"The repointing work was generally done well. Old mortar and bricks were removed and new bricks were installed. The craftsmanship was excellent. However, the color of the mortar used differed from that in the rest of the brickwork, so at present it stands out. Sixpenny said to wait a period and then re-evaluate whether any change should be made. I would rate this as an "A" but for the color difference in the mortar that was not expected. The chimney cap work was done well."

"Prouty did a great job on the chimney liners and ultimately the chimney cap repair. I rated them a C on responsiveness and professionalism specifically for an issue related to finishing the chimney cap in April when the weather conditions allowed for the repair. We financed the project over a six month period. I had requested that they provide pictures of the finished work including the chimney cap. Other companies we have used in the past provide before and after pictures. However, we were told that because they had already completed the chimney cap repair, they would not return to take pictures. It wasn't until we withheld the final payment that they agreed to return and provide pictures; only to find out that the work had not been completed. They were apologetic about the error in the paperwork, but I can't help thinking if we had not withheld the final payment, we would have been unaware that the repair had not been completed. I believe I would hire them again, but would have to make sure to verify the completed work."

"GREAT!! Dave Boyers came out to inspect and repair a gas fireplace that had not been working for 15 years. He worked for two hours trying to get the old Heatilator fixtures working but could not succeed. He told me that I'd have to find someone else to effect the repairs. An hour later he called me to say that he found the replacement fixtures on eBay. Today he installed the new parts, cleaned the fireplace inside and out (including the glass plate), fixed a gas leak, tested and inspected the system, and reinstalled all the hardware and screen and left the work area spotless. When he left my house after unsuccessfully making the initial repairs I did not think (nor did I ask) he would seek out the correct replacement parts. But he did, which shows his true dedication to his trade and his professionalism to his customers. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Dave Boyers for any and all fireplace repairs and services.
