"Everything went well! They were able to install the new unit sooner than expected. The guys, Mike, Riley and Andrew were professional, friendly and very efficient. They cleaned up any debris and made sure I was satisfied with the work. Mike Russell is awesome too. I have used O'Brien Service Company for many years and I trust them completely. Thanks, O'Brien, for another outstanding job!"

"We had several companies come out to investigate issues with our gas pack HVAC. They kept patching but nothing was working. We were getting moisture in the house. Finally we asked our warranty company for a different opinion. They came out and solved the issue. Found all of the problems and replaced our unit through the warranty and helped walk us through it every step of the way. Always reachable, courteous and thorough. We highly recommend them."

"Anderson Air replaced the heat pump in our old home. The new unit was up running within 24 hours of agreeing to term. The installation was performed exactly how it was described to me. They were very professional and because they did such a great job, I have continued to use them at our new home, which has older units. One unit is a carrier system, which is the same age as the house. It would had some less than stellar repairs done to it previously, so when it broke down again, the job was much worse than I would have anticipated. Nonetheless, AA was able to source the parts necessary and got the job done. I strongly recommend AA for any heating and/or air repairs/installations you might need. PS. They also have someone who services gas fireplaces! We utilized this as well."

"I would highly recommend this business.  We had them come and restain the deck and at first just powerwash the house.  They scheduled the work right away.  After doing the pressure washing, there were some areas with paint chips under the soffit.  Mike offered to repaint those for free.  During this, they noticed areas of the soffit that were rotten, so we had them repair those areas of the wood.  They also fixed a few screens that were damaged during the pressure washing for free.
Everything turned out great, and we are very happy we had this work done.  Mike and Crystal are very professional and easy to work with.  I will be having them do some more work on our house in the near future.

FAQs for window a/c unit service or relocation projects in Wilmington, NC

If your window air conditioner is relatively new or of high quality, repairing it can restore optimal performance and protect your investment. However, for older units or those with ongoing issues, it might be more cost-effective to replace the unit to ensure long-term efficiency and reliability. Consider the unit's age, the severity of the problem, repair costs versus replacement, and energy efficiency ratings when making your decision. If repairs cost more than half the price of a new unit, replacement is typically the better option.

Window air conditioners last eight to ten years on average. After this time, you may notice decreased efficiency and component wear. Replacing an older unit can improve energy savings and provide updated features like remote controls and better overall performance. With proper maintenance including regular filter cleaning, coil checks, and professional servicing, you can maximize your unit's lifespan.

If your portable AC isn't cooling, it might have a refrigerant leak or a circuit malfunction that's preventing it from working properly. It's best to contact a local air conditioner contractor to inspect and repair the unit. If your AC is older and repairs don't fix the issue, replacing it might be the most effective solution.

Removing a wall-mounted AC costs $55 to $75. Completing the removal yourself at the end of each summer season, being sure to do so according to proper guidelines, keeps you within this cost range. Should you require professional assistance for removal and disposal, if you can't move the unit yourself, expect an added fee of $25 to $50 to the overall cost.
