"Highly recommend Brayton and his team. Attention to detail is second to none. I normally do not hire anyone and do projects myself but decided to give these polite young gentleman a shot. Boy am I happy I did. Deck came out amazing. Neighbors are jealous. Extremely impressive and they left the job site cleaner than when they arrived. Already have several project in mind for them to tackle once their schedule frees up a bit."

"After receiving the report from a structural engineer, I began interviewing contractors to do the recommended repairs. The more contractors I interviewed the more questions and confusion I had. Who understood the core issues, could explain them to me, could push back against the structural engineer for clarifying data? Who could I trust? I turned to a trusted contractor who'd worked on a neighbor's house. He volunteered to review the proposals I'd received. (The repairs I needed were not in his line of work.) None of the proposals had the detail he'd expect. He recommended Andrew Roby Contractors. <br /> <br />My first call was a day or two before Christmas and I got a prompt response. Although away for the holiday, the representative worked with my deadline (and I with his vacation) and we scheduled an appointment for later that week. Throughout the project, I worked with with project manager Drew Devine. New in his career, Drew was professional, polite, articulate, motivated, attentive, thorough and persevering. He honored my many questions and sought answers. Still learning, he asked if he could bring a construction veteran to look at the house and consult. Ron joined him on a visit. His experience and unhurried ease put me at ease. Ron explained what could be explained and acknowledged what couldn't. With a careful choice of words he confirmed my concerns about the structural engineer's work. Ron's professionalism in acknowledging seemingly unprofessional behavior told me I was dealing with someone ethical. That spoke volumes. <br /> <br />The icing on the cake came a day or so later. At Drew's recommendation I called a different structural engineer, Marcel Papineau, to talk about having his company create working drawings. Marcel asked who had come to the house and what the issues were. I told him I was working with Drew Devine and he'd brought a seasoned construction guy named Ron to look over his shoulder. Marcel sounded puzzled, paused, then explained, "Joan, do you know who Ron is? He's president of the company." I like that neither Drew nor Ron traded on Ron's status but rather focused on his experience, which was what was needed. I like that Ron supported Drew as the lead in the contracting relationship. That's leadership. <br /> <br />Looking back, I realize how taxing I must have been with my ongoing questions and time-consuming interest in details. Yet Drew and his colleagues were unfailingly respectful and patient. Andrew Roby Co. is not inexpensive. The way I see it, I paid extra for fine construction results and pro-active communication in the process. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />"

"<p>Josh did a great job against all the surprises he found as he started demolishing the damaged flooring, shower etc. He even found that the plumbing underneath the home was reverse graded (we always had problems with that).</p> <p>He went out of his way to keep us informed because we could not be present at all times.</p> <p>Completely trustworthy to leave without having to be concerned if he will do it right.</p> <br />"

"I think they did a wonderful job. I told them in the summer I had to have the kitchen done by Christmas and it was. Randy the owner has a good relationship the city and the codes inspectors which was good to have in getting approval to gut the garage. John the son is the foreman on the job everyday but you can call the dad anytime and he'll come right over if you want him to sit down and talk. Everything is done with high quality materials. We have encountered no problems. Everyone on the job is highly skilled. Our home was built in 1940 and they were able to renovate it to look like it was all original to the home, not bits and pieces added on."

"Great! Ricky was very helpful. Very courteous and very open to our needs. His crews were professional. They did their work meticulously and cleaned up after themselves. They were on time and showed concern for our convenience and need. I was very satisfied and pleased with the work they did and the quality of the materials and workmanship."

"When making the appointments I was always clear that I wanted the out of place shingle addressed and confirmed I would not need to be home for the visit. Scheduling got rained off 3 times (nothing they could do about that), but I had to follow up with them to reschedule. The last time I called to reschedule, I was told that the service had been completed and the result was “no shingles were out of place & they could not get access to the rear of the property, as it was fenced.” That's it! I eventually talked with the technician responsible for the visit who informed me: 1. He did not actually visit but sent someone else 2. They will not open a gate as they are concerned about dogs and liabilities (really…. & the gate was open that day)! 3. He was unaware this was an angieslist tune up and when he realized that, he stated the roof was too steep to qualify and that's why they did not go on the roof The difficulties scheduling, level of communication and the technician’s story did not make me feel comfortable continuing to work with them and we agreed they would refund the “deal”. The management team was then very responsive and professional and the deal was refunded immediately. I am now getting another angieslist contractor to look and quote for the repair. I did not believe the claim that my roof is too steep to qualify for the deal. It does not look anything special, it is the same as all the others in our neighborhood and contractors have walked on mine and neighbors before. BUT from accurate measurement in the attic, I confirmed it is an 8-12 roof which does not qualify for any roof deals on angieslist. Before purchasing any roof tune up deal, I would recommend members go into their attic and measure the rise for a horizontal run to confirm their roof is within deal specifications (6 inches rise for 12 inches of horizontal travel)."

"John Marino, the owner asked me to send pictures of existing cabinets. I emailed them and met him at their showroom in Charlotte where he explained to me and my spouse how the refacing process would work. We chose the wood that we wanted for our kitchen and he promptly provided me with an estimate, which I accepted. In a few days, Dominic from the cabinet company came home and took measurements for custom making the cabinets. He was quite confident in his work and presented us a couple of good options for cabinet pullouts that we were initially unaware of. The cabinets arrived a month after the measurements and Dominic installed it over a few days. Dominic arrived on time every day, paid great attention to detail, keeping the noise and dust under check. The quality of installation exceeded my expectations. Overall Great job! I am glad that I chose Carolina Cabinets Reface for my kitchen remodel. I will be posting some pics shortly."

FAQs for major home repair (general contractor) projects in West Jefferson, NC

In many cases, it’s much less expensive to convert a bus than to buy an RV, especially if you’re considering a newer RV model, which can exceed $100,000.

Another huge benefit of school bus conversion is that you are in control of the renovation project. You get to pick your camper's new layout and all the appliances and furniture.

While school buses can easily cost $300,000 when they're new, you can often find used buses for just a few thousand dollars. These vehicles experience extreme depreciation due to government regulations; they can only be used for so long before they must be replaced. Due to those same regulations, other government agencies cannot purchase them for their own uses, so the consumer market is the only place they can go.

The length of time it takes to convert a bus depends on the scope of the project (and size of the bus), how much work is DIY vs. done by a professional contractor, and how much work you’re doing up front.

In general, expect at least a couple of months for a conversion, but larger conversions could take six months to a year. Remember: You can tackle projects as you go: Get the basic work done so that it’s livable, and then continue to enhance your living space over time.
