One I felt like I was talking to a car salesman, the other automatically added a $99 "membership" giving me services I don't need, plus the cost was over $600 higher. The Elgin estimate was reasonable and thorough. Scott did a great job explaining everything that needed to be done. The installation went well and, again, Scott explained everything that he was doing and how the water softener works. I would definitely recommend Elgin Water Care!"

"The technician came on time and, although it took him longer than expected to install the system, he installed it and demonstrated the system for me. The next day, I noticed there was still water on the concrete close to the system but, I figured it was residual water. Apparently the system was leaking. Two days after install I contacted Leaf and advised them that the system was leaking. Early, the next business day, they arrived and repaired the leak and made sure I was happy. My system seems to be working well and I am satisfied."

Technician gave me a list of options from simple that I could do myself had I bothered to study the problem--replacing the rubber flapper--to needlessly complex that I could not see how the problem could be solved--tech proposed installing a water softener system, based on the rust-colored stains inside the tank. I explained that the toilet was old, and that the stains probably came from a time when the house was on well water. Since then, the house went onto city water and we haven't seen stains anywhere else. This explanation did not deter the tech, as he recommended a water softener system twice more before he left. (This gave me the impression that Hope encourages all its technicians to recommend the most expensive "fix" to a problem, even if it may not be useful or necessary). In any case, I chose the simple solution and it reduced but did not totally fix the problem. I have called Hope and asked them to come back. We'll see."
