"Our water pipes got broke by the contractor hired by Columbia Gas to do work on our house. Danny Norman and Nate Thompson came out and did an outstanding job fixing our water pipes and explaining the process as they went through it. I would definitely have them come back out and work on my house again. Thank you very much for your hard work."

"Last Monday, we called the Gas company because of a weird smell. They came right out and said we had a corroded pipe leaving the meter into the house. They shut off and padlocked the meter and said we needed a contractor to replace the pipe(s). Robin gave us a verbal estimate and came right out. He replaced the pipes and got the permit for us, called for the inspection and got everything back in order quickly. We would highly recommend him and his technicians."

"I first contracted the A1 Plumbing, they came out, diagnosed the problem and fixed it. After they left the gauge turned to zero so I had to call them back but they told me that I had to pay them again to replace the old pipes. I called Robin to do the job and it took him 15 minutes to diagnose and fix the problem. He was really good, he got everything working in record time. The inspector came out there was another problem made by the A1 plumbing so I had to call Robin again to fix it. Robin knows the business and he's a really good guy."

"It was Christmas day and water began pouring through a light fixture on the first floor. I turned off the water immediately. I had a full house of guests and no water. The next day, I was contacted by several Angie's list vendors. I chose Russell's Heating & Air Conditioning because they could arrive sooner than anyone else and waived the trip fee. Other vendors were going to charge $90 or higher just to come to the house. Jason arrived at the house and immediately started working to find the problem. He had to cut into the ceiling first and then a wall on the second floor, but found the leak. The builder had put a screw through a pipe in the bathroom while putting up the sheet rock. He repaired the pipe and cleaned up his mess. I turned the water back on and we were good to go. The cost was $72.95 to find the leak and $143.04 to repair it for a total of $215.99. To me Jason saved Christmas!"

"He was courteous, and compassionate. He located the pipe that was leaking, and replaced the pipe. He even installed me a access panel, which will definitely come in handy. His price was definitely affordable and his professionalism was truly "Awesome"."

FAQs for gas piping projects in Virginia Beach, VA

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
