"We have used them for a couple of projects. One was a table that had been damaged by water in a fire. Table and 6 chairs. They came out great! We also just had a table that belonged to my husband's grandmother. It also looks beautiful! If you have wood furniture that you need to have repaired and/or refinished he does a great job! Also his prices are very reasonable."

"Second Time Around repaired the arm on the settee so that, unless you knew it had been broken, you would never notice the repair. They repaired the chair seat and gave the chair an all over tightening up because it was near collapse. The repairs were completed before the promised date for a bit under the estimate. The gentleman I worked with was pleasant and explained the repairs to me when he gave me the estimate and showed me the repairs before I paid. They had some pieces in the shop awaiting pick up that they had refinished. The quality was beautiful and meticulous. I highly recommend Second Time Around."

"Our son broke his father's game room chair horseplaying and I freaked. I found furniture fix on Angies list which is near my home..I took the broken chair there and was given a quote..I liked the quote and the friendly nature of all there and decided to leave the chair for repair. I was called a little over a week later that my chair was ready. I was amazed at the wonderful job they did in repairing the chair and restoring peace in my home:) Thank you furniture fix!"

"I was prepared to have them do the work, but then I found a company much closer to home, so the pickup and delivery charges were much lower. When I explained to the people at Frost, they were very professional and even assured me that the methods used at this other company are "best practices," so my furniture would be in good hands. Although I didn't have Frost do the work, based on their professionalism and generous attitude, I recommend them."

"<p>Our 12-year old Natuzzi furniture is still solid and comfortable.    We had pet scratches all over the loveseats in particular, and were trying to decide whether to purchase brand new, or have existing furniture repaired.    After shopping at numerous furniture showrooms, we decided to try for the repair.   </p> <p>We contacted Mr. Worley in early March to get an estimate.   He came to our home to evaluate the damage.   He said he would call us with an estimate.    The estimate took about two weeks to get .... He then came out again, and took a cutting from the deep red leath4er chair bottom to get a good color match.   He left, and said he would call when he would be ready to take the furniture for repair.   </p> <p>After another several weeks, he told us he would be able to take a loveseat or the chair.    We loaded our chair and ottoman, drove it to his home, and left it there.   After a week or so, he let us know we could pick up the chair and bring another piece.  We loaded up a loveseat and delivered it, picking up the chair and ottoman.   A week or so later, we again delivered a loveseat, and picked up the repaired one.   </p> <p>He did a super job.   The furniture looks like brand new!   The turnaround time is our only complaint.  He originally quoted it would be five weeks till he could start our job, but he was not able to start until very late in April.  We thought he would take all the pieces at once and keep them for about a week or so, but he was only able to take each one separately.   We delivered the furniture and picked it up, but it did take much longer to get it back.   </p> <p>The work is very high quality, and we would give Mr. Worley an A+, if he had communicated the actual turnaround time a little better for us.    If you want a very high quality, and are in NO RUSH, this is the place for you.   And even though I didn't like waiting so long, I would DEFINITELY use Mr. Worley again, and highly recommend him.  Just don't be in a rush.</p>"

"I took in two chairs for estimates. One was a vintage aluminum with one <br /> rug and floor protector missing. He said it was too old to be replaced. I <br /> believe it. The leg was hollow and if it wasn't something original, I <br /> doubted it could be found too. The other was a glue and stabilize job. <br /> He said 45.00. I thought that was high, so I'll try it myself someday. <br /> That chair wasn't that important, but if it was, I would let him do it. I <br /> also got a verbal unseen estimate on refinishing a large Haywood <br /> Wakefield Credenza that had been stained dark brown. Est, without seeing <br /> was 575. I thought that was high but someone else without seeing it est <br /> 1000.00. So I think that he is reasonable in the refinishing category, <br /> but that this type of thing is always expensive. Depending on how badly I <br /> want to get those done, I would use him. <br />"

FAQs for furniture refinish projects in Trafalgar, IN

A complete table refinishing project requires between four and eight days from start to finish. The actual hands-on work takes between two and 10 hours, with the remaining time dedicated to drying periods between applications. The stripping and sanding phases demand the most active labor, while applying finishes requires patience as each layer dries completely before proceeding.

Several elements influence dining table refinishing costs, with size being the primary factor. Larger tables or those with extensions require more materials and labor time. The wood type matters significantly—hardwoods may need specialized treatment compared to softer woods. The table's current condition also impacts pricing, as damaged surfaces need repairs before refinishing can begin.

Refinishing often proves more economical than purchasing a comparable quality replacement. Professional table refinishing costs between $150 and $400 on average, while preserving the original craftsmanship and character of your piece.

This approach makes particular sense for well-constructed wood furniture that would be expensive to replace with similar quality. For sentimental pieces or antiques, refinishing also maintains their history and personal value.

Professional furniture refinishers charge between $40 and $100 per hour for their services. This rate varies based on geographic location, the refinisher's experience level, and the complexity of the project. Some professionals offer project-based pricing rather than hourly rates, especially for standard-sized pieces like coffee tables or end tables. When requesting quotes, ask whether the estimate includes materials or represents labor costs only.

For tables with minor wear, you can sometimes refresh the appearance without complete stripping and sanding. Using gel stains and wipe-on finishes can address surface issues while preserving the existing finish underneath. This approach works best for tables with light cosmetic damage rather than those with deep scratches or damaged finishes. However, proper stripping and sanding remain necessary for comprehensive restoration or significant color changes for professional-quality results.
