"Predatory Sales and Subpar Quality Mad City's process is predatory from start to finish. Three hours of high-pressure sales tactics in my own home, even after I repeatedly stated I needed to discuss it with my husband. After the installation the field manager acknowledging the wave and gaps in the wall, he told me that while it didn't meet my expectations, it met their "standard of error." Let that sink in: Mad City Bath?s official policy is that crooked and wavy is good enough. If you value your money, or want a shower that is actually square and plumb, stay far away from this company. They perform subpar work, hide behind automated phone lines when things go wrong, and will abandon you the moment they have your money. Hire a reputable contractor instead."

"To begin with the salesman told us most of the work would be done outside. Also the molding did not have to be removed. This was all wrong information. They did most of the work indoors. They did not put anything down on my runner or my wood floor. My runner and floors had to be steam cleaned. They destroyed the molding around the windows. The caulking is horrible. They were supposed to send us a survey. It was never sent to us because they knew we were not happy. No one from the company contacted us to see how things went. We have to call a finish contractor to replace the molding. This is not acceptable. I do not recommend this company. "

"My 89 year old Mother hired company not knowing any better. A little over $9000 for just a tub and enclosure. Took advantage of elderly. Company would not give me any pricing for the materials. Way Over priced ! Not worth it."

"Multi-time returning customer of Tri County Kitchens Inc. Few little kitchen update projects previously completed with them. Now we just completed our 2nd full kitchen renovation with Todd and his team. My wife and I are very cautious when hiring people to come work at our home. We are careful and decisive during the process to choose the professionals we decide upon. That being said... Todd and his crew are always 1st class to interact with. Courteous to converse with during the planning period. Happy to answer questions regarding materials, products, and the design that was best for our home. Detailed and itemized quote followed. Thorough plan of action was written out as well. The results have revamped the look of our home. As neighbors and friends and family do... they want to know who did the work and are we happy with the company who did the work. Yes, were are tremendously pleased. Happy to pass along their contact information so they too can utilize Todd and his team. Proud to have had Tri County Kitchens Inc take care of us, yet again"

"We hired Carmen to finish our basement in our house and we gave him just skeleton ideas of what we wanted. I'm glad we let him run with it because we couldn't be happier. Carmen is incredibly professional, talented and creative. I think what's not often talked about with contractors is how they treat their clients and Carmen is the most personable guy we've ever worked with. He was always cognizant of us working from home and was always accessible for questions both before, during and now after the job. We look forward to him doing our master bath next. We wouldn't hire anyone else to do kitchen, bath or basement work. Can't say much other than the completed job is above and beyond what we expected!"

"Highly recommend! Mark and his family owned team are the best. I didn't know who to go to, and googled several companies. Most never got back to me. Mark was in contact right away, came in with the best pricing, and worked around my schedule. His team showed up exactly as scheduled and completed the job efficiently and with the most caring effort. Don't even waste time looking elsewhere."

"We were in desperate need of a complete gut and remodel of our small bathroom. Bath Pro came in, discussed options, and explained the details thoroughly. This being our only bathroom, we needed professionals who would be able to do the whole deal of demo, plumbing, electrical (added an outlet and exhaust fan), dry-wall, shower installation, cabinets, painting, etc. all within a week's time - and these guys hit it out of the park! They were prompt each day, kept us informed of everything going on, went above-and-beyond to help us solve some problems that crept up along the way, cleaned up after themselves, and paid close attention to detail. I am still in awe each time I walk into our new bathroom. Our main team of Stacy, Jeff, and Seth were incredible to work with and did fantastic work. Truly a 5 star service and I will always highly recommend Bath Pro of Western PA!"

FAQs for walk in tub installation and replacement projects in Pittsburgh, PA

Because Medicare classifies walk-in tubs as non-durable medical equipment, it generally won’t pick up the tab. Medicaid can help if a doctor certifies that the tub is medically necessary, but rules change by state. Call your plan early, ask which forms you need, and keep any prescriptions or letters on file to improve your odds of reimbursement.

A walk-in bathtub’s fill and drain times hinge on your home’s water pressure and the tub’s hardware. Most models with a fast-fill faucet need about six to eight minutes to fill and two to three minutes to drain; larger basins or standard drains can tack on an extra 10 minutes. Stay seated until the water is completely gone so you don’t swing the door open on a full tub’s worth of water.

A walk-in bathtub holds 50 gallons of water, and its design supports capacities that range from 40 to 80 gallons, depending on the product. In contrast, a standard bathtub holds 25 to 45 gallons. This capacity is determined by the fixed design of the tub and its construction materials. Homeowners should review the detailed product specifications to confirm the exact volume available for use during bath time.

Walk-in tubs are tax-deductible when the purchase qualifies as a necessary medical expense and meets the IRS criteria. Caregivers who install a walk-in tub also qualify for the Dependent Care Tax Credit under specific conditions. Homeowners must verify these requirements with the IRS and consult a tax professional, as state and program guidelines enforce strict documentation standards for such deductions.
