"Worst Choice Plumbing doesn’t even deserve 1 star. Avoid at ALL costs. Our adjacent neighbors hired them to fix a leaky pipe, which required them to dig up our sidewalk. Well they never compacted the dirt or set up any water prevention measures while the dirt needed to settle and the sidewalk collapsed on itself as a result, causing CATASTROPHIC flooding in our basement AND their client’s basement. The FIRE DEPARTMENT had to come out and shore up the hole to prevent any further collapse. We called L&I and when Worst Choice caught wind, they immediately sent a crew to actually add the preventative measures they should have added to begin with. Too little too late. The concrete company they contracted with to finally pave over the trench even admitted to us their work was not industry standard. They refuse to admit liability despite being in violation of multiple standards. Do not hire unless you want to be out a minimum of $30k! 0/5 stars!"

FAQs for gas piping projects in Absecon, NJ

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
