /> If I were to make but recommendation to Soule Restoration, it would simply be this. Put a sign out on the curb of Quality Drive so that your potential customers will know EXACTLY where your workshop is located. C'mon, fellows, you're all master carpenters, erect a sign proudly claiming that and quot;this is the placeand quot;. You've certainly earned it, and the rest of us furniture manglers won't have to guess exactly which building on Quality Drive is yours. As I said, it pays to advertise. <br />"

"Floor plans were drawn after measuring and discussing what type of cabinets and floor plan were best. <br /> Upon signing the contract we picked out the cabinet draw fronts, color, undercouinter lights, and hardware. <br /> After the existing cabinets and furdown were removed, the cabinets and hardware were installed. <br /> Then the crown molding and finishing touches were added."

"Black Tie Moving was great! They were efficient, professional, and took care of my furniture. While a little bit expensive (for a small move, you get 2 Black Tie movers for the same price of 3 movers from many other companies), Black Tie did a great job and were available to do my move on a Sunday afternoon (the only day I was available). The flexibility and peace of mind was worth the price premium."

FAQs for furniture refinish projects in Southaven, MS

A complete table refinishing project requires between four and eight days from start to finish. The actual hands-on work takes between two and 10 hours, with the remaining time dedicated to drying periods between applications. The stripping and sanding phases demand the most active labor, while applying finishes requires patience as each layer dries completely before proceeding.

Several elements influence dining table refinishing costs, with size being the primary factor. Larger tables or those with extensions require more materials and labor time. The wood type matters significantly—hardwoods may need specialized treatment compared to softer woods. The table's current condition also impacts pricing, as damaged surfaces need repairs before refinishing can begin.

Refinishing often proves more economical than purchasing a comparable quality replacement. Professional table refinishing costs between $150 and $400 on average, while preserving the original craftsmanship and character of your piece.

This approach makes particular sense for well-constructed wood furniture that would be expensive to replace with similar quality. For sentimental pieces or antiques, refinishing also maintains their history and personal value.

Professional furniture refinishers charge between $40 and $100 per hour for their services. This rate varies based on geographic location, the refinisher's experience level, and the complexity of the project. Some professionals offer project-based pricing rather than hourly rates, especially for standard-sized pieces like coffee tables or end tables. When requesting quotes, ask whether the estimate includes materials or represents labor costs only.

For tables with minor wear, you can sometimes refresh the appearance without complete stripping and sanding. Using gel stains and wipe-on finishes can address surface issues while preserving the existing finish underneath. This approach works best for tables with light cosmetic damage rather than those with deep scratches or damaged finishes. However, proper stripping and sanding remain necessary for comprehensive restoration or significant color changes for professional-quality results.
