"This was a remodeling job. Ed finished 800 sq ft of basement. Framed walls, drywall, insulation, electrical outlets, suspended ceiling, lights, installed doors. (Flooring was done by a company he recommended.) He impressed me by carefully listening to what I wanted and provided valuable advice throughout the design and execution of the work. He started work promptly and skillfully coordinated the work of his employees and subcontractors so that there was very little downtime. Workers were very competent, friendly, and respectful to us, the homeowners. I highly recommend him for any type of remodeling or new construction project and would use him exclusively in the future. I want to recognize him for his quality work, competence, helpfulness, honesty and integrity."

"Jim knows what he is doing and is very resourceful/creative at solving difficult problems.  He has been updating my 45 year old home since last summer.  If you expect a rigid 9a - 5p schedule, that may be difficult due to his purchasing of supplies, crew scheduling, and so on, but he will be there and do what needs to be done to get the job completed well.  Jim does not have a problem with fix-it/touch-up issues which may arise after the big job is done.  I recommend Jim highly and have other future projects, which he will be doing  as well.  In addition, Jim has replaced a outdoor basement window-well, custom built shelving/garden station in the garage, power washed the house exterior . . . the list is long!

"I called a few places for quotes. The first person to get back to me was Eric from Vangoye Home Improvement. It turned out that I was outside of their service area, but Eric took the time to listen to what my problem was. He then gave me the names of the products I needed and the steps I could take to fix it myself, as the problem wasn't as big or difficult as I originally thought. Not only will I be able to knock out this project in a weekend, it ended up saving me close to $300."

"Dan Molnar tested me shortly after I messaged through Angie's list. Very courteous. Within a few days i had a quote that was better than I had expected. A little over 4 weeks later and everything is done and to a level of quality that honestly exceeded my expectations. The crew who did the concrete were polite and professional, the slab is smooth (they apologized for it not being better- the weather wasn't great but it looks perfect to me) and they cleaned up everything- including excess concrete piles. Their carpenter built custom doors for the previously unfinished and irregular entrance and they are of very good quality down to the hardware. I have dealt with many contractors before and without exaggeration this is the best company I have ever dealt with. I recommend them highly."

"I found him through Angies's List when he was with another company.  He's now on his own.  I am elderly, and I have him on a retainer.  He does everything from taking me to the store, to fixing my TV.  He recently repaired an out door fountain, and put out the hoses for the summer.  He is a very good painter.  There isn't anything I don't like about him, except I wish he wasn't so busy.  He's a very intelligent, and a personable person. He's easy to work with, and pleasant to have around.  I pay him $30 per hour. Some others pay $40 per hour depending on the job. Most of his customers are charged by the job.  He has 5 kids, so sometimes he needs to pick up, drop off etc. He doesn't arrive too early or stay too late. His pricing is good, and the quality of his work is excellent.  Call him up, and have him come over for an estimate!"

"We obtained bids from 3 companies for the work needing to be done in our home - one company didn't even measure the rooms or take any notes on what we wanted done and they were the most expensive estimate, the second company was less expensive but the owner wasn't going to do 2 coats and kept telling us that we could "add on" if needed once the work was being done - so we figured we were going to be "nickeled and dimed", the third company was Premier Professional Painting - which we were really impressed with.
It was very nice working with Steve and his employees.  When we inquired about an estimate Steve was very thorough in explaining what was involved in their painting process (sanding down walls, fixing imperfections, taping, moving of furniture, covering up floor/furniture, etc..) as well as what type of products they would be using.  Since we wanted to keep the expense to $3500 he was willing to work with us on how to accomplish the most work for our money.  We had a couple of the bathrooms that needed repair where the towel racks were, the master bathroom and master bedroom that had imperfections at the top of the walls due to previous owner's obsession with wallpaper border and it not being removed correctly....  They did a wonderful job making all of the walls look new again.  Aaron (one of his employees) did a major portion of the work at our home - he was very polite, courteous and professional.  Since Steve appears to be somewhat of a perfectionist and takes pride in his work - he even filled in ceiling trim work in our dining room so it would look right, at no additional cost to us.  I would definitely recommend them to others.

"Windows were ordered but took a little longer than estimated to arrive.  Then they were short one window.   Installed the others in two visits and installed the final window when it arrived.  Aside from the fact that there were some minor winter weather related delays,  it was good.  The installer was excellent, friendly as well as efficient.  Courteous to family members and considerate about the potential heat loss from the window being removed.  I was impressed with how extremely accurate the measurements were to fit the windows.   The delay in finishing all the windows because of the order error played to our personal advantage.  We were able to make the pmt from our savings on the balance due.  The house is much warmer and quieter.  Wish we had done this years ago.
The only less than good item was staying in contact with the company/contractor.  I accidentally deleted the contractor's phone number, so I ended up sending 3 emails to their web site before they responded and he called back over a week later.  Then I had to email them again asking when they wanted their final pmt.  It was still 2 weeks before he picked it up.   Not sure why they didn't want it mailed.  We didn't make the final pmt till almost a month after the completion.  It didn't effect me but seemed peculiar.

"Ben, Owen and Ben's subcontractors worked to put a beautiful addition on the back of our home.  Ben is one of the most hard working people I know in this business.  I'm pretty sure that he barely sleeps!
He was extremely attentive and present during our entire project which started in September and finished in December.  His network of subcontractors and the people he recommends is also very strong.  Working on a project of this magnitude requires a lot of work for both parties.  We had to work closely to make decisions, order items and keep things moving forward.
Ben is very friendly and takes time to understand the people and how the space will be used.  He thinks with both sides of his brain - a great balance of creative, functional, and buildable.  He has great attention to detail and matched the aesthetic of our existing home structure.  His workmanship is high quality and we feel great about the solid, warm, and quiet room we added on.
Highly recommended!

FAQs for major home repair (general contractor) projects in Watervliet, MI

In many cases, it’s much less expensive to convert a bus than to buy an RV, especially if you’re considering a newer RV model, which can exceed $100,000.

Another huge benefit of school bus conversion is that you are in control of the renovation project. You get to pick your camper's new layout and all the appliances and furniture.

While school buses can easily cost $300,000 when they're new, you can often find used buses for just a few thousand dollars. These vehicles experience extreme depreciation due to government regulations; they can only be used for so long before they must be replaced. Due to those same regulations, other government agencies cannot purchase them for their own uses, so the consumer market is the only place they can go.

The length of time it takes to convert a bus depends on the scope of the project (and size of the bus), how much work is DIY vs. done by a professional contractor, and how much work you’re doing up front.

In general, expect at least a couple of months for a conversion, but larger conversions could take six months to a year. Remember: You can tackle projects as you go: Get the basic work done so that it’s livable, and then continue to enhance your living space over time.
