"I called for service late this morning and the job was done before 4PM. One of my garage door cables broke on Christmas Eve. I called late this morning and within an hour Ken had called me back to make arrangements to come and see what I needed. He got here on time and proceeded to inspect my situation. I asked about my over 27 year old doors and openers and he said they were fine and recommended that I did not need new doors or openers. After testing and inspection he replaced all four springs, pulleys, cables and roller wheels. (I know I needed new springs and rollers as they were obviously worn and I had already replaced my springs about 10 years ago after two had snapped causing some damage to my walls when they did.) He then tested and adjusted the doors until they operated like new. He used upgraded rollers so I don't have to lubricate them. Both doors operate better and are quieter than before the cable broke. I think they are operating as good if not better than when they were new. He also noticed one of my hinges was oxidized and replaced that too before it broke. He gave me an extra hinge in case any ever break as that can seriously damage the door. Ken is very personable, professional, and knowledgeable. He worked very quickly and efficiently and explained everything to me as he worked. My doors and openers are over 27 years old and I could have been easily convinced to get new openers and new doors. By being honest and forthright he saved me several thousand dollars on items I did not need. I couldn't be happier with the service and work he provided. I will definitely use him again if the need arises. I highly recommend him. A top notch service provider."

"Very satisfied with the quality of the doors and installation. The lead time was originally "three weeks" which morphed into eight weeks- although I wasn't told, I'm guessing late fall could be the busy time for folks to upgrade garage doors- prior to winter."

"We have high praise for JYJR Contracting, LLC  We have previously hired Joe Yostto do many things in and around our home, including repointing exterior bricks, fixing a roof, replacing a sump pump backup battery, and removing glass doors in our child's bathtub.  The most recent time we hired him, it was to spackle and paint water damage in our bedroom, spackle and paint small marks in our child's bedroom, paint over water damage in our living room ceiling, caulk the kitchen counter top, and to install weather stripping and paint on the garage door.  As always, all the work was performed quickly and to our satisfaction.  I recommend JYJR to all my friends and family.

"The work was done and appears to be OK.  I guess the price was alright.

There were some "down" sides.  First, they sent someone out to survey the original damage to the roof and he didn't bring a ladder.  He had to go get one so we waited around.  I don't know why someone assessing damage to a roof wouldn't bring a good ladder.

I asked them to take photos of the damage to the roof for the insurance.  The photos they took were from the ground and were poor.  I took better ones myself from the street by zooming in.

It was extremely difficult to reach anyone from the company.  I tried emails and phone calls.  They finally showed up on a day when I was at work and didn't tell me.  I realize that sometimes plans change due to weather but they could have kept me updated.

The cost was higher than the original quote because the roof was steeper than they thought and they had to bring in another person.  I would think an experienced roofer would be able to figure that out right off the bat.  But they got the roofing job done.

I had also discussed with them replacing some shutters and a topper to a window.  I think they forgot about me.  I had to contact them many many times over.  I guess it was just too small a job to deal with.  I finally emailed them and asked them to please let me know what their plans were because if they already ordered the shutters, I didn't want them to be stuck with them.  But - - I told them, I was going to have to find someone else to replace the shutters soon, because, after all, I actually wanted the job done.  I also mentioned the window topper.  Many emails later.... Finally, they replaced the shutters but never the window topper.  I guess the work was OK and the price was OK...but now I'm going to have to shop around for another company because I still want the window topper replaced.

I had also mentioned to them that if they had done a good job, I wanted to have some windows replaced.  I guess they aren't interested in the job of replacing the windows because I never heard anything from them.  They did respond at one point and said that yes, they do install windows and were interested...but that is where it ended.  I asked several times.  I guess they lost interest.

I'm really disappointed because I was hoping to find someone I could rely on who could handle more work.  I really want to make some improvements to our place.  They seemed like they were nice enough people.  When they were actually communicating, they were OK.  I think they would have been good if only they showed competence with the assessment of the # of people they needed, the equipment they needed (ladder), and if they communicated.  Even if they made some mistakes in the assessment of people, etc., if they had just kept me updated, I would have been happier.  I feel like I had to beg to get them to do the job and I'm left with trying to find someone to do the other work I still want done.  It also took a very long time.  The damage occured in February.  (Insurance company dragged their feet paying which caused some of the delay).  The roofers were scheduled for May.  The shutters were finally replaced at the end of July after many emails.  I gave up on the window topper.  A person can only ask so many times.

Well, I guess it is a good sign for the economy if a company is so busy they don't communicate and they are turning down work.  I don't "get" it personally, but this was my 1st time using a contractor.  Maybe they are all like that.

FAQs for garage door installation and replacement projects in Williamstown, NJ

Yes, you can replace just one panel if your door is sectional and the damaged panel is available. Most modern residential garage doors have four to six horizontal panels that can be individually replaced. However, finding an exact match becomes challenging for older doors or discontinued styles. For doors over 15 to 20 years old or with multiple damaged panels, a complete door replacement might be more practical and visually consistent.

Minor dents or cosmetic damage can often be repaired without replacing the entire panel, potentially saving you money. However, if the damage affects the door's operation, security, or structural integrity, replacement is often a better investment.

For extensive damage to multiple panels or older doors where matching is difficult, full door replacement might be more economical in the long run than multiple individual panel replacements.

Your garage door panel might be repairable if the damage is superficial and doesn't affect functionality. Small dents in aluminum panels, minor scratches, or cosmetic issues often don't require full replacement. However, replacement is often necessary if the panel is warped, has large holes, shows extensive rust, or affects how the door operates. A professional garage door technician can evaluate the damage and recommend whether repair or replacement offers the best value and durability.
