"We used DryPro for crawlspace encapsulation. We have a finished basement, with crawlspace adjacent to the basement. DryPro sent three teammates out to do the job - Juan, Steven McSawain and Donte Anderson were all on time, kind and professional. We have an unusually shaped crawlspace and Juan tackled the job without hesitation. We are already noticing better temperature and humidity control in our finished basement and house. So pleased, thank you guys for your hard work!"

"Communication with Alex was extremely pleasant and not pushy at all like a lot of people, very helpful in helping me acquire the materials I need and they grabbed the ones I couldn’t get. Derek did the remodel by himself and did an excellent job, would absolutely have him come back for more work if needed. I absolutely recommend Cransten to anybody looking for work to be done on a budget."

"David did a wonderful job at our home. He painted two rooms and finished a ceiling. He also did several handyman jobs for us: sealed windows and doors, weather stripping, carpentry, fixed/sanded/stained our front door, cleaned out the dryer vent, repaired our deck, etc. He did a great job with everything. The painting was flawless. David was very responsive, honest, great to work with, and punctual. He charged a reasonable price for his services and took pride in his work. I would definitely hire him again and have recommended him to friends and family."

"From start to finish, these guys are the real deal. They consistently not only met my expectations, but exceeded them as well. Flexible, professional, and accessible. Any concerns I had were addressed and met with suggestions and/or solutions. As everyone knows, construction , renovation, or building can be stressful. My project went as smooth as it possibly could, and that’s due in large part to Blake and Mark! I would hire them again in a minute!"

"The sales rep was very personable and seemed to have knowledge of drainage problems and solutions. The workers arrived on schedule and worked very hard to accomplish the task at hand. They routed the drainage to an open ditch parallel to the property. They also rerouted drainage for an existing, inefficient french drain and sump that was pumping water across the driveway that was washing the soil out from under the concrete and creating an unsightly stain. To this point, we felt that all was going well. The problem that arose was that the French drain they installed was still higher than the foundation of the house. They filled in the trench with gravel to facilitate drainage, but covered the gravel with the soil they removed, which is mostly clay. Consequently, the water still runs off across the top of the French drain and overwhelms the foundation. Moisture in the crawl space has not been significantly reduced. I talked to the rep about redoing the crawl space which had mold forming on the floor joists. He gave me a quote that included sealing all the vents, cleaning the mold, adjusting pitch of the interior perimeter French drain, relocating the crawl sump and pump to a better collection point, putting down new vapor barrier and installing a crawl space dehumidifier, ($1,500.00) at a total cost of $4,290.00. If we wanted mold remediation treatment in addition to just cleaning the mold, the cost was an additional $1,950.00. The rep also agreed to send a team back out to remove the top layer of soil from the French drain and fill the trench with gravel, build up the soil at the foundation, making the new French drain at a level lower than the foundation to contain the water, at no additional charge. Subsequent to all that, we discovered some major structural damage that was going to be costly. Alignment of priorities and available finances dictated that the crawl space would have to be put on hold, at least temporarily. I sent an email to the Moisture Loc rep explaining our dilemma, but reiterated that I still expected him to live up to his promise to fix the French drain deficiencies, for which I already paid handsomely. In spite of email, text messages and voice mail to the rep, I have never received the courtesy of a response. I can only conclude that since we had to suspend the crawl space work, there is no intention to make the necessary changes/repairs to the original work as promised. <br />"

"They did a good job on sealing up the basement. The french drain was a bit of a challenge. My car port was still flooding after a good steady rain. When they came back to fix, they removed some nice gravel that they installed originally and dug a little deeper and put in some stuff that was butt ugly. I didn't make a big deal of it because ultimately what I wanted was the flooding fixed. Getting them back to fix the problem took weeks. They often didn't return phone calls. The main guy said he had come out to look, but he didn't bother to tell me. The second time didn't fix it either. They finally came out a third time to work on the french drain after many phone calls and most of them not returned. I was told their answering service wasn't working a few times. Internet problems or something. But that went on for weeks. They finally sent someone out and they brought the drain further out from the edge of the car port. (The original problem they said was they couldn't dig any deeper because the edge of the carport had cement that was beyond the edge. My thought, they should have moved it back the first time when they realized this. The description of the ditch on estimate was it would be 12 to 18 inches deep. It was nothing close to this. I tried to point this out, they sort of ignored me. This whole miscalculation really wasn't my problem.)  They pulled ditch out on the other side of flower bed and made deeper, they put the crappy looking rock back and told me if it didn't work this time they couldn't do anything else. They pointed out how the hill on the side, (They put the drain in the front.) was so sloped that rain water was likely coming from there. Luckily this drain mostly fixed the problem. I felt they completely misjudged the drain situation. They bid low and that was tied up with some other work. So I can understand how their profit was trickling away. However; the way they handled the whole thing was unprofessional and careless. Due to this I decided I would probably not use them again. If you hire them to do their specialty, crawl space sealing, treatment and remedy, you may be happy with them. Just know you may have to deal with some issues around getting them to call back, etc. <br />"

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Rock Hill, SC

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
