"I have an approximately 1100 sq ft driveway that had a couple of stress cracks that needed to be filled and sealed. Called Sealpro after seeing their rating on Angie's list and had them come over for an estimate. Today they filled and sealed my drive and it looks like new. Great job! <br />"

"I had them to redo my whole roof 1.5 year ago and I found a piece of shingle fell off recently. I contacted the owner and they stood behind their work and promise. He quickly scheduled a follow-up and sent his team to fix it in a short period of time. In these days you can easily find any contractors do the work and work away with your money. However once the job is done, you will never see them again when there are any issues. This will not happen to Hi Tech Contracting as they are professional, responsible and trustworthy. Highly recommended!"

"Ray is a very busy man but once you work with him you understand why.  We had to wait approximately 2 months for him to get to us but his work was well worth the wait.   He is very conscientious about his work and instills that work ethic in his team members.  He exercised forethought and took pride in preparing for all the different phases of the driveway and the pad.  He even made it his business to constantly watch the weather report, to ensure that it wouldn't rain at the time when cement had just been poured,  as that would mess up the whole project.  We had to extend the project a couple days because of the rain.  <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Once the cement was poured, Ray actually did the final smoothing of the cement himself.  It was like watching an artisan, as he worked.  <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Yes, in order to get started, we had to wait longer than previously anticipated.  However,  we felt  from our initial conversation with Ray, that he was a person who would treat people with the same professionalism and respect that he would expect himself.  We weren't mistaken.  I will offer an example of what I am saying.   Ray had initially scheduled our job to start somewhere around the middle of Sept.  Unfortunately, around the middle of August we were hit with extenuating circumstances that required the completion of our job as soon as humanly possible.  When I explained this challenge to Ray,  he worked things out in a way that got him here a couple weeks earlier.  He was under no obligation to do this but he did and it was greatly appreciated. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> If you are looking for someone who takes pride in their work and tries to satisfy his customers to the best of his ability, then I would definitely consider Culligan Concrete & Masonry.   As long as you don't require that the work is done immediately, you will be pleased that you waited. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Thank you Ray."

"Our new walkway is the most beautiful and stunning walkway that I have ever seen! Robert, the owner, was very patient with us in listening to our needs and suggesting options. He provided options for either a paver or stone walkway and suggested local dealers in the area to go and see samples. After reviewing the options, we decided on stone because we liked the color better. Although stone was a little more expensive, it was worth it, given the overall expense. We reviewed the sample stone walkways at the local dealer and we initially thought that Vermont Slate and Tennessee Slate were the prettiest options. However, the dealer informed us that Vermont Slate flakes and Tennessee Slate doesn't hold well. He told us that Bluestone is the most popular selling, and is a better option than the other two. Therefore, we went with Bluestone. We later met Robert at the dealer to select the stones and steps that he would be using. We decided on "Thermal" Bluestone at that time, because it has a smooth surface and would be easier when shoveling snow. As it turned out, Robert did an outstanding job laying out the Thermal Bluestone steps and walkway. Robert is very artistically talented! He designed a different shape to our walkway, which was a big improvement. It turned out that we liked our new Bluestone walkway even better than Vermont Slate and Tennessee Slate. We liked it even better than the sample Bluestone walkway! Further, it is not slippery at all. Our new walkway has such an amazing "Wow" factor. Even our Fed-Ex delivery-man commented, "Great job on the new walkway!" <br />"

"The interaction with "Jim" was excellent for the initial estimate. There was good follow up. Good communication throughout. They coordinated the installation to fit my schedule. The work was done with great precision and neatly. There was little evidence that they had disturbed any plants or shrubs in doing the exterior finish work. All old windows were removed. The staff reviewed the method to service the windows."

"He came out, he was excellent. I felt it was very fair and he did an excellent job. I was very surprised at how good it was, it really was very, very good. He also did some other work for me while he was there. I had a beam that was split, so he put a sister joint in it and I was very, very pleased with that. It supported the room above it.  <br /> <br /> I didn?t know whether he did that type of work or not. I didn?t know if he whether he did just drywall, plastering or what not, but he also did that for me. I thought the price was very fair for that too. I don?t remember what I paid off hand, but it was very fair. It was in my cellar, but he treated it like he was doing my living room. He was so careful with everything he did. I was very impressed.  <br /> <br />"

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Stanhope, NJ

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
