"Carlos and the crew he had were incredibly professional and talented with their craft. We had some brand-new blinds put up throughout our two-story house in no time at all. They had installed two new storm-doors on our patio after the last two started sagging and falling apart due to a lack of cross-bracing as they described. Would definitely be keeping in contact for future projects."

"From providing an estimate to doing the work and finishing the job, Kenny was very courteous and professional. He showed up on time to do the estimate, thoroughly inspected areas requiring repair, and explained what needed to be done. He said he would call the next evening, and he did, to say he didn't have all the numbers yet and would call again the next day. This was very considerate; most contractors simply wouldn't call at all till the next day. His estimate compared favorably with others and he was able to do all the repairs I asked for, whereas the others could only do parts of them. <br /> <br /> He showed up on time with 2 helpers and they got right to work. The biggest job was stretching the carpet in 3 bedrooms and a hallway. It was really out of shape and looked awful. The effort often required 2 people and sometimes 3, but they worked well as a team whenever it was needed. This was a challenging job that took most of the day and required cutting off 2-3 inches of extra carpet in spots. The end result was amazing - the carpet looked almost new again! It wasn't perfect, but the small wrinkles left in 2 or 3 places were minor and hardly noticeable. I was very pleased with this result; it was better than I expected, given the age (11 years) and poor condition of the carpet. <br /> <br /> In all, everything was completed in a prompt, courteous, friendly manner, they did not make or leave a mess, were careful when moving my furniture around, and did a couple of small extra things they noticed at no additional cost. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the doggie door - it was fixed but didn't look as good as I would have liked. But I decided to live with it because I just wanted it done. Kenny is honest and up-front and I felt I could trust what he told me. Would definitely recommend him to others."

"Excellent customer service. I had significant buildup on my roof, and they cleared it all away. My roof is shaped so that there are some difficult nooks and crannies to access, but they got it all."

"Went great! Team was very friendly, and very conscientious or protecting our property. Very good work. Since it was work done over the winter, weather played a lot in the exterior work and there were some delays in scheduling, but you can't fight Mother Nature. The shed was fairly new and the painter pointed out some siding that was delaminating that I hadn't noticed. I contacted the shed manufacturer and they made arrangements to come replace that siding. Since it was going to be delayed, the painters painted it anyway and returned later after the repairs were made to repaint the new siding and touch up some other areas. Highly recommended!"

"They told me in January that they would show me samples of the molding but I still haven't seen anything after several promises. Was originally quoted $800, but because the wood needed to be maple, it went up to $1301.  I spoke with them on 2/23 and they said it would be ordered the following day.  I called twice today to determine what was going on and they said the materials weren't ordered until March 11 and wouldn't be in until 3/27. The salesman, Kevin Anderson, has also not returned a couple of phone calls that I've made during the process.  Received a call from Larry asking them to proceed with the work and after a long conversation, agreed to take the $205 Investigative fee off.  On another call from Dan, he informed me the materials would not be available until April 2 or 3.  This would make almost 3 months since they first came to my home Jan. 9.  Was informed Friday they would do the work Monday, April 6.  Received a phone call that morning stating they wouldn't be picking up the materials until that afternoon.  They called today (April 6 at 8:30) saying they would be there about 10:00 they arrived about 10:30.  The work was done and it is a great improvement over the crown molding and looks very nice.  They only took $50 off the total price.  I was just happy to have it finally completed."

"My handyman had my old screens rescreened by Screen Makers but didn't tell them that I had cats. These screens were easy for the animals to push out of the tracks due to a too small spline (?). Also, the screens were coming out f the frames at the top. There is a division of opinion regarding whether the cats were climbing the screens and that was the cause. <br /> When Screen Makers were contacted about my displeasure with the screens (which were less than two years old and had been very expensive, in spite of the fact that new screening was put into the old frames), Gabe came out promptly, gave me a very good estimate for totally new screens (especially compared to what the handyman had charged me) and didn't charge for labor. He said they would be ready in 10 days and would not pull out of the new frames.  <br /> Gabe arrived to change out the screens exactly when he said he would, worked hard and completed putting up the new screens in several hours (there are more than  a dozen screens on my porch; they are about eight feet tall and several feet wide). He charged exactly the amount of the estimate. Gabe is friendly and professional. All in all, I couldn't have had a better experience (unless I had know about his company and gone directly to him the first time!) <br />"

FAQs for door or window screens install or repair projects in Suffolk, VA

Most off-the-shelf screens come in fixed sizes, ranging from 18 inches by 20 inches to 36 inches by 74 inches, which fit the vast majority of residential windows. If your opening falls outside that range or has a unique shape, you’ll need a custom screen built to the exact measurements. Going custom ensures a secure fit, a solid barrier against bugs, and a clean, finished look.

The decision to repair or replace your screen depends on the extent of the damage. Small holes or tears in otherwise solid mesh can be patched, and a sturdy frame usually doesn’t need to go anywhere. However, once the frame is bent or the mesh is brittle and fraying in several spots, replacement becomes a more sensible option—and often proves to be less costly in the long run. Take a close look at both parts before making a decision.

To rescreen a window, start by prying out the old spline, then lift the torn mesh from the frame. Lay the new screen over the frame, allowing about an inch of excess on all sides, and hold it in place while pressing fresh spline into the groove with a roller. Check that the mesh is taut—many pros rest a small brick on it while they work—then trim the overhang with a utility knife.

Most window screens last for 10 to 12 years. Time, sun, and weather gradually make the mesh brittle, so you’ll start to see sagging, rips, or thinning spots that let bugs get through. Check the screens each season; if the mesh crumbles or the frame warps, it’s time to replace them to keep air flowing and pests outside.

Most pros can swap out a screen in 10 minutes to an hour. A quick pop‑in replacement goes fastest, while fitting new mesh into an existing frame or working on a hard‑to‑reach upper window adds time. Either way, plan for at least a few extra minutes per screen so the installer can verify the fit and ensure the spline is seated correctly.
