"Everyone was so great to work with. Robert was honest and very knowledgeable in the quoting process. I had an issue with water in my basement that prevented the pump from being installed while Nashville had record rainfall, but Fernando was very nice and patient to help make sure my basement and yard did not flood while Nashville dried up."

"My technicians Tim, Nick and Preston were very professional and very patient with my home. They had a difficult install due to my home being on straight rock. That did not change their tenacity or professionalism. They worked and worked until the job was done. Thank you AFS!!!"

"I’m extremely happy with the work they did on my basement! The team was professional, punctual, and clearly knew what they were doing. They installed a tile drain system and handled all the concrete work with great attention to detail. Everything looks solid and clean, and the water issues I had before are completely gone. They kept the workspace tidy, communicated every step of the way, and made sure I was satisfied with the results. I’d definitely recommend them to anyone needing basement or drainage work done right!"

"You want to hire Byron at Absolute. Here's why: Absolute Waterproofing and Drainage Services isn't as inexpensive as some drainage competitors, for a reason. Their goal is to make sure the end result will work properly for as many years as possible. Byron, Absolute's founder and owner, has decades of experience to draw from and a passion to far exceed his customers' expectations on every job. His proposal was significantly different from a competing proposal by LA Scapes, which was really more of a landscaping company. They could have done something for 2/3 the cost, but it wouldn't have solved my problem because they failed to identify where the water was actually coming from. (More on that later; there was a different ditch near the road that was washed out / filled in with debris, and was not functioning, offloading all the water from the street across my yard and into the corner of my basement.) Byron's system is simple and well-thought out. It is just a "swale" or a shallow bowl-like ditch that pulls water past my house, down to the drainage creek at the back of my lot. Some of the added fill dirt required a well around my basement window. Since he only needed a small amount of fill there, Byron did it with landscaping bricks and a waterproof plastic shield. He diverted around an existing tree, which we will later remove and fill in as budget allows (only because the tree is way too close to my foundation). Routing around the tree will ensure that even when cut down, the water stays away from my house. Rather than that basic design, the LA Scapes proposal was to put a much more severe ditch on the edge of my property to catch the rain from the neighbor's hill, with the option to create a more shallow ditch near the house if that still wasn't enough. Turns out that plan wouldn't have worked because of the other washed out ditch; all that water would still have ended up hitting the corner of my house, completely bypassing the proposed system. Byron didn't notice the washed out / filled in ditch near the road when he did his initial proposal, but when he was at my house doing the work he had his crew clean out that ditch just as an extra service to me at no charge, and discovered the problem. I don't think any other Nashville company would have bothered sprucing that area up, since it wasn't specified in the contract. Not only that, but then he had his employees re-dig the failed section of my existing ditch and give it the same grass seed and protective netting as the rest of the project--again at no extra cost. That solved the root cause of my drainage problem. Combined with the new swale down the side of my house, now we are certain the water will flow the right way. I'm so happy I hired him! Still going the extra mile, Byron had his crew clean off my roof and gutters, add a short section of retaining wall to protect my deck stairs, and dig out under my deck stairs to expose an existing cement drainage sluice so any water from the deck will flow appropriately out into the back lawn--again at no additional charge. I paid $3500 for this drainage job for a reason. The value is there! When I met with Byron, I had a clear impression that Absolute was the right company to hire; and he proved me right. If I had hired the other company--no disrespect to them, but they wouldn't have known how to handle the situation and I would have just been upset later. Absolute only does basement waterproofing and drainage, and Byron's experience is so great that he can handle any oddball issues that come up. The day they completed my job, Byron explained to me that he's observed how water stays together as it flows, by watching the flow of water that was over his rock levee at the back of his own property during the 2010 Nashville floods. Even though the water was four to six inches higher than his wall, it was staying in the drainage system rather than flowing into his yard because it was flowing swiftly without resistance, sticking together cohesively as a focused stream. Byron has learned how use earth and stone to guide water into a smooth movement; I see that evident in the shape of the drainage system in my yard. I would have just dug a straight line ditch, but his drainage system uses a gentle 'S' curve that looks like something you would see in nature. It makes sense to the eye; you can envision how the water will move down it gently and swiftly, without eroding anything. The swale has a life to it. Everything about Absolute was top-notch. Scheduling was easy; Teresa in their office is very easy to work with. All the paperwork was straightforward, and every promise was kept. The workers were on time and did fantastic work. Byron was on site both days to supervise and make sure he liked what he saw, and he has high standards. I'm very happy to recommend Absolute Waterproofing and Drainage. If you're going to spend a lot of money to protect your home, you want to do it once--the right way. I'm very thankful to have found Byron and his crew."

"Jamison and Matt were great to work with. They were generous with their time in coming out and talking through what I needed to do to repair the gutters on my house and fix our drainage issues. Matt was very knowledgeable about drainage issues. They quoted me the best price among other bidders and explained the benefits of repairing my gutters vs the benefits of replacing them. Jamison knows his stuff when it comes to gutters and the different guard systems out there. I went with the repair option and saved a fair amount of money. It did take a few weeks for us to get the workers out here to do the work, but when they did make out here, they were polite, professional, and did great work and got it all done in a day. I'd happily work with Monster Home Services again."

"We called on a Saturday and left two messages on what seemed to be their emergency response line, no callback. We had used them before for a large job just a month ago so I had one of their plumbers' numbers, texted him and never got a reply. Finally on Monday I got a response - if this had been a larger leak I would have stopped right here and called a more responsive plumber. We were contacted on Monday and they said they could come out that afternoon, I met them at my house within the contact window and got several notices they were coming via email and phone call. They were prompt and responsive once we got them on the job. Two plumbers came out; the lead plumber said he could replace the valve, but then said that they really should replace both hot and cold valves since they both were old. He gave me two quotes, one where he replaced just the leaky valve and the faucet install and it was somewhere around $325(!) - the second where he did both and the faucet for $275. Both of these were more than I wanted to spend and I was pretty confident about my ability to replace the faucet, so I said specifically "I want you to only replace the hot water valve, nothing else". According to the itemization on the receipt, this should have been around $160 or so. They go get parts and get to work on it, but then after a little while they ask me about re-using the faucet, if they could damage it to get it off. I was definitely confused and alarmed at this point, they were supposed to just be replacing one valve - I come into the kitchen and they had started pulling out the old faucet and already pulled off the old lines that came up from the valves and effectively damaged it to the point that we had to proceed with the new faucet. I was upset about this and they offered to discount the total price by $50 to compensate for the misunderstanding if we proceeded with the faucet replacement; apparently he had thought I was going with their first quote. He went ahead and put in the new faucet and new lines up to it from the valves, and replaced just the one broken valve. I was glad to have the new lines put in as they were more secure and the work was done neatly. I did have the wrong faucet type (no sprayer). and had to go back myself and swap that out after they left, but that was my fault for purchasing the wrong type - a warning would have been nice, but they did what I asked and I can't fault that. Overall, I was put off by the "upsell" nature of the call - it felt like they were adding work to bump up the price and I have already spent nearly $4000 with them replacing pipes this year, so that felt like they were trying to just milk me. And while I think it was a mistake and the guy really just didn't hear what I said, I ended up ultimately paying for work I didn't really want done - it was discounted enough that I wasn't too upset though. Michael's has never been the cheapest option but they do good work, so I didn't mind getting my major pipes replaced through them. I don't think I will call them for smaller service issues again though, and it seems I can't rely on weekend service from them in an emergency."

"They took a very difficult job of cutting through concrete block, concrete fill and rebar to install a ventilation fan in my basement. Originally they thought it was simply a concrete block, but did not complain when they discovered the block was filled. The agreed to work on a Sunday afternoon, Arrived on time and did a thoroughly professional job. The fee was more than fair and I highly recommend them and will certainly use them in the future!!

FAQs for basement drainage channels installation projects in White House, TN

Expect a well-built French drain to last 30 to 40 years. By channeling both surface- and ground-water away from your foundation, the system relieves hydrostatic pressure and helps prevent costly structural damage. Choose a pipe with a quality cloth filter to keep sediment out and extend the drain’s life. A quick annual inspection and routine cleanouts will keep water flowing freely, ensuring the system continues to protect your home for years to come.

Most French drains sit two feet below grade, but depth ultimately depends on the problem you’re solving. For puddling rainwater or snowmelt, a shallow curtain drain at lawn level often does the trick. To handle rising groundwater, pros dig deeper, down to the footing, and run the pipe beneath the basement slab. A drainage contractor will determine the optimal depth for your specific soil conditions and water issues.

A properly installed interior French drain captures water at the slab, channels it to a sump pit, and directs it safely outside, preventing basement floods before they occur. Because the pipe sits just under the floor edge, a plumber can reach it easily for cleaning or repairs. Pairing the drain with a reliable sump pump gives you the best long-term protection.

Hire a contractor who installs drainage systems every day—typically a foundation specialist, drainage contractor, experienced landscaper, or plumber with waterproofing experience. These pros understand slope, soil, and local codes, and they have the equipment to trench safely around utilities. Ask for references and photos of recent jobs to be sure they can design a system that keeps water off your foundation for decades.

Once the drain is in, patch the yard by reseeding bare spots or replacing plants the crew removed. Inside, look for ways to add value—finishing the basement or upgrading interior waterproofing while the space is open often costs less now than later. Schedule a quick annual checkup to flush sediment and confirm the pipe and sump pump are clear. Consistent maintenance ensures the drain functions properly and protects your investment.

Most policies don’t cover the cost of repairing a French drain itself, but they may provide coverage for water damage if the system fails. Coverage varies by insurer, so be sure to read the fine print or contact your agent before any issues arise. If you live in a high-risk flood zone, consider a separate flood policy to close the gap. Knowing your coverage in advance helps you budget for repairs and avoid unexpected costs.
